"Ye?!"
The group of new Apostles turned to look at the young Demon Hunter. Surprise registered in their eyes as they cheered, "You're out so soon? You've passed your Apostle test?"
"Yes, it went swimmingly!" Ye Qi nodded with a smile before turning to look at the big bloke, "Darien, is your offer for a few round still on?"
"Of course!" Darien nodded but he was confused why the young Demon Hunter would bring that up right then.
"Okay, I'll take you up on it then!" Ye Qi said casually before adding, "After I deal with that trash standing right there! Hey, is there really a need for all of us to jump in to deal with a trash like this? Just leave it to me!"
"Ye, good luck!"
"Knock him out, take revenge for A Wa!"
"Ye, teach him a lesson and the drink's on me!"
"You are the leader for this group of rookies?" Glados' expression soured with condescension, "So… a Big Rookie?"
"Rookie? Perhaps, but that's still better than a good-for-nothing that couldn't graduate," Ye Qi said as his gaze glanced past Glados and landed on the group of Apostles who egged Glados on earlier. He pointed at them and said, "All of you, come at me all at once so I wouldn't have to kick your asses one by one!"
Instantly, the arena went still as everyone turned to look at Ye Qi who was standing on stage, disbelief was plain in their eyes—these Apostles that Ye Qi provoked were not good-for-nothings as Ye Qi described, in fact, they were Apostles who had shown great performance during their one year at the headquarters and was requested by the headquarters to stay to further hone their crafts! In other words, they were elites among the elites!
What is Ye Qi planning? Is he planning to take on all these elites on his own?
"Hahaha… Rookie, have you lost your mind? You wish to challenge all of us at once?" Glados' boisterous laughter shattered the silence inside the arena. After he finished laughing, he waved behind him and glared fiendishly at Ye Qi, "be happy because your wish is about to come true!"
There were seven elite Apostles who were asked to stay, including Glados. After Glados gave them the signal, all of them jumped onto the stage. They formed a party around Glados and all seven of them glared in unison at Ye Qi.
Facing seven Star level Apostles at once alone was not impossible, in fact, it would be fairly easy for an Apostle beyond the Moon level. However, Ye Qi was only a newbie Apostle, in fact, his life as a Demon Hunter was less than half a year.
Could he really survive a match facing seven Star level Apostles? All of his newfound friends looked to the stage with worry.
However, there was nothing they could do no matter how worried they were—the arena was less cruel than bout for life but it had its own set of rules that couldn't be violated as well. Since Ye Qi had issued a challenge to the whole group of Apostles then it had to be completed—until one side had been defeated. Outsiders were not allowed to interrupt. Honour was on the line for both the participant and the person who interrupted.
"C+ Quest: Provocation from the Seniors. Defeat all the senior Apostles in the arena."
C+ Quest? That's quite interesting.
Ye Qi was surprised as he glanced at the system info—even though the quest trigger was random, Ye Qi had found a common thread for some of them—Combat! Whenever Ye Qi got himself involved in combat, there was a great chance of him triggering a quest!
Therefore, when Ye Qi hopped onto the stage, he knew there was a chance of triggering the quest. However, the fact that the quest was at a C+ level still surprised him—as his level increased, E to D quest no longer posed any threat to him, C- to C was also simple but C+ still posed some degree of challenge!
But this was a challenge he had to make. Even though Ye Qi was normally quite a collected person, he was burning with fury from the insult. Furthermore, the opponent spat on A Wa—his new friend who earlier offered to join him as emotional support as he went for the Apostle test, the man was lying on the floor in his own pool of blood. After the hosts of insult he had suffered at the hands of this Glados, if the young Demon Hunter still stood there and did nothing, then his name was not Ye Qi! Even though the young Demon Hunter didn't consider himself a hero, he was indeed someone who would look out for his friend.
Glados' provocation and arrogance greatly irked the young Demon Hunter and Ye Qi was going to let him have a taste of his own medicine—he was going to more arrogant and provocative after he handed their *sses to them!
"Both side ready?" The giant who stepped in as the temporary judge glanced at Ye Qi with worry. As both side nodded in confirmation, he conducted his duty as a judge responsibly, "Start!"
The seven senior Apostles separated the moment Titan announced the start of the match. They immediately formed a circle to surround the young Demon Hunter, from the way they weaved seamlessly through each other, this was not the first time they had worked together.
"Strengthen Resistance! Mage's Armour!"
After he quietly casted the spell, the young Demon Hunter placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and he proceeded to close his eyes—he had completely mastered Blind Fighter, it came rather instinctually to the young Demon Hunter at this point. Ye Qi chose to use it now because it allowed him to filter out the distractions from sight and focus fully and closely on the individual movement of each senior Apostle.
The Apostles who were on the young Demon Hunter's left and right attacked in unison—a flail and hammer headed directly at Ye Qi. Both flail and hammer were weapons that needed extreme mastery. If used wisely, they could smash through the toughest armour. However, it was useless against Ye Qi who relied plenty on dexterity and agility in combat.
With just a simple step forward, the flail and hammer brushed Ye Qi's windbreaker before landing with a thud on the floor. The two Apostles who missed quickly followed their weapons and collapsed to the floor. They clasped their hands around their necks as they did so—Ye Qi did not kill them, he merely used the back of his sword but he made sure the hit was strong enough to incapacitate them until the match was over.
If possible, the young Demon Hunter didn't want to hold back but the arena was not a bout for life! If he killed them, Ye Qi believed he would be sent back to the Tower of Thorns and he doubted the punishment this time would be as light as a weeklong imprisonment!
"Use your powers!"
The group of senior Apostles who lost two of their members right as the match began, unleashed their full power on Ye Qi following the shout from Glados.
