Chapter 81 Seeking Those Surnamed Jiang

Seeing him in his completely helpless state, Ye Fan’s heart felt somewhat sour.  Whenever he saw a strong evildoer bullying the weak, he would still become merciless, his heart turning ice-cold. It seemed like a contradiction, but this was what his nature dictated. Sympathy and an icy-cold ruthlessness existed at the same time within his heart. He didn’t know which side he was more partial towards.

For example, at this moment he was unconditionally merciless without the slightest pity in his heart. Stepping upon the Li family’s seventh master’s face, his voice was icy-cold as he said, “If you don’t want to suffer, you’ll answer whatever I ask you. Otherwise, you’ll learn the consequences.”

“Little brat…”

BANG!

Ye Fan kicked him, sending the Li family’s seventh young master’s teeth tumbling out. His originally fair and tender cheek was now swollen, and his mouth and nose were overflowing with blood.

“With your fair and tender skin, I’d say you look just like a eunuch. What do you say, how about I help you with that and make it so that it’s not just in name, but a reality as well?” Ye Fan once more took out the golden tome, holding it out as if he were about to cut something off, its golden light dazzling in the darkness.

“You...what are you planning on doing?!” The Li family’s seventh young master was now incomparably frightened.

“I’ll let you be a eunuch!”

“No, I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything!” The Li family’s seventh master was scared to the point that even his face had contorted. To men, that was something worse than death.

“You worthless trash.”

Ye Fan sat upon a bluestone not far away, silently listening to the recollection of past events. As expected, the deaths of Tingting’s parents were caused by the Li family’s cultivators. They didn’t care about the cost, trading with another cultivator for a certain kind of rare medicine that could cause powerful beasts to go berserk. Secretly scattering it upon Tingting’s parents’ bodies, the result was that when they went out to gather spiritual medicines, they were torn apart by a formidable Lightning Bird.

Of course, there were also some other dirty dealings and schemes going on behind the screen, stirring up people’s resentment. Ye Fan sighed. Whether it is the mortal world or the cultivator world, there’s no difference between them. Anywhere with people is bound to have complicated relationships and hatred. Even cultivators are not able to avoid this inevitability.

Ye Fan searched the man’s robes, finding a wooden case. Stepping on it and breaking it, drawing on the light from the moon and stars, he slowly opened the slightly heavy sandalwood case.

Inside was a light yellow rock, as thick as a thumb and as long as a finger. Although it was very small, it was heavy in his hand. Ye Fan sensed a vigorous vitality within it.

According to the ancient texts, when heaven and earth merged with Qi to form all living things, vegetation thrived, and creatures grew powerful. Spiritual medicines were countless and even many Sources were formed. These amber-like crystals had a huge amount of Life Qi sealed within them. This is a Source?

Ye Fan looked it over repeatedly. He found that this Source was full of impurities. The sparkling portion was only one-third of the whole thing. This did cause him to be somewhat regretful that it wasn’t a pure Source.

But even so, he was still very pleased. Within this amber-like strange rock was stored an extremely vigorous Life Qi. The inside seemed to be circulating with colorful mist.

“Good stuff. I wonder if it can help me establish my Sea of Bitterness to a greater size?”

“That’s mine…” The Li family’s seventh young master’s moaned within a pool of blood. He was fuming with anger and resentment.

“Wasn’t this Source found within an ancient cave deep within the mountains? Is there just one piece, or are there others?”

Ye Fan tortured him a bit and the Li family’s seventh young master immediately told him everything without hiding anything. Within that ancient cave had been a cultivator who died while sitting. Too much time had passed, and even the cultivator’s bones had been eroded, only leaving this one Source.

“It really is regretful. I actually hoped that I could get more.” Even Ye Fan felt that he was being a bit too greedy.

“I’ve already told you everything. Can you still leave me a path to life?” The Li family’s seventh young master still had a trace of hope. He naturally knew that this was an excessive hope, and that the other side definitely wouldn’t let him off.

“When you were plotting and killing Tingting’s parents, were you ever merciful? When you forced Uncle Jiang and little Tingting through such bitterness and such a rough childhood, did you ever think to leave a path to life?”

Ye Fan kicked him, saying, “I’ll give you chance to do it yourself in order to avoid suffering. I still haven’t killed anyone yet, so I don’t want my hands to be stained with blood.”

“You…you haven’t killed anyone before?” The Li family’s seventh young master’s body trembled in anger when he heard this. “You…you will be punished! Struck by divine lightning!”

Ye Fan kicked him to a stone and said, “Knock yourself dead. If you force me to do it myself, I’ll first turn you into a eunuch and then take your life.”

At this moment, the Li family’s seventh young master went mad with outrage. Such a death was far too vexing. His opponent actually felt it was beneath him to do it himself, wanting him to kill himself!

“You little brat, you’re fucking disgraceful! I…even as a ghost, I will never let you off!” The Li family’s seventh young master was angered to the point he continuously coughed out blood.

Ye Fan sat on a bluestone not far from him, saying, “That’s a lot of useless words. Hurry up and get on your way, I don’t have the patience to wait.”

“You…I…” The Li family’s seventh young master was outraged, unable to even speak clearly. In the end, he let out a final bellow, “You’ll never die in peace!”

BANG!

He smashed his head against the stone, dying immediately.

“You killed yourself. I haven’t killed anyone.” Ye Fan stood, beginning to tidy up the traces. He spent over an hour completely removing any traces of what happened before walking back to the small town.

Although he appeared calm, his palms were actually sweaty as this was the first time he had killed someone in his entire life. Even though it was the seventh young master, filled with extreme sin and who deserved punishment, it still caused him some unease.

Having taken the Source, he didn’t impatiently begin using it. He clearly knew that the huge Life Qi stored within a Source, once activated, would release the energy in waves. If he wasn’t careful, it would be noticed by someone else. Currently, it was best for him to be more careful.

------

Over the next two days, Clearwind Town became much calmer. Only on the third day did the Li family’s other two cultivators return from the Hazy Light Paradise, and only then did chaos ensue, shaking the whole town.

“The Li family’s seventh young master has gone missing.”

“How could a cultivator just disappear?”

“This is the Li family’s judgment!”

“What judgment, it was definitely the Wang family’s people! Other than the Li family’s opposition, who else would dare to do this? Who else would have the ability?”

“Right, I heard the Li family people say that it was most likely that Source that brought about this misfortune.”

Even Clearwind Town’s ordinary people were discussing it like this, so it was easy to imagine how large the disturbance was. The entire Li household was completely furious, but at the same time, there was also some fear.

At the beginning, Ye Fan didn’t care. The Li family’s two cultivators that had returned had not yet reached the Spring of Life realm as they hadn’t arrived on divine rainbows, and so they weren’t that frightening. However, just a couple days later, the situation grew out of his expectations, and the disturbance gradually became bigger.

The Hazy Light Paradise unexpectedly also sent a couple Spring of Life realm cultivators over. They let the Li family lead the way to discover the ancient cave where the Source came from. Later, the Wang family’s cultivators’ masters also came, entering the deep mountains to find that ancient cave. Both parties only narrowly avoided getting violent with each other.

“Did they actually find a Source Vein?” Today, ten horsemen came to Clearwind Town. Their mounts were extremely fierce mystical beasts, each covered in dense armor, their heads extremely lofty.

The central beast was the most extraordinary. Its whole body was covered in golden scales that shone with golden splendor, appearing like golden flames were igniting on it. Its shape was like a golden divine Tiger Dragon, but its head had two additional horns. Golden rays circled around the horns, and they seemed like very formidable divine spirit weapons. Its four hooves didn’t touch the ground; it was actually always three inches above the ground, floating upon the empty air. It was easy to wonder just how powerful this beast was.

The golden divine Tiger Dragon had a twenty-four year old man mounted upon it. He was wearing white robes, seeming very scholarly. His face had a gentle smiling expression, appearing very handsome. His eyes were deep like water, flowing with divine splendor.

Beside him were two other mounts. On his left was a cyan beast similar to a lion or tiger. Its fur was very long and pure, sparkling like jade. Light circulated around its fur, and there was a jade horn upon its forehead that blossomed with five-colored divine light. This beast was also walking across empty space, not touching the ground. A sixteen-year-old youngster wearing green clothes was sitting upon it. A heroic air pressed down on others from him, but he also seemed to possess a faint arrogance, disdainfully looking down on the small town.

On the other side was a beast that appeared like a Divine Deer. Its body was covered in silver scales, and at the center of its forehead was a third eye. Its body radiated a holy light as it also stepped across the empty air. A teenaged maiden was mounted upon it. Her beautiful eyes seemed to contain a hazy mist, and her red lips made her appear extremely beautiful. However, she gave people a feeling of being high out of their reach, possessing a proud aura.

Behind these three people, each of the dozen or so beasts behind them were also not ordinary, all being very rare beasts. Their bodies were either scaled or like jade, each flickering with light. The others mounted upon them were all twenty to twenty-four years old. Whether it was a man or women, they all possessed a solemn air. A powerful battle intent had condensed around them.

Ye Fan saw all of this from a distance. He couldn’t help but take in a breath of cold air. Just where did these people from? They definitely were not ordinary people!

Let alone the three leaders, even the dozen or so horsemen behind them were not weaker than the cultivators he had seen from the Ancient Desolation Nobilities and the Sacred Lands at the Demon Emperor’s tomb. A powerful battle intent and killing air blew from them.

“May I ask if there is a family whose surname is Jiang in this small town?” At this moment, a horseman asked.

Ye Fan’s heart immediately jumped. What were they doing asking for people whose family name was Jiang?
