「Nn….」
This place is…?
When I woke up, I saw the whitest ceiling I had ever seen. While my head was still cloudy, the faint smell of chemicals came to me.
…….Is this some kind of facility?
When thinking of that, I felt a presence draw closer.
「Nn? Oh! Looks like you're awake！」
The one who peeked into my face was a dauntless red-headed young man with strong-willed golden eyes.
「Reaally, suddenly collapsed like that sure made me exasperated!」
「Collapsed…?」
Speaking of which, I was going to use 『Power』――――
Thinking up until that point, a huge rumbling sound came from my stomach.
It was so loud that it surprised the man.
「Hey, hey…having your stomach growl as soon as you get up…」
「Umm…」
Even if you told me so, I'm hungry. I can't help it. However, it is also a fact that there isn't any food. How difficult.
「That's right. Lemme ask ya before Sensei comes. Who the hell are you?」
「Name? The name is Zephys Deu Rouzen.」
「…What a preposterous name. I'm Theold. Nice to meet cha! …So what's up with that armor? I was wondering if I should have removed it after you fell down. Although I couldn't really take it off…it isn't cosplay, right?」
「Is there something wrong with it?」
「No, I just thought it looked kind of stifling. Why not wear something more comfortable?」
I have no idea about this cosplay thing, but wearing this armor sure makes no sense at all while out of combat. Convinced by the youngster, Theold, I immediately thought of taking off the armor before it drifted away as light particles.
「Would this be okay?」
「… I’ve been surprised since before, but that really isn’t a cosplay but a 【True Arms】, huh」
I've heard a couple of unfamiliar words since before… How long had I been out since 『that fight 』? I thought I recovered after I woke up, but just using a little power has made me hungry already. Umu…
As I was mulling over it, Theold, for some reason, clutched his brow.
「Indeed I told him to take off his armor, but in the end his clothes don't look that comfortable, don't they… no, it suited him? It frighteningly suited him… what age did he come from…」
Again, he said something strange. I was dressed in a white dress shirt with a black vest on top. For me, a frock coat with gold embroidery on top of the black was typical.
「Hey. For real… who are you really？You……」
I felt the presence of someone else as I watched Theold hold his head. The presence's owner strode straight towards us.
「Hello. Has he woken up?」
「Ah, sensei!」
A woman with a white coat and what I think as an unusual pair of glasses came in. She seemed to be older than Theold. Her purple hair was tied back into one, and her eyes of the same color had a tender vibe.
「Oh, looks like you're up. I am this place――Eradicator school【Ragnarok】's medical examiner Viola. How are you doing?」
「Eradicator? Ragnarok?」
What's that? I've never heard of it.
While all sorts of questions fly through my head, Theold explains things to the woman named Viola.
「Sensei! This guy is strange!. Ah, the name goes by Zephys it seems, but as you can see, like, his clothes for one… anyway, it's insane！」
「Looks like it.」
To my ignorance, I was labeled as insane. I don't understand.
「Uhm, Zephys-kun, can I ask a question?」
「Ask me anything.」
When I calmly said that, they both let out a small sigh.
「Nn? What's wrong?」
「…No, it was just your voice for a moment there.」
「Voice?」
…Come to think of it, since long ago, there have been many cases where opponents would settle things after hearing my voices. It doesn't matter though.
「Nnn！I'll get back to that. Then, the thing that I wanted to ask was……【Eradicator】, does that word sound familiar to you?」
「It doesn't.」
「Then, do you know what country is this?」
「I don't know.」
「Where did you come from?」
「Due to me being unconscious, I'd be stumped as to answer where I come from. It is a place that is surrounded by nature, such as the sea, the mountains, and so forth.」
「Errr…then the last question.―――― Do you know about the【Heaven Realm’s Tribe】?」
「Yeah.」
The images of the gods and angels that I fought flashed across my mind as I nodded.When I answered truthfully, Viola hesitantly asks me another question.
「What does the Angel Tribe mean to you?」
「An opponent to be taken down, the enemy of mankind.」
That's right, they are not allies of mankind. They are a group who kill humans for fun.Therefore, the humans broke off their relationship with the gods. Hearing my answer, Viola heaved a sigh of relief.
「Whew… sorry about that. There isn't much of what we know about you… I was being a little apprehensive there.」
「It's not unreasonable.」
「…I've been hearing that for a while now, but you really sound like gramps, Zephyr …」
「It's been like this since long time ago. Pay it no mind.」
While I was talking with Theold, Viola was working on a strange thin plate before I noticed it.
「…as I thought, there is no Zephys recorded in the family registry. I thought he might be an abandoned orphan, but that can't be right according to the way that he dresses… Who are you really?」
Viola looked at me, troubled.
「Sensei, what will ultimately happen to Zephys?」
「Let's see……either way I cannot do as I wish until I speak with the headmaster. With that, I'd like you to hang out with me for a little bit longer, is that alright?」
「Not a problem.」
The moment I nodded in response to Viola's words, my stomach growled again. Not to mention, it was even louder than before.
「…Shall we go after a meal?」
I silently nodded.
