Feng Tianlan squinted her eyes as she looked at Xi Jin and chuckled. “Crown Prince Xi can rest assured. As long as she doesn’t provoke me, I won’t do anything to her.”
Xi Jin remained silent with a cold expression. He got up and shook his sleeves as if he was angry before he left.
When he had first learned the truth, he didn’t think that much. He was only thinking about whether or not he could get something out of her. However, as time went by, he became calmer. He then realized that the trip to visit Master Shen was no doubt for nothing. That was because he couldn’t just bluntly ask Master Shen what he wanted to know.
Feng Tianlan let out a long sigh as she watched Xi Jin head downstairs and leave. It was true that people changed as time passed. She didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
All in all, after having such experiences, one would have to grow from them.
When Feng Tianlan headed downstairs, she saw Mei’er and the others’ gazes, which were filled with concern. It made her heart flood with warmth. She couldn’t help but smile. “It’s alright. Crown Prince Xi wasn’t here to settle the score with me.”
Xiao Xiao let out an obvious sigh of relief. “That’s good.” After all, he was still a Crown Prince. If they really made him mad, he might do something to their tiny mercenary regiment.

An angry and hateful voice was heard from outside the door.
Feng Tianlan raised her head and looked in that direction. She saw Chen Xinlu rushing in rather pathetically in a worn-out Chinese dress. “Chen Xinlu?”
If it wasn’t for her voice, Feng Tianlan almost wouldn’t have recognized her. The Chinese dress she was wearing looked like it had been torn and patches were sewn onto it. On top of that, it looked like it had turned pale. It was as if she had no other choice but to wear this dress.
After thinking about it, she seemed to understand what was going on. Chen Xinlu must have been taken home by that peddler. She suddenly went from being a rich young lady to a poor man’s wife, which was why she couldn’t wear those expensive dresses anymore. However, after seeing that Chen Xinlu hadn’t slimmed down and her fingers were still white and tender, it was obvious that she wasn’t asked to do any hard labor. It seemed as though that peddler was treating her rather well.
“Tianlan, you are dressed up as a man right now,” Mei’er reminded her. This meant that she was currently not Feng Tianlan.
Feng Tianlan looked at Chen Xinlu, who rushed towards her. She then calmly said, “She recognized me. It’s alright. Anyway, there aren’t any outsiders here today.”
“I never would have guessed that the two of you are the same person.” Chen Xinlu was gritting her teeth as she stared at Feng Tianlan with eyes filled with hatred. If no one had told her that Feng Tianlan and Master Shen were the same person, she would still be in the dark.
“So?” Feng Tianlan sneered. “I already told you the truth, but you refused to believe me. Yet you are blaming me right now after feeling embarrassed?”
“It seemed like the people in Lin’an City still don’t know about this, right? How would it sound if I were to announce this news to the public?” Chen Xinlu threatened Feng Tianlan as her eyes turned red.
Feng Tianlan curled her lips slightly. “My mercenary regiment will expand significantly in a day. This is because after your announcement, I will no longer be the simple Master Shen anymore, but the Demon King’s Princess Consort.”
She was disguised as a man because she wanted to be low profile. She didn’t have any other reason to do so.
Chen Xinlu’s expression changed. She then said ferociously, “My sister doesn’t know. If she knew, she would kill you.”
“She can’t kill me,” Feng Tianlan responded.
That confident and arrogant tone made Chen Xinlu hate her even more. She gritted her teeth and said, “I don’t care. I am in my current state because of you. You must compensate me.”
“Compensate you?” When Feng Tianlan heard the word ‘compensate’ she felt amused.
“That’s right. Compensate me.” Chen Xinlu gritted her teeth as she made her bold and blunt request. “Let me be the Demon King’s Second Consort as compensation!”
