Chapter 14. Godly Help

When he heard Hua Ji wanted to send Lord Jellyfish off, Boss Wu took advantage of the time when he approved of the request to schedule two more commercial photoshoots for him.

It was the same swim trunks manufacturer as last time. The manufacturer boss felt that Hua Ji had good work ethics, his appearance was also excellent. Although he wasn't very well known, at least he had no bad publicity and he also had a relatively large role in 'The Outstanding, Charming Maiden'. The manufacturer decided to just leave all the printed commercials to him as well.

Miss He Bai recently had some insight towards acting and her performance could be said to be pretty good. However, Hua Ji had deep suspicions towards this news. This was because it was now Fei Ka and the girl's turn to film. Every single time Fei Ka came back, his mood was particularly poor. Especially ever since the crow that went to Guangzhou to transcend his tribulation returned, Fei Ka would simply revert into his original body and have the crow carry him back in a bird cage.

Even more shockingly, Fei Ka's multi-coloured feathers actually became drab and dull, feathers were even f*cking falling out!!

Hua Ji privately enquired Fei Ka about what in the world happened to him. Fei Ka dispiritedly told Hua Ji what happened.

It turns out, this was the first time the girl had ever acted. In the beginning, everyone was afraid she would anger the old senior playing the part of Old Lady Bai Mei. Before filming started, when the girl hugged her script and shyly looked for Old Lady Bai Mei to rehearse, Old Lady Bai Mei appeared quite severe. However, when she talked a bit with the girl, she found that this girl wasn't as difficult as she had expected.

As He Bai was a cultivator, her memory need not be said; she memorised the lines until she was very familiar with them. Even though her expression was a bit fake, a beat behind what she was saying, it was no problem when acting out a few simple expressions.

Furthermore, the first scenes to be shot were the ones of Maiden He Bai following her master, Old Lady Bai Mei, to study cultivation. Originally, the girl was already cultivating in the sect; all there was to do was to imagine her master's face as Old Lady Bai Mei's. With this layer of substitution, it allowed He Bai to restart filming from the top. The girl's acting ability was presumed to also steadily improve.

It could be said that to let He Bai to act successfully, Li Shun Hua put in not a little amount of effort to organise the production schedule. After continuously discussing with Director Yu, he did not hesitate to delay the shooting schedule. He was even willing to turn a blind eye to his most hated Hua Ji, letting the fox roam around freely and unfettered; all for the sake of ensuring his Junior Martial Sister's acting to go smoothly.

Nowadays, the one paying was their respected Elder. The sect was rich, forking out large sums of money to specially create a show for the maiden to act in. Furthermore, as the filming period dragged on, this girlie would also gain some sense for acting and the later parts would be easier to film. Naturally, Director Yu was full of agreements.

It was just…… their way of thinking was quite beautiful.

It was completely unexpected that the rehearsals which went so smoothly in private, when translated into actual filming, would be result in NGs on the first day of filming.

It was even a countless number of NGs.

The reason was extremely simple: She was nervous= =

Actual filming was different from rehearsals. During rehearsals, nobody would be nearby; during actual production, there would at least be several tens of crew members in the vicinity. Being a cultivator, the girlie's senses were extremely sharp. Even if it was just ordinary people that gave her brief glances, she would be acutely aware of them all. What more several tens of people all staring intensely at her?

In the sect's training, it was important for them to sense people's gazes to identify the enemy, to avoid being in a disadvantageous position during a battle. This habit caused the girl no small amount of suffering.

Li Shun Hua comforted his Junior Martial Sister, "Just pretend they're all watermelons!!"

He Bai pulled a long face. "That's impossible ah. I always unconsciously become on guard. What to do?"

"I'll be keeping watch by the side, how could there be any danger?"

He Bai crisply said, "Senior Martial Brother, how could you have forgotten? Didn't Master teach us to not trust anyone outside, only trust in the blades in our hands?"

"……" Li Shun Hua felt stifled in his heart.

However, the girl's words indeed enlightened Li Shun Hua. He allowed the girl to wield the familiar immortal sword she used during day-to-day practice when training cultivation arts and sword arts.

Anyway, according to the script the Female Lead was also a swordmaster. Carrying a sword with her wherever she went was also perfectly normal.

With her longsword in hand, He Bai's heart suddenly had a measure of confidence. When filming resumed, she seemed to have become much more like her ordinary self. The previous few times she stuttered a bit, but the fifth time was finally a success.

He Bai was her Master's little disciple. During a typical day, besides training, she would be kept close to her Master's side and doted on. His precious disciple wanted to go down the mountain to temper herself, he as the old Master would naturally have to bring out some good stuff. Among those things included this immortal sword.

The Concealed Light Immortal Sword, it's might…… en, was truly not ordinary. Word had it that the blade of the sword was made using the wood of a thousand-year-old peach tree. There were even multiple runes carved on it, using it to kill demons and exterminate ghosts was very convenient.

The girl constantly carried the Concealed Light Sword during filming, for humans there was no problem. For demons……

En, just like how Fei Ka is.

Hua Ji's head grew larger by three sizes after he finished listening[1].

"Are you joking? Touting around thousand-year peach wood to act alongside us? What if her grip slips and she stabs that into us? Does she still want to let us demons live?!"

Crow Hei immediately chimed in in support, a face full of anger, "That's right, that's right! Fei Ka was brushed by that Concealed Light Sword; as a result, he dropped feathers for two days straight!!"

…… No wonder those multi-coloured feathers became drab and dull= =

Hua Ji remembered that not long after this would be his turn to film with He Bai and a pained feeling engulfed him.

To the old demons like them, it was a simple task to kill the little maiden. However, the problems that would arise after that were not little. If he went to seek trouble with the sect for a matter like losing fur…… en, it was somewhat shameful.

After thinking hard, Hua Ji thought of the omnipotent Lord Jellyfish!

That's right, Lord Jellyfish wouldn't spend more than two days to take all the exams, they would be over very quickly. With Lord Jellyfish by his side, he had nothing to fear!

Thinking 'til here, Hua Ji was once again excited. Aaaaaaah, he needed to see Lord Jellyfish off to his exams!!

Lord Jellyfish received his ID and academic records from the Mystical Protection Department. Since he was affiliated to some high school in B city, this time's exams he was naturally taking it as a B city candidate.

B city had the most outstanding university in the country, there was also the highest concentration of universities in this location, yet the cut-off score was not high. This morning, Lord Jellyfish punctually arrived at the examination grounds. He deliberately changed his hair colour to black for the day as well as adjusted his attractiveness to not cause any disturbances. He carried his small book bag, preparing to enter the exam grounds.

The exam grounds was a school. The school's main gates were clustered with expectant parents. These parents earnestly looked at the school, as if their lifetime's worth of hope was contained inside.

As he walked, he heard quite a few parents repeatedly reminding the examinees.

"You have to seriously take the exams, only answer after reading the questions properly. Do you understand?"

"Take the exams seriously. Once the exams are over, mom will take you overseas for a vacation."

"Don't be nervous. Answer to your usual standards. Dad believes in you."

"Son, you have to be calm, whether you score well or not doesn't matter. However, this is the time to test what you learned from the previous six years. Surely you don't want to leave behind any regrets, right?"

"Do your best!"

As Lord Jellyfish walked among these parents and students, in a daze, he seemed to have returned to several hundred years ago. At the entrance of the examination halls, these students would carry their baskets and walk through the doors with their heads held high. Their families and friends would wait outside, watching them from afar as carriages clustered together.

Innumerable months and years passed. Some things changed, yet some things didn't change, would never change.

Walking to the school's gates, there were security guards inspecting students' examination passes and IDs.

Lord Jellyfish halted his footsteps. A girl was frantically rifling through her book bag in front of him. After searching for a long time, she still couldn't find her ID. She was so panicked, she was on the verge of tears.

Lord Jellyfish looked at the girl. Her eyes were filled with despair. The exams would start in 20 minutes; there wouldn't be any time for her to return home to get her ID!!

Lord Jellyfish suddenly reached his hand out to fish out a language book from the girl's book bag. He shook the book and a card-sized ID fell out from it.

The girl blankly stared at her ID, slowly lifting her head.

Lord Jellyfish silently looked at the girl. "There's no need to be anxious, no need to be fearful."

He thought for a bit; typically, during this sort of situation the family's support was the most important. He said, "You parents are looking at you."

The girl hadn't been crying before but now, tears filled her eyes and flowed down her cheeks. She hastily wiped her face, revealing a brilliant smile. "Thank you!"

Lord Jellyfish blinked and the security guard by the side also loosed a breath. The guard indicated for the girl to go in; she walked two steps before turning back and raising a fist towards Lord Jellyfish. "You need to work hard too!"

Lord Jellyfish nodded.

The girl spoke again, "Your family's also looking at you!"

Lord Jellyfish blanked for a moment. His family? He didn't have family? No, he did have family. The several billion jellyfish in the oceans were all his family.

Only…

He followed the girl's line of sight and turned back to spot Hua Ji squeezing through the crowd towards him.

Hua Ji revealed a large grin, continuously waving his fist, loudly shouting, "Good luck!"

Lord Jellyfish blankly looked at Hua Ji. As he needed to focus on the exams and Hua Ji's side temporarily had nothing going on, he retrieved his consciousness from the small jellyfish yet did not fathom that the little fox would run over here.

He murmured, "…… Why did he come over here?"

The girl by his side said, "To see you off for the exams! Isn't he a family member?"

Lord Jellyfish shook his head. "No."

The girl let out a sound of surprise. She unconsciously said, "Wow, could he be the lover?"

Lord Jellyfish was stunned stiff.

They are… lovers?

"How did you get this conjecture?"

"That's because this is the most important moment in a person's life! So important that besides family, only a lover's encouragement can let you be filled with fighting spirit!"

The girl grinned widely. "I need to go for my exams now!" She waved at him. "Good luck!"

Lord Jellyfish looked at the girl's back as she left then turned his head back. The little fox was still furiously waving at him, a brilliant smile on his face like the glimmering rays of sunshine that descended to the ocean floor. It gave off a faint sense of warmth.

A corner of Lord Jellyfish’s mouth unconsciously hooked up and he revealed a smile.

…… Lovers, huh?

[1] His head didn’t really grow bigger by three sizes. It’s just a way to say someone has a lot to think about or they’re overwhelmed by information.
