Chapter 4.2: 4.2
Then, an airy voice spoke from the darkness in front of them . “Who are you! How dare you enter the forbidden zone!”
Without warning, there was a glint of light as a blade shot out towards Wei Liang and Lin Qui, but Wei Liang grabbed Lin Qiu’s wrist and sidestepped two paces and easily avoided the weapon .
Then, the area in front of Lin Qiu’s vision started to brighten up .
She saw Wei Liang lift his left hand, pressing the air in front of him as if there was a glass wall . At the place where his palm and the air connected, white rays of light began to spider outwards and split open in every direction .
At each side from about ten miles away, three cultivators wearing long robes looked on in shock .
“Send the message now! A strong enemy is attacking us! The barrier is about to break!”
One of them turned around and ran off, while the other two held scorching blades in hand . The tip of their blades shot forward like snakes, charging forward and heavily slashing towards the person that was in the process of breaking the barriers .
Wei Liang didn’t even look back, and his sleeves flapped in the air as he let go of Lin Qiu .
The shadows of both blades swayed past each side of him, and—
CRACK!
There was a loud cracking sound as each blade landed on the barrier .
The white cracks in the air grew, and then the barrier shattered!
Wei Liang took no notice about the two people behind him, and he hugged Lin Qiu and with light footsteps entered through the broken barrier, stepping into a gloomily lit cave in the mountains .
Lin Qiu was stunned at the magical scene on display . Water flowed beneath her, while the shimmering and translucent dripstones dangled from the top of the cave . The dripstones glittered softly with the seven colours, almost lighting up the place as the lights intertwined and danced with each other on the cavern rock surfaces .
Wei Liang simply kept his gaze forwards as he walked straight towards the deepest part of the cave .
“Yes?” a nasally voice came from the darkness . The voice sounded so charismatic that it felt like a real force coming at them .
But then, the surroundings immediately turned hot as a wave of fire rushed out, and the dripstones turned bright red and melted from the ceiling of the cave like burning lava .

“A fire swordswoman, Wang Ho Zhi,” Wei Liang said in a lowered voice, his tone deep, slightly dark, sounding different from his usual self .
Suddenly, an old woman wearing red jumped out from between the dripstones with her arms outstretched like a giant bird . Her eyes were as sharp as talons as she looked fiercely at Wei Liang . He stretched out his arms and held Lin Qiu tightly as he dove directly into the fire wave that Wang Ho Zhi ignited .
“Hm?” Wang Ho Zhi laughed . “Coming to seek death?”
The moment, Wei Liang’s figure appeared behind her like a ghost . His cold hand pressed on her neck and easily broke it .
“Ka Cha . ”
Wei Liang didn’t stop or look back as he continued straight into the heart of the cave .
Lin Qiu glanced back, and she could see the body of the red-shirted old woman fall right into the river beneath her, like a kite that had broken loose .
Lin Qiu stared incredulously at Wei Liang, but his gaze was deeply calm save for a slight smirk on his lips .

So…the one who died should be the bad guy right?
Eventually, they reach a small cave hole . It seemed to be a kind of window or opening, as bright daylight was shining through it .
Daylight? Lin Qiu was stunned . If she wasn’t wrong, it should be midnight now, so where did the daylight come from?
Just as she thought of this, Wei Liang already reached the hole as he carried on to her . As Lin Qiu looked through it, she had to stop herself from gasping in astonishment .
The hole wasn’t a window, but was actually an entrance to a small natural stone room . In between the vast number of dripstones was a clear, shallow fountain with many translucent and colourful fishes swimming around, lighting up the whole room so bright that it looked like it was daylight . On closer inspection, the colorful rays weren’t fishes at all, but small translucent fluid dripstones .
“These are the spirited dripstones,” Wei Liang said softly . The next moment, his hands pushed Lin Qiu from the back, causing her to fall into the fountain with a splash .
Lin Qiu, surprised, hastily stood up and wiped the water from her face . She turned towards Wei Liang and saw that his eyes were closed halfway, and wondered what he had up his sleeve next .
The next moment, the spiritual dripstones in the fountain came alive, rushing towards Lin Qiu . They touched her skin and stuck onto her like a patch, then seemed to turn into stone . Horrified, Lin Qiu looked down at her hands, and realized that her palms had turned into gypsum . The colourful aura seeped into her body, attaching themselves to her veins and forming a strong but also soft layer around it .

In no time at all, Lin Qiu was engulfed in a rock sculpture .
The corner of Wei Liang’s eyes twitched, and he wordlessly lifted the hem of his robe as he entered the fountain and peeled Lin Qiu out from the sculpture .
As Lin Qiu was in a daze, she recalled a memory from the villainess’ past . Her mother, Zheng Zi Yu, hadn’t sought approval from her father to marry off Lin Qiu as a concubine in the Wang family . When her father discovered this, he became so angry that he folded up his sleeves and rushed towards the Wang family to cancel on the marriage . This didn’t work out, however, because the Wang family gave her father a drop of this very same fountain water—the same water that was used to submerge the spiritual dripstones .
Lin Qiu’s father then only agreed to the marriage .
Each descendent of the Wang family had to drink a small cup of the fountain water to strengthen their body . That cup of spiritual water was what made the Wang family stand strong, and they became the only immortal family in the cultivation realm .
Now…
Lin Qiu looked down at the empty fountain and the fallen pieces of gypsum scattered everywhere, feeling lost .
So, the figurehead of the righteous clan brought her here in the middle of the night to destroy the foundation of the only immortal family in the cultivation realm?
He was just creating chaos!
