Chapter 7 – Holding the Horse Stance

Zuo Liang’s mind was set on planning his and Ou Nisi Te’s improvement. He long had this in mind and had planned the prior week; waiting for a day to try his plan. Thus early this morning Zou Liang had dragged Ou Nisi Te out of bed.

“Big brother, isn’t it a bit early? I still haven’t had enough sleep.”

“There’s no time to sleep, from today onwards I will be in charge of your training. Let us begin the first round.”, Zuo Liang answered.

“Older brother, you’re not as strong as me, you won’t be able to beat me.”, Ou Nisi Te’s replied immediately breaking his large mouth open and furiously shaking his head.

“Quit talking nonsense, hurry up.” Zuo Liang reprimanded as he knew that explaining to this guy wasn’t as useful as diving straight into action or demonstration.

“Yes!”

Ou Nisi Te swung his arm and proceeded, attacking with a very accurate bear pounce; charging forth with a paw swipe.

Although the aggression was good his whole body was full of flaws; so many that Zuo Liang was a bit heartbroken.

hong…..

Ou Nisi Te suddenly felt his leg go numb; there was not a shadow to be seen in front of him as he fell head first into the ground.

“Come again.” Zuo Liang instructed, in training one mustn’t be gentle or soft handed, if this was counted as bullying then only he was allowed to bully him.

Ou Nisi Te picked himself up and swung his fist, charging towards Zuo Liang once again.

Full of flaws!

During this time Zuo Liang tested the coordination of his body. Though this body was lacking attacking power, his agility as well as his battle sense was Zuo Liang’s forte.

Ou Nisi Te felt his leg go again numb and fell onto the ground again.

“Big brother, you can’t keep kicking at my legs. Us bear tribe people must fight head to head!” Ou Nisi Te indignantly stated.

“No shit, on the battlefield who would fight head to head, in a battle one must be aware of their surroundings at all times. How can one only guard their upper body but not their lower body!”

“Heng, only winning by fighting head to head counts as winning”, Ou Nisi Te opposed.

Zuo Liang felt a bit dizzy; trying to explain things to the bear tribe was indeed a bit hard as they were so stubbornly attached to their ideals.

“Fine, so if I win fighting head on, does that mean everything I say is correct?”

“Of course”, Ou Nisi Te replied opening his mouth generously.

“Then come.”

After falling twice Ou Nisi Te was more alert, he felt his older brother was different from before. He readied his body and pounced towards Zuo Liang furiously.

Zuo Liang’s eyes glinted as he launched a kick straight into Ou Nisi Te’s chest, followed by a right knee. Ou Nisi Te’s two meter body immediately lurched backwards. However before he could even react Zuo Liang had launched out a roundhouse kick, whipping him in the neck.

Hong……

Ou Nisi Te smashed into the ground like a pole, unable to raise even the slightest resistance.

—-Triple chain slicing kicks, a minor combination in Muay Thai.

On the ground Ou Nisi Te wheezed for quite while, unable to get up. From this moment Ou Nisi Te no longer viewed Zuo Liang with respect, but also boundless admiration.

He hadn’t even seen his movements before he was hit. Previously he was very confident of his defensive abilities but they were of no use when faced with his older brothers attacks.

“Older brother, what technique is this? It’s so powerful! Please teach it to me then I’ll be able to beat those who beat me till they’re lying prone!”, Ou Nisi Te exclaimed. In this world no one wants to be bullied even if they are dumb.

While trialing his strength, Zuo Liang was slightly impressed, as a result his confidence had grown as well.

“Of course, didn’t I say that from today onwards I will train you properly? In the days to come, us brothers will adventure through the whole world unmatched.”

“To be invincible under the heavens”, Ou Nisi Te recited filled with boundless longing for that future.

Zuo Liang was in a daze, he had only said some random things, luckily this rascal was naive.

“Get up, first try the basics. The first move is a flick kick, note that it has to be vicious but it doesn’t need all your strength, you must also obtain a good grasp of its rhythm.”

Zuo Liang demonstrated a flick kick, while Ou Nisi Te scratched his head and asked, “Aren’t you suppose to use all your strength when you fight?”

Zuo Liang blanked out, this rascal left him speechless, to the point he didn’t know how to explain this. The problem was that he was afraid that explaining would be useless. This worlds concepts about combat were far too primitive, also the bear tribes comprehension abilities were truly inferior, well at least Ou Nisi Te’s was.

“Then use all your strength to kick!”

“Okay!”

Ou Nisi Te began to kick with high spirits, however after Zuo Liang observed this movement he felt his scalp tingle. Zuo Liang knew that these things could not be rushed and had to be observed carefully first before giving criticism.

Zuo Liang touched the large limestone at the side, this was brought here by Ou Nisi Te from the mountains and is also the stone he lifted from one place to another to train his strength. Zuo Liang struck this stone with his fist however the stone did not move an inch while Zuo Liang’s hand suffered a sudden wave of numbness.

The bear tribe renowned for their raw strength, so even though Ya Se was slightly weaker than the rest, his raw power would still be decent. During this period of nursing his health, his body had already recovered.

“Older brother, this kind of limestone requires a bronze grade combatant to shatter.” , Ou Nisi Te consoled.

Zuo Liang sucked in a mouthful of air and started to circulate his qi. Circulated beast spirit power could be mobilized with a swift reaction. 1 During his leisure time, Zuo Liang was always practicing to control his qi as he was fascinated with fighting and for some time was obsessed with fighting in reality. He had researched a fair number of fighting techniques and had some experience training in Chinese qi breathing exercises. It is rumored that if one is talented they can manage to form a spiral, however he had not managed to form a spiral but instead had cured himself of constipation, along with a resounding fart. 2

However qi breathing training is the starting point of controlling beast spirit which was incomparably helpful. 3

Though all of the beast spirit gathered towards his fist Zuo Liang was not worried. Instead he was experiencing the process of increasing his strength as he felt his fist swelling and expanding.

Hong long long……

A exploding sound rang out as dust flew everywhere, Ou Nisi Te who was on the side jumped in fright. However seeing the shattered limestone Ou Nisi Te gazed at Ya Se as if he had seen a monster.

“Big.. Big brother, when did you become a bronze grade warrior? Ah~ that’s not right, you haven’t attained beast transformation yet this… this isn’t right, how can one shatter limestone without beast transformation, the teacher didn’t say anything about this.”

Ou Nisi Te’s jaw dropped open, desperately pulling on his hair, this kind of thing was clearly beyond the limits of his comprehension.

Zuo Liang quickly suppressed his emotions, as he wished to howl at the sky, however he knew that he needed to keep calm as this was just the beginning. “Ou Nisi Te you mustn’t tell anyone of what you saw today, understand?”

Ou Nisi Te was a bit puzzled however but whatever his brother said, he would do, thus he earnestly nodded his head. If his older brother said that something couldn’t be said there must be a reason that it mustn’t be said.

Ou Nisi Te returned to his kicking training, however these kicks were really hard for the one observing to endure: unstable, wobbly with not accuracy at all.

“Stop kicking, come over and imitate me.” Zuo Liang told Ou Nisi Te as he realised that his body coordination was a large issue. Because of his large build, adapting was not suited for him, therefore he needed to improve his bodys stability first.

Zuo Liang stood in an accurate horse stance 4, to hold the horse stance is beneficial to the core of the body 5. The horse stance was the top, perfected stance of the Chinese people as well as being very practical and simple.

“Big brother is this martial arts as well? It’s so strange is it even useful?”

“Hold the stance!” Zuo Liang commanded as he had already given up on explaining. To Ou Nisi Te being commanded was a lot more straightforward, than convincing him that it is a suitable method.

“Yes.”

Ou Nisi Te was complacent, wasn’t this just squatting, even squatting for a day would have no meaning.

Of course no one would hold the stance for an entire day. After ten or so seconds Ou Nisi Te squatted down. 6

“From now on you must hold this stance daily, you can proceed to the next step after you can hold it for an hour!”

“Yes, big brother”, Ou Nisi Te replied as his stubbornness was conquered, his fighting ability was not good enough, could it be that he didn’t know how to hold a stance either?

Ou Nisi Te’s legs and thighs stabilized, as at the beginning he had been easily tripped over by his relaxed older brother. Ou Nisi Te had also begun to realise that his lower body was unstable.

This is censored so it may not be accurate  The raws say small mouse and the only small mouse in know in chinese is the @ symbol (of course it would be strange if qi breathing techniques could create an actual living mouse) so I decided on a spiral  This is censored again   You can read about it at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_stance  The core is the muscles etc of the body  Censored again
