This chapter is rather technical so it took me and my editor quite a long time to finish translating and editing it. But at the end of the day, we are still not sure how to translate certain terms and paragraphs so if you spot any mistake, do let me know. While Gu Man was updating the novel online, she warned that the next chapter will not be sweet. Since the gaming part is finished, I’ll try to post weekly until the end which should be in March.

Regarding Shushengbar, it is taking such a long time to be restored because Chancy won’t be hosting the site anymore. So, my helper Amy is trying to restore the files saved and sent by Chancy in WordPress but the SQL file is missing so I’ve to wait for Chancy to get that to me. Moving SSB to WordPress has been very tedious and hard with many obstacles along the way. Amy has been very helpful and is doing her best since she also has her job and life to live. Be patient as we are still learning the ropes since both of us are not tech savvy. I hope I can share some good news with all of you soon.

Chapter 27 (translated by peanuts and edited by hoju)

Qiao Jing Jing: “???”

Wasn’t he chatting with me?! How did he take the first blood (initial advantage gained by one side in a game)?

The audience and the commentator were all baffled.

Because everyone had been watching Qiao Jing Jing’s development in the bottom lane, watching her placing the field of visions to hit the little monsters and so on, and the commentator had even been explaining what to pay particular attention to when placing the position of the field of vision, everyone had become immersed in a kind of farming-like peaceful atmosphere. How was it that first blood had arisen but the camera hadn’t even captured it?

Where did the director do?

Fortunately, there was the playback function.

In the replay, Zhou Yin's Dharma took the blue buff (blue buff gives you mana/energy regeneration and Cooldown Reduction and is more useful in a long-term fight) and advanced to the second level. Then bringing along Cai Wenji, he went into the other team’s red area to counter jungle (is the act of killing enemy jungle monsters, but leaving 1 behind to troll the enemy). Xuan Ce was interrupted while trying to get the red buff, so from two different lanes, Bull Demon and Mai Shiranui came to provide support. Yu Tu also came rushing over, surrounded by 5 ‘rebound’ magic spheres (after he leveled up to Level 5, five magic spheres will appear around him). A small-scale group battle took place between the two teams. Yu Tu’s Zhuge Liang was seen strolling, looking relaxed and at ease, through the jungle areas. Repositioning slightly, he avoided Mai Shiranui’s fan attack, then released all five magic spheres on Xuan Ce, who had only half a bar of HP (Hit Points - the amount of health a hero has. It can be used interchangeably with Health Points. In the game, it is called blood in Chinese) before following up with his first ability to magnify the damage, thus effortlessly getting the first blood.

Mai Shiranui did not dare jump into the fray again and threw fans from a distance. Dharma successfully took away the red buff (red buff slows and inflicts damage over time on your auto-attacks and is more useful in a straight up short fight).

Qiao Jing Jing could not see the replay, but she had a lot of complaints.

“When you’re fighting a group battle, can you not chat with me? Be more serious. If by chance we lose because you were playing around, my idol baggage will explode.”

Yu Tu said, “Mm-hmm, no playing around.”

His words were still ringing in her ears, but the result was, in the next instance, he and Zhou Yin were completely having a blast playing around. No communication between the two of them was heard at all, yet they worked together seamlessly, continuously invading the other's team red area, or going to the top lane to suppress Lady Sun’s development.

Oh, well, it wasn’t completely no communication. Most of the time, it went like this:

Zhou Yin: “Is it okay?”

Yu Tu: “Yes.”

Great! Let’s go! Start a small group.

Zhou Yin: “How’s that?”

Yu Tu: “Okay.”

Great! Let’s go! Release the small dragon tyrant/Pharaoh (a wild monster that you’ll get a buff for killing it).

Qiao Jing Jing: ….. Wait a minute, where did this mutual understanding between you two come from?

The rhythm that they had created together in mid-jungle was off to a flying start. Only a few minutes after the game started, they were already leading by a lot in gold and experience. The superiority of their lineup in the early stage had been played out brilliantly.

Qiao Jing Jing vaguely felt that when Yu Tu played with her, it seemed he had never played with such recklessness before. Could it be it was because her level was not on par with his? Then after meeting an expert like Zhou Yin, his hidden potentials were unleashed all at once?

Qiao Jing Jing worked quietly and diligently in the bottom lane. All of a sudden, she felt a little lonely.

Actually, she also had scored lots of hits on Zhuang Zhou in the bottom lane, but Zhuang Zhou had thick blood (plenty of HP) and could soak up damage. It was actually not easy for her Shou Yue, having not brought along any support, to ambush and kill him. She painstakingly only managed to push half a tower. Speaking of which, when she was practicing her heroes, she had also used Baili Shou Yue to engage in battle with Yu Tu’s Zhuang Zhou before. The outcome was that Yu Tu had pushed down the tower. Therefore, that uncle’s Zhuang Zhou was, comparatively, playing only so-so and a bit conservative, too, and could not compare at all with his performance with Hua Mulan in the previous game.

At this time, she had already exhausted two-thirds of Zhuang Zhou’s HP (blood). He was inside the tower and would not come out. Qiao Jing Jing was about to lead the minion wave into the tower, but suddenly she heard Yu Tu say, “Jing Jing.”

She instantly collected her thoughts. At the same time, she saw Mai Shiranui’s figure in her field of vision device. Without the slightest hesitation, she used an ultimate skill to jump backwards. After landing on the ground, without even a backward glance, she dashed off in a safe direction.

Her dodging move was like a falcon that swooped down the instant a hare was flushed out (quick reaction), extremely decisive, and earned the commentator’s praise. “Mai Shiranui came to support Zhuang Zhou, but Qiao Jing Jing reacted very quickly with an ultimate skill to escape and avoided Mai Shiranui’s fan. Otherwise a whole set of injuries inflicted on her would have been waiting for her.”

Qiao Jing Jing increased her distance of safety, and then immediately used her second skill, aiming it at Mai Shiranui, who was in her field of vision.

Mai Shiranui is a very flexible hero who has many types of positioning, and in addition, the opponent was a top-notch professional player. Both the audience and the commentator did not think that Qiao Jing Jing would be able to hit the target with one shot, and they were very laidback about it. Qiao Jing Jing was also not very confident. Thinking carefully, however, even Yu Tu’s Mai Shiranui, when engaged in battle with her, had once taken three consecutive shots from her and been killed. Her heart immediately calmed down.

Three red lines tilted at a slight angle, gathered together, moved. Released!

A “bang” sound was heard. The squishy (easy-to-kill) Mai Shiranui was practically left with half a bar of HP (blood).

The audience gasped in surprise.

Mai Shiranui’s HP (blood) level was at too low a level to be healthy, so he did not pursue further and choose to return to the minion wave near the tower. Qiao Jing Jing conservatively chose to chase after him a few steps and hide in the grass. The small map in the upper left corner indicated that Zhuge Liang was approaching. She prepared her second skill once again.

Qi Zhu’s (which literally means "riding the pig"; he is also known as God Zhu) very sensitively sniffed this out. Yu Tu’s Zhuge Liang only just appeared, but he had already thrown out the fan. Yu Tu used his second positioning skill to dodge it and, at the same time, get closer, and then he directly locked his ultimate skill on Mai Shiranui.

Commentator: “Mai Shiranui still has half a bar of HP (blood) left. Zhuge Liang's ultimate skill won’t be able to get an instant kill on him. Using the ultimate skill at this time is a little hasty…”

However, at this time, there was another “bang” sound. Another completely unexpected shot hit Mai Shiranui again. Immediately following, Zhuge Liang's ultimate skill exploded, and instantly took Mai Shiranui’s head.

The commentator unexpectedly exclaimed, “Ah! This rapport… Qiao Jing Jing is quite accurate with her shots.”

This time, what he said was not out of duty, but a genuine and sincere comment. “This cooperation this time between those two was really good. They managed damage ability and timing very accurately. Zhuge Liang’s positioning was very crafty. Of course, the crucial point is that both of Qiao Jing Jing’s shots were very accurate. Reasonably speaking, I am a little surprised.”

He was not the only one who was surprised, but the live broadcast platform was also full of ellipses.

“……Two consecutive shots. It seems we can’t say it was pure luck?”

“Damn! Been slapped in the face.”

“…the female celebrity is so awesome?”

"A little stunned. Absolutely didn’t expect that."

The battle was not over yet.

The kill was given to Zhuge Liang. Zhuge Liang once again dealt the fifth level of his passive/rebound move. Seeing that the situation was unfavorable, Zhuang Zhou quickly retreated. Zhuge Liang used his second skill to go into the tower, then released his ultimate skill and went out of the tower again. Next, a (A big ball of energy that is used for an attack) was once again dropped on Zhuang Zhou.

Two consecutive blows.

The bottom of the tower was damaged.

“This Zhuge Liang is called Yu Tu. The id is so cute, but he’s so ferocious when fighting, not cute at all.” The commentator sighed with feeling.

At this point, the rhythm of the game was basically in the control of the red team.

However, the playing field for a competition has always been ever changing. Being in an advantageous or disadvantageous position is merely the difference of one or two group skirmishes. Zhou Yin and Yu Tu did not want to drag the battle into the late stage of Lady Sun’s development and the rhythm became extreme. During the team battle to push the other team’s second tower in the middle lane, Mai Shiranui tricked Bai Qi into using his ultimate skill, which ended up missing the target. Dharma entered the tower to chase after a low-HP (Health Point) but was killed instead by Lady Sun. Although Zhuge Liang got two heads, the opposite team’s Mai Shiranui still managed to seize the opportunity to retaliate and use the ultimate skill to directly wipe out the whole team.

Mai Shiranui got three consecutive kills.

The Pluck Stars team seized the opportunity to go after the big dragon (killing it will give the slaying team an extra push towards victory. The experience and gold it provides upon defeat will make handling enemy heroes much easier), and then pushed the Good Luck Come team’s second tower in the middle lane.

Zhou Yin repeatedly sighed that they were reckless, just reckless. Yu Tu just smiled. “We were too careless. They are very powerful. My golden body (also known as Hui Yue is a life saving and return kill magical equipment) will be released soon.”

Their corpses were in disarray and scattered all over the ground. But his voice sounded very cheerful. Qiao Jing Jing could not help turning her head sideways to look at him. He was concentrating his attention completely on staring at his mobile phone, his fingers swiping over it as he checked the other team’s movements. His eyes were radiant with an eagerness to give something a try.

This big wave had let Lady Sun, who had all along been suppressed since the early stage, to find an opportunity to develop. But so far, the Good Luck Come team still had an advantage in terms of number of towers, XP (experience), and gold.

However, a few minutes later, Bai Qi made a mistake once again. During a minion wave clear, he penetrated too deeply. Although Zhou Yin was quick to warn him to withdraw, because of his reluctance to give up the minion wave clear, he dragged things out for a while, which resulted in him being surrounded by the enemy and instantly killed.

The five people from the enemy team quickly advanced and changed lane, charging directly to the middle lane’s second tower.

Both teams got caught up in a melee (all forms of close combat) once again.

Dharma struck down three people of the opposite team with one punch, and Qiao Jing Jing followed after with damage output to assist Dharma in killing Bull Demon. But because she had not positioned herself well, she lost lots of HP (blood) to Lady Sun.

She was very annoyed. “Why did I stand there?”

She straightaway pulled back and to snipe from a distance, but her first shot aimed at Lady Sun missed.

The commentator’s speech was already speeding up. “At the back, the minion wave is coming again. If the Good Luck Come team can’t hold their ground in defense, they may be run over by the wave!”

At this time, Yu Tu’s Zhuge Liang came from behind and charged straight into the enemy ranks. He used the second skill, burst (capable of dealing a high amount of damage in a short amount of time), and ultimate skill to target Lady Sun. Immediately, he dropped low on HP (blood). He invoked his Hui Yue so that he was blocked from all damage, and then he struck down Lady Sun.

He then immediately charged at Mai Shiranui with passive flash, used positioning to dodge the fan, targeted Mai Shiranui once again with a passive skill plus ultimate skill. Mai Shiranui position shifted (dash ability), allowing the still half-HP (blood) Zhuang Zhou to release an ultimate skill. But at this same moment, Zhuge Liang used his second position shifting, and Zhuang Zhou’s attack missed. Mai Shiranui was killed once again. Next, Zhuge Liang used his passive skill and immediately wiped out the low HP (blood) Baili Xuan Ce.

Qiao Jing Jing did not even get to see clearly how he did all that. Within a few seconds, the outcome was already determined.

Zhuge Liang got three consecutive kills.

Since entering the battle, he had almost been at low HP (blood) the entire time. At this time, however, he was still chasing after Zhuang Zhou. In the end, Zhuang Zhou did not escape either, and his head was taken and put into Zhuge Liang’s bag.

Quadra kill (killing 4 players on the opposing team).

In KPL competitions, it is not uncommon to go to the extreme to guard the tower. Quadra kills or Pentakills (killing all 5 enemy champions in quick succession in one battle) often happen, but to see such skill from a random, unknown player was still very astonishing.

The commentary’s voice grew louder. “Zhuge Liang took extremes to guard the tower and got a Quadra kill! This rabbit is definitely a king amongst the random, unknown players. The timing to enter the battle and the use of his golden body were managed very well, and his hand speed is extraordinary. I now think he normally just doesn’t even play all the time and work on getting stars. Otherwise, he will definitely not have only 50 stars.”

The live broadcast platform was inundated with 666 (a Chinese homonym for "niú niú niú" or "liù liù liù", used to describe someone is very powerful, cool, impressive).

“Such a legendary player to watch, this Zhuge Liang. Qiao Jing Jing randomly grabbed a person and still got someone so awesome.”

“That series of position shifting he did went by in such a blur. When I go back to look at the replay later, I probably won’t even know how he did it.”

This comeback that slayed the other team let the Good Luck Come team regain control over the rhythm of the game. After taking the big dragon, the team led the minion wave down the lane and pushed forward to the other team’s home.

However, for the time being, they did not find a good opportunity to attack the home.

Qiao Jing Jing was more cautious in her positioning this time, keeping an eye on the other team’s movement at all times. Calmly, she found a safe position and waited in disguise for an opportunity to snipe. She fired three consecutive shots. Two shots hit the squishy (easy-to-kill) Lady Sun and Baili Xuan Ce, and they dropped to low HP (blood). Lady Sun immediately rolled back to the spring water to restore energy (HP and mana – an attribute assigned to characters that indicates their power to use special abilities) but Xuan Ce’s positioning was not very good. Yu Tu flickered (also known as flash which teleports the hero over a short distance) through the wall, used a combo to target Xuan Ce’s, and then used his golden body once more. Xuan Ce was killed. Zhou Yin led the army and broke through the enemy’s home tower. Zhuge Liang, low on HP, made a dashing escape.

The last wave of dragons was about to come, Cai Wenji restored her energy. A battle broke out again.

However, during the second time, Zhuge Liang’s ultimate ability was interrupted by Qi Zhu. Qiao Jing Jing focused on harvesting and followed closely behind the tank and Dharma, continuously kiting (the act of moving while attacking, often to stay within range of an opposing hero while dealing damage). She ended up taking two heads.

Double kill! If she got a triple kill, she’d look even cooler! Qiao Jing Jing was very excited, but still she did not lose her rationality to become just a head hunter. There was minion wave now, so the most important thing for a marksman was to touch the tower. However, she was also now the main target of the enemy team. The moment Baili Xuan Ce was resurrected, he came trying to catch her. While kiting, she added the third skill ultimate combo, and then prepared her ultimate skill to hit Xuan Ce and get three kills.

The commentator was surging with excitement. “Qiao Jing Jing is playing well in this game. The first two shots were the crucial move for breaking through in this game, and then her ultimate skill very accurately hit Xuan Ce. Everyone, did you notice a little detail? She used just normal attack (A) while she adjusted her position, and then she used her ultimate skill! The Pluck Stars team is now left with only a support. We’ll watch to see whether they can still hold their defense.”

In this kind of situation, they definitely were unable to hold their defense. Soon the crystal shattered.

Zhou Yin shouted! They won!
