Chapter 12 – The Pool of Heroes
“Aren’t all of these the heroes of those games in my laptop?!” Shocked, Lin Ling forced himself to calm down. He walked towards the statue of Cairne Bloodhoof, and admiring the lifelike carving, he couldn’t help wanting to touch it…
“I wouldn’t touch my noble body if I were you, human!” A thick threatening voice sounded out from the statue like a huge bell, and then Lin Ling noticed the statue was moving!
Step by step, the giant hooves came down from the stone altar. When the statue became a real Tauren, its momentum increased exponentially.
“Oh.” Said Lin Ling trembling slightly, quickly withdrawing his hand in fear.
“Hahaha!” Looking at Lin Ling’s face, Cairne Bloodhoof let out a hearty laugh. Shaking his head he said: “Rest assured boy, I can’t kill you even if I wanted to.”
Lin Ling was surprised by this. Looking puzzled at Cairne he doubtfully asked: “Will you really not kill me?”
“I, Cairne Bloodhoof, won’t kill those I said I won’t kill! You ask too much questions!” Seeing Lin Ling questioning himself, the smile on Cairne’s face disappeared. His big eyes locked on Lin Ling’s, and a murderous air permeated his body. Cairne coldly said: “I, Cairne Bloodhoof, swear by the souls of my ancestors that I will never hurt you!”
Since he swore by his ancestor, Lin Ling’s heart was set at ease. Taurens are not like humans. They don’t swear and then renege of their words. When a Tauren swears his words are absolute.
“What…what is this place?”
“The Pool of Heroes!”
Cairne Bloodhoof turned his head and looked at the remaining stone statues, as if he were looking for something.
“That…”
“Don’t ask nonsense! Go and look at the manual!”
“…”
After listening to his words, Lin Ling discovered there was a thick sheepskin book on his waist. The yellowed paper made it looked nothing but old.
Opening the old book, Lin Ling opened it and read it carefully.
“So this is the case!” Rubbing his eyes, he did not know how much time passed since he started reading the book. After reading the manual, he got a certain understanding of the Summoner System.
The Summoner System is a between “League of Legends” and the other games in his laptop. It is based on “League of Legends” and those other games.
Rune page, Summoner’s Mastery Tree, Summoner’s Skills.
These three things originated from “League of Legends”. Having the Summoner System is the equivalent of becoming an All-powerful Summoner. As long as my level goes up, the rune page, summoner’s mastery and summoner’s skills will be unlocked one by one.
As for the hero cultivation system (TNL: Previously referred to as hero transformation system, but I thing cultivation is the right word) and the shop, those are the result of the integration of the other games. With the first one, Lin Ling can not only be a summoner, but can also become a powerful champion on his own. As for the shop, it says his level is not enough to open it, so he doesn’t know how much time will take to unlock it.
“That is to say, this statues of heroes is where I learn hero skills!” Thinking about his future, Lin Ling’s breath became rushed. With his heart beating with excitement, he stepped on the stone altar.
What is the most useful ability someone can gain from World of Warcraft? In Lin Ling’s eyes, the answer was auras!
For example, Cairne Bloodhood himself has an aura.
Endurance aura!
This aura grants allies with increased attack rate and movement speed. In the game, this skill can provide a very large support for troops, and it has a considerable role in team fights!
Coupled with his incredible physical abilities and his AoE skills, Cairne is considered one of the legendary heroes of World of Warcraft!
“Do not be rushed!” Cairne withdrew his sight from the stone statues and looked at Lin Ling. “You can only learn one single skill for now, so you better choose carefully. After all, there are too many heroes in the pool of heroes, and every single one of them have powerful skills, but a powerful skill is not always the solution. In my opinion, many of the skills of these heroes are not suitable for you.”
This words poured a bucket of cold water over Lin Ling’s heart.
The strongest point of Cairne is his body. Every single one of his skills consist on rushing over to the frontlines and cause great amount of damage to surrounding enemies. But if you try to learn these skills and you do not have a strong enough body, then you’ll only be committing suicide by attacking the enemy army by yourself.
“Well…” Reality is too cruel. Cairne’s sentence shattered Lin Ling’s beautiful illusions of fighting an army by himself.
Cairne is a hero born for the sake of war, and almost all of his abilities are AoE skills. There will be war wherever he goes. Even his aura grants bonuses to the allies inside its range of effect.
“You are right, I was overexcited. Thank you Cairne, if it weren’t for you I may have wasted my opportunity to select a skill.”
“It’s okay, because it was thanks to you that I could see my son. I’m already satisfied.”
Lin Ling indeed saw the statue of another Tauren in the direction Cairne was looking at previously. The shape of a Tauren can stand out a lot if it’s put in a row like this one, so it wasn’t really hard for Cairne to actually find his son.
“Why don’t you go reunite with your son?”
Caine shook his head: “It’s useless, only you can wake up a statue by getting close to it. When you move inside a certain range of the statue, this will come alive, but if you were to get away, then the hero would become a stone statue again.”
“…” What a heavy topic. Lin Ling bowed his head. Regardless of anything, the Cairne Bloodhoof in front of him was a real existence. In him, Lin Ling can see life. He has his own flesh and blood, his own feelings, family and memories. It doesn’t matter if these so-called memories were actually created by the authors of the game.
