for her earlier life."

"Did you tell him why you don't think that's very

healthy?"

"I tried." Audrey shook her head. "But I don't think he

heard me."

"Poor Jed. He's such a decent person. I know he only

wants to do what's right. It has to be hard on him trying to

understand all these things."

"And all these women in his life..." Audrey chuckled.

"Plus he's spending so much time with Michael these

days. I suppose I just need to be patient and cut him some

slack until he gets things figured Out.'' Yet at the same time,

Maggie couldn't wait to get home and see if he'd answered

her email.

"You might be right to just play it cool," agreed Audrey.

"Anyway, I invited them all for dinner on Wednesday night.

Will that work for you?"

"This looks really good, Scott, but do you think it's complete

yet?"

He frowned. "Well, I thought I could run this piece now,

and then continue following it up, you know-sort of an

ongoing report about what's going on in Randy Ebbert's

hate camp."

She nodded. "I suppose so. But we want to be careful not

"Probably not." She handed the story back. "I'm sure

when he reads this, he'll be more likely than ever to start
