Chapter 41: Recuperating Injuries

Outside the mud cave, shiny dew remaining from the night before dripped from leaf blades.

Although the trees shield Zhang Yang from the sunlight, the massive amounts of Yang Qi generated in the area is truly suffocating. It was practically a volcano outside the cave.

"Sigh. I guess I'll have to resort to the Yin Beads…"

Zhang Yang reaches for his pouch before realizing his severe problem.

The pouch itself is considered an interspatial storage treasure, a magical item. The pouch is irregular, only to be opened by spiritual power, and without spiritual power, there is no hope in accessing the pouch.

Now since Zhang Yang's Qi Seas were ruptured, he is considered a common zombie. Without his spiritual power, there was no pouch to use.

Meaning that even though he holds the extraordinary Yin Beads, his usage for them are restricted.

"Horrible! Why is all this misfortune falling on me? Exactly what have I done to the heavens? I have been working my way up, my Yin Beads, talismans, and spiritual powers. They're all gone!."

Zhang Yang wanted to cry, let all his emotions out. But he knew even if he did, it wouldn't solve anything.

Now with Zhang Yang's frail condition, it would be impossible for him to defend himself against creatures stronger than the previous crocodiles. There was no way he could fight, so instead, he decided to try his luck by sprinting into the forest. The forest has trees that can provide a barrier for Zhang Yang, thus giving shelter from the menacing sun.

Zhang Yang leaves the area of the crocodile lair, within the depths of the forest, he locates some humans. The humans were lumberjacks, also known as wood harvesters, possibly collecting timber to support their village or town. Zhang Yang couldn't hide fast enough, so his entire was exposed to these innocent mortals.

The two lumberjack soon had their eyes on the zombie. Eyes widen as one dropped their axe midst chopping, trembling in fear while the other became so terrified that he immediately fainted, dropping in a comical manner.

"Although they are thin, they can still provide blood. Perhaps, if I drink their blood…"

Zhang Yang swallows a mouthful of saliva, and although he manages to contain his blood-sucking desires, they were still domineering against his undead mind.

"Each of these young men have families, possibly even wives and kids waiting for them at home. If I eat them, their families would certainly be unable to cope."

Zhang Yang still kept a fragment of his human nature. His resolve was to only kill those who targeted him. He could only drink the blood of enemies, killing an innocent would plague his dirtied heart even more. He must not kill an innocent, even if he is in the worst condition.

"I am a good man! Uh…a good zombie?" Zhang Yang sighed to himself as he continued to creep away.

Now that he has discovered the existence of the spiritual mark, he can be sure that the Corpse Refining Sect won't find him. All he needs now is the perfect Yin environment.

As he turns to leave, Zhang Yang hears some "Su-su" sounds.

He turns around to find a thick bowl-sized boa crawling down a nearby tree. The boa planned to consume the fainted human.

The boa draped out his crossed "Y" tongue, letting out some droplets of saliva before staring at Zhang Yang with a threatening gaze.

"Dong!"

Zhang Yang leapt forward, alerting the boa. The boa stopped moving downwards before turning Its angled head towards Zhang Yang, giving him yet another warning glare.

On the third day after Zhang Yang had arrived in this world, he had killed a boa just like this one. Although he has lowered to the level of a Hopping Zombie, his experience is much higher than before. Plus, his nails remained the same, with this and his experience, killing the boa would be an easy task.

"The lumberjack fainted because of me, and if you were to kill him, it would be just the same as me killing him." (Although Zhang Yang himself wouldn't have killed him, Zhang Yang would have felt responsible since he's the reason the Lumberjack fainted.)

"Plus, considering that I only need a little blood to recover and you happen to be here, you'll do just fine." While thinking such, Zhang Yang jumped forward again.

The boa assumed that the zombie wasn't very strong, and that It didn't want to attack him because there was food displaying itself on the ground in front. But now, a mere zombie wanted to fight for its food? This infuriates the boa since it thinks that this zombie wants to plunder his food.

“Si Si Si !”

This boa hangs out its tongue as it slithered towards Zhang Yang.

As they get closer to each other, the boa strikes first. Zhang Yang could clearly see the sharp fangs in the boa's mouth as it stricken towards him.

Zhang Yang growled deeply as he waved both of his built arms.

His fingers were like hooks as it stuck into the boa's flesh.

Zhang Yang's body gets thrown back from the momentum of the boa's strike.

As his body separated from the boa, he ripped out a large portion of the boa's flesh with him.

"Ao——–"

The boa writhes on the ground in pain.

With the sound of the winds, Zhang Yang stands up. He pounces onto the boa as It laid on the ground. The reaction of the boa wasn't slow either, as It quickly coiled around Zhang Yang's waist.

It then moved its body upward and attempted to restrict his arms and legs. Zhang Yang knew that he definitely couldn't let this happen, so he used his finger to cut the boa in half.

The boa then lets out a moan as it unwinded, its life force slowly draining away. Zhang Yang then kept cutting the boa. This thick bowl-sized boa fell to the ground as it died of dismemberment.

Then, Zhang Yang held Its body as he bit into the meat, consuming Its blood.

"Gudu-gudu"

Zhang Yang drank ever so happily. This feeling is simply exquisite, like gulping an ice-cold drink during a hot summer day, or walking into an air conditioned building after being in the sun for hours.

The method activates while Zhang Yang empties this snake.

In the past, the blood turned into Qi and traveled into the meridians within his chest and abdomen.

But now that they are broken the blood is wandering aimlessly throughout his body.

With the foundation created from the in , all of his cells have developed the habit of "breathing".

All the cells within his body were breathing in this Qi. The broken cells caused by the pill were beginning to recover.

The process will take time, but it was much better than being crippled.

Feeling as his strength returns, Zhang Yang couldn't help but feel excited.

FYI:

Sea of Qi is like a Qi container in his body, and cyclone of Qi is like a Qi converting machine (it converts Qi to spiritual power).

In the period of leveling up (walking zombie), Zhang Yang needs to build a small cyclone to reach the next level, and three small cyclone can merge into a big one. For example, when Zhang Yang is lvl 1 walking zombie, he has a cyclone in the abdomen, when he is lvl 2, he has two small cyclones in the abdomen, when he is lvl 3, he has a big cyclone (the combination of three cyclones) is his abdomen. All details are in the middle section of chapter 7. A little complex over here, but it's ok if you guys just ignore this kind of information, it doesn't change the book's reading experience.
