"Since Your Highness is bringing Si Nan Yan to Yong Province, then for this matter, this Consort can—"
"There is no need for preferential treatment," Zhu Feng interrupted.
"I won’t waste any time on this. Act however you see fit."
Xu Miaoyin glimpsed at him before acquiescing.

It had yet to be dusk, nonetheless Nan Yan was already awake and sitting on the bedside. She was watching the light vanquishing shadows on the floor as the sun was rising. Yet, her own world seemed to remain in the dark.
A weak light coming from outside interrupted her somber thoughts and slowly made its way to her.
Clang!
The lock was suddenly opened.
Nan Yan slowly raised her head and saw two figures standing at the door.
One of them was carrying a lantern in her hand which, as she stepped into the room, that lit it up with a faint red glow.
Nan Yan looked up and said calmly to the person in the black cloak behind the person with the lantern. "This servant greets Imperial Concubine An," Nan Yan calmly greeted only to be met with silence.
With her identity revealed, Imperial Concubine An stepped out from behind the first intruder holding the lantern, and let the light chase away the darkness covering her face. It was undoubtedly Gao Yu Rong facing Nan Yan.
"Xiu'er, you wait outside," she ordered the servant.
"Yes."
Xiu'er went out while carrying the lantern.
The room returned to its former gloominess and was poorly lit again, but the current occupants of the room could still see each other clearly.
Gao Yu Rong slowly drew closer and said, "It seems that you already know what is going on."
"This servant is hoping for Imperial Concubine An to spare her life this time," Nan Yan replied from her bed, not denying the accusation.
Her tone was measured and gentle as if it wasn’t her own life she was pleading for. Yet, this managed to unnerve Gao Yu Rong and her breathing started to become shallow.
"What? Spare your life? I don’t understand."
