Chapter 50 — This Male Lead is a bit Crazy (50)
He didn’t dare to look at the girl as he murmured, “…Two points for the fish tank, please.”
Only when she took the tank and led the man away did the owner let out a big sigh of relief. “That man…is too intimidating.”
Huo Junhan walked around the market carrying the fish tank. His long, delicate fingers added a touch of elegance and nobility to the tank, making it look like a work of art. 1
Shen Mubai felt sharp gazes thrown their way, mostly by women. They didn’t hide their admiration but kept at a distance due to the man’s imposing manner.
A bolder and more direct girl openly called out to him, but it was useless—he didn’t even give her half a glance, but instead firmly planted his eyes on the girl next to him.
Shen Mubai had been wondering what the male lead’s reaction would be to the looks thrown at him, so she looked up and coincidentally met his eyes.
His eyes were lowered, dim and clouded. He stared at the girl intently.
In that moment, Shen Mubai felt like he was a dangerous predator, and she was his prey, facing danger of having her bones broken and swallowed whole.
“I heard that the leaders of City A base are coming today?” An ability user asked his companion with a lowered voice.
“Hey, a lot of people already know—it’s no secret.” His companion sneered.
The user continued to inquire, “What are they doing here in S City instead of staying at their base?”
To this, his companion leaned in and whispered, “Didn’t they find the King of Zombies a few days ago? I’m guessing our base is going join forces with City A to capture it.”
The user was shocked, exclaiming, “Isn’t that Zombie King especially fierce?”
“I heard that other bases want to join, too.”
Though the nuclei of lower-level zombies weren’t bad, the nuclei of higher-level zombies could be used to enhance their abilities. What nuclei would be the highest ranked? Of course the King of Zombies! It was said that the ability user that attained the King’s nuclei would become the strongest on the planet.
It was impossible not to be attracted to the rumors, but this was the King of Zombies. No matter how ambitious or how much strength they had, they were just heading to their deaths.
Although the two men tried to hide their conversation about the Zombie King, they were unaware it was all heard by a tall handsome man.
His ice-blue eyes gradually deepened, and his powers surged violently inside of him. The goldfish tank in his hands started to crack, making the fish inside turn its belly up and pretend to die.
Shen Mubai, noticing the change in Huo Junhan, immediately knew what was wrong. “System, was the leader of city A the one who collaborated with his subordinates to harm Huo Junhan?”
“Yes, it is him.”
She grew more confused. “So, does that mean he’s recovered his memory?”
“No, it’s just the instinct left in his body. Even if he did recover his memories, he still wouldn’t be the same person as before.”
Chapter 51 — This Male Lead is a bit Crazy (51)
Now that Huo Junhan was reborn as a zombie, his past memories were useless to him.
Shen Mubai, who had been brimming with joy, suddenly deflated. It seemed that she had not escaped being his foodstock.

The system sounded too calm, Shen Mubai had some doubts and said, “You’re not deceiving me, are you?”
System: “So smart, you’re amazing.”
Shen Mubai: “….”
Huo Junhan had disappeared again. Shen Mubai thought that it was possible he had gone to kill the base leader of City A.
Just as she was fantasizing about the bloody massacre, he came back.
He was carrying a plastic bag. He stopped in front of her and dropped it on the table, his eyes drooping slightly. His voice was a little rough as he said, “Are there any other energy stones in S City?” 1
After that one time they went out to eat, they had never gone back. And that plastic bag of goodness was to blame.
She opened the bags, and when she saw chicken legs inside, her eyes lit up. She said, “Only the one we bought.” 2
Her cheeks were stuffed full and she mumbled out, “Tomorrow we can leave the base.”
Huo Junhan’s eyes stared at the chipmunk cheeks she was filling up and didn’t say anything.
Not hearing a reply, Shen Mubai looked up at him. Her eyes met blue ones, and her hands shook, almost dropping the chicken legs.
His eyes darkened. “Do you like it that much?”
Shen Mubai furiously nodded, “Like it.” An intoxicated look on her face. “Meat is the best food in the world.” After saying that, she gnawed on two more chicken legs and said with tears in her eyes, “It’s so good to be alive.”
The system had no doubt, if the man were to give her another chicken leg, Shen Mubai would kneel on one knee and pledge her loyalty to him.
Huo Junhan didn’t understand her happiness. The light in his eyes diminished a little and stared at the girl happily eating her food. The more happy she was, the more they dimmed. If Shen Mubai had raised her head at this moment, she would have been scared to death by his eyes. 3

In S City, if you wanted to support yourself, you would have to take on tasks and earn points. Although the tasks taking place within the base offered few points, it was safe, so most of the task takers in the base were people with no ability.

Chapter 53 — This Male Lead is a bit Crazy (53)
He had run his hand through her hair before moving his eyes away and said in a cold voice, “Let’s go.”
Shen Mubai had touched the place where the man’s hand had been and felt that his behavior was becoming even more odd.
They had headed to the mission board after that and what greeted them was the sight of the registrar sitting in his seat yawned, seeming a bit bored.
A loud knock on his desk startled him. The registrar was a bit confused at the sudden sound, and looked up to see a long, bony hand. The stoic face in front of him was giving off an overbearing, oppressive pressure.
He raised his eyebrow slightly and glanced at the bulletin board. There was no expression on the beautiful man’s face as he said, “Third row, level A task.”
The registrar opened the book and said, “Name?”
“Huo Junhan, Song Qingqing.”
The registrar lifted his pen and was about to write down their names when he suddenly pulled back. He read the details for the assignment and his face was somewhat shocked and astonished.
He hadn’t seen anyone so anxious to die.
He looked at the girl standing besides the man. He could tell she was a bit older than she looked, but not by much. She was probably around seventeen or eighteen years old. She was very beautiful, and he couldn’t think of a reason as to why they would take this mission.
He shook his head and thought of where the mission was located. He couldn’t help but show his disapproval and say, “You might want to think this over. Once you take on this task, there’s no room for regret.”
Hearing his words, Shen Mubai was confused and asked the system, “System, did the male lead choose a problematic task?”
System: “Don’t worry.”
Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she heard the system say, “But, it is very close to where the King of Zombies is.”
She choked so hard she could barely breathe, her pale face turning crimson due to the lack of sufficient oxygen.
Huo Junhan turned towards her and leaned down slightly, raising her chin towards him. He slightly frowned and asked, “Need something?”
Even if this zombie looked like a human, his communication skills were not up to par. But Shen Mubai, who had been with him for several months, immediately understood. She raised her dampened eyes and her voice seemed a bit softer than usual. “Choked on my saliva.”
He frowned again and seemed dissatisfied with this girl’s fragile body, but when he saw her misty eyes, he felt that strange sensation again in his chest.
He released his hold on her chin and straightened. “Stupid.” 1
He went back to the registrar and said coldly, “Write it.”
The registrar’s sympathetic eyes landed on Shen Mubai as she followed the man out.

Listening to the reports of his subordinate, Lu Zhihai furrowed his eyebrows. “You mean to say they’ve taken on a level A task on the outskirts of Nancheng?”
The user nodded his head. “Yes, Haixiao.”
Lu Zhihai slowly tapped the table with his fingers. He had accidently discovered that all the leaders at the base had been trying to recruit this man named Huo Junhan, including his own father. Who knew that he wouldn’t give any face to them? Although thunder abilities were rare, he was the first to be so arrogant and not put anyone in his eyes.
And even though the leaders of the base didn’t say anything, their hearts still felt unhappy at being ignored and turned away like that. In Base S, powerful users could freely join any faction.For the sake of the thunder ability, however, every authoritative personage had appealed to Huo Junhan, with each stronger and more powerful than the last. But, at the end of the day, they were all rejected.
Several of these forces openly fought for his favor, while others secretly came to gain his favor, but they were met with the same reaction.
Lu Zhihai did not know how ignorant this man could be—did he really think that he was that important?
Although Lu Zhihai wasn’t as liked as his brother, he wasn’t treated badly. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have as much power as he does in the base. As long as he wanted something, he would get it.
He pondered for a while, humming a tune, before breaking out in a chuckle. “Instead of getting those old forces mixed up, let me start by talking to my father. Maybe I will even be rewarded.” And…maybe he could catch that little beauty. What was the saying? Two birds with one stone?
“Go to the mission board… You know what to do, right?” He said to his subordinate.
His plan was simple. Join their team, cultivate feelings with the woman, and let that man “unfortunately” perish during the task. Then, that beautiful woman can lean on him after she loses her lover. 1
His subordinate couldn’t help but speak up, “Young master, on the outskirts of Nancheng is…”
Lu Zhihai waved his hand and interrupted him, “Naturally, I have my own way.”
How could he not know that beyond the outskirts of Nancheng was one of the most densely packed zombie base? That’s why he was more confident in his plan. Besides, as long as he had his powers, those zombies were nothing.

Being the strongest base, City S had highly protective walls that had electric wires lining the top. If an attack occurred, zombies who climbed the wall would be burnt to a crisp.
But Huo Junhan never put these protective measures in his eyes; he had never paid any attention to the walls and tall doors that City S was proud of.
Shen Mubai glanced at the man next to her. She asked the system, “Who is more powerful, him or the Zombie King?”
System: “Right now, they are equals.”
She went silent and immersed herself in feelings of desolation.
System was silent for a while too. “Have more trust in him.”
Shen Mubai: “Should I trust him to not eat me?”
One person, one system, both fell into silence.
Base S’s entry and exit inspection was strict, and while Huo Junhan and Shen Mubai underwent security check, the exit inspectors couldn’t help but sneaking glances at the pair. The tall, handsome man with his ice-blue eyes glanced at the inspectors. They felt a cold chill run through them and quickly retracted their gazes.
After checking the two, the inspector said, “You can go.”
Just as they were about to leave the base, there was a shout behind them, “Wait a minute!”
Shen Mubai looked behind them and saw more than twenty people dressed in the same clothes and heavily equipped. In front, there was a handsome man, and perhaps because he felt her stare, his eyes were especially bright, his refreshing face contorting into an over-enthusiastic smile.
This handsome man was Lu Zhihai, who had come bearing twenty high-leveled ability users.
The person who had shouted them, however, wasn’t him, but the registrar of the mission office. The registrar came up to them, breathless, and said, “You can’t leave yet.”
Seeing Lu Zhihai, the registrar straightened his body a little and called out to him in a somewhat flattering tone, “Young master Hai?”
Lu Zhihai was focused on the girl in front of him and nodded absent-mindedly at the registrar.
