A+ A- Chapter 15

The Four Stages of a Dragon

Quietly sitting in Xin Yun’s lap, although it was the first time in Yi Luo Xiang’s life that she had ridden a dragon, the odd part was that she did not appear afraid at all.

Raising her head to glance at Xin Yun, Yi Luo Xiang knew that this was because he was at her side. She did not know why, but when she thought of him being at her side, there was nothing she feared. Although he was just a child that was two months older than her, when she was at his side, she felt incomparably safe.

Looking at Yi Luo Xiang’s pensive face, Xin Yun breathed a sigh of relief. The smell of Yi Luo Xiang’s delicate fragrance entered his nose. For a while, Xin Yun was in such a trance that he did not know what year it was.

“Hehe… how is it kid. My pig dragon is very strong, right!” Just as the two were happily sitting together, enjoying the happy situation, A Da’s loud voice one again spoke up.

Hearing A Da’s voice, Xin Yun expressed some doubt. He wanted to laugh… but he was a little too embarrassed to laugh. He wanted to endure… but he could not.

Although it was not that this pig dragon was not a fierce dragon, what other people might not know, Xin Yun was very clear on. A Da’s pig dragon was nothing more than an omnivorous transport pig dragon. It had absolutely no relation to its name. In reality, even using it in a fight was a bit of a stretch. Even when using it for transportation, its endurance and strength were not very good.

Having talked to this degree, there should be a bit of an introduction. This so-called dragon was not some wild animal. It also was not some sort of otherworldly summon. In reality… dragons and people, were originally one entity.

Within every person lay a dormant dragon. In every person, there was a dragon’s soul. The dragon was really just a person’s other form.

The so-called dragon is based on the person’s essence, the soul acts as a medium, and a gemstone was a special existence used to gather the energy of the world. People and dragons were not individual existences. In reality, dragons and humans were one entity.

Based on Xin Yun’s current understanding, there were a total of four stages for a dragon. The first stage was the dragon laying dormant inside the person’s body. It was restricted by the flesh of the human body and would only be able to bring out one one-thousandth of its power. It was also because of this that people like A Da could rely on their physical strength and jump directly on top of a pig dragon over ten meters tall.

The second stage of a dragon was a controlled dragon. At this time, the dragon would be newly born from the body. Its size would be small, and it would be very weak. There would be no way for the master to ride on it. It could only be made use of by controlling it remotely, so it became known as a controlled dragon stage. Once in this stage, the dragon would no longer be restricted by flesh of the human body; therefore, it would be able to use more of its strength. However, because it was lacking in support from the human spirit and soul, it could only use about one percent of its strength.

The third stage was the managed dragon. After attaining this stage, it could barely be considered as being qualified for martial arts. Presently, A Da was at this stage. The person controlled the dragon, while the dragon and human were closely connected. The two pushed each other forward, helping the other; however, the two were still separate entities. Thus, in this stage, the dragon would only be able to use ten percent of its strength.

The fourth stage was integration, where human and dragon became one entity. Regardless of what type of dragon, it would appear in human form. In this stage, the two are properly integrated into one ent

ity. The difference here, however, was the dragon became the main body, while the human body became supplementary. It was the exact opposite of a normal person, thus it could make use of one hundred percent of its power.

For now, Xin Yun only knew of these four stages. As for whether there would be more stages in the future, there was nobody that knew. After all… even among the nine top experts, they were all stuck at the fourth stage.

Speaking of this matter, A Da indeed could be proud, after all… everyone who had reached the third stage could be said to have formally entered the martial world. For now, A Da’s six comrades were all at the controlled dragon stage. A Da alone was different, which was enough to enable him to brag.

While thinking, Xin Yun strongly endured the urge to laugh. Nodding, he said: “Un…. the pig dragon is very fierce. Incredibly fierce… hahaha….” Reaching the latter part of the sentence, Xin Yun could no longer endure and began loudly laughing.

The dragon’s speed was quite fast. Even if it was a pig dragon, this was still the case. After flying for no more than an hour, the pig dragon began to dive. Not far down below, a small village appeared.

As per conventions, landing a large dragon where people gathered was not permitted, thus every village, town or even city had a field for dragons to land. Under A Da’s control, the pig dragon circled one then steadily landed on a not-very-large dragon landing field.

Of course, in this world, there were not many rules. There was nobody with the ability to hold people to the conventions. So long as you had power and were not afraid of being beaten by the people living in the area, you could land directly in the village or town. If you felt the village was not to your liking, you could wipe it out as well.

Laws? This world did have them, but they were kept within the confines of the village or town. But if you were strong enough and want to act rampant, then you could do as you wished. The requirement was that you prepared yourself to be attacked.

Moreover, even if you did not fear the experts of the area and could eliminate everyone, you still had to be careful. Do not look at how inconspicuous a village may be, how in this world does not have friends or relatives. It may very well be be some strong person’s hometown, or it could be the place someone’s loved one is living. Eradicating a small village was easy, but when the strong person completely exterminated your family, you can not blame them.

Causality… that’s right. This was the word Xin Yun was looking for. This world was practically without laws. Even if there were laws, they would have no hold over the strong. So long as one’s strength was enough, and they did not fear causality, they could do as they pleased.

The so-called causality was not as simple as you bully someone, then their relatives come for revenge. Very often, it would be abstract and mysterious.

For example, if one day, you’re not in a good mood, so you curse out a person that bumped into you on the road. This person can not defeat you, so they can only consider themselves unlucky; however, they might not be able to defeat you, but they may be able to defeat others. On their way home, they beat up some kid. That child is very angry and began throwing things at home. THe child then threw some ash out of the window, which then landed on your head, as you passed by. This was cause and effect.

In reality, even if it were one of the nine top experts from before Xin Yun was reborn, they would not casually offend anyone. The results of causality were very often hard to foresee. Nobody knew when or how it would happen. Once the causality had become too great, even the nine top experts could not endure it.

Thus, from many points of view, causality was the only law of this world!

Enter the small town, A Da first invited everyone to a tavern for food and drinks. Seeing a table full of wine and meat, Xin Yun was quite honestly feeling quite hungry. He really wanted to let go and go eat, but as someone formerly from Earth, Xin Yun that in the current situation, he definitely could not do this. Thus, Xin Yun not only prevented himself from eating, he even stopped Yi Luo Xiang.

Watching A Da and his comrades begin stuffing their faces with food, Xin Yun and Yi Luo Xiang began drooling from their cravings, but they could only drink their bowls of congee.

After eating, the group hurried over to an inn. At Yi Luo Xiang’s request, Xin Yun and Yi Luo Xiang stayed in the same room. Xin Yun knew that although they had escaped the well, Yi Luo Xiang had not yet completely calmed down. Perhaps, with him at her side, she would be a little better, but once she was left alone in a room, it was unknown what she would think.

A seven year old child suddenly being placed in an unfamiliar environment after losing all of her loved ones and acquaintances, that sort of fear was impossible to describe. Thus… Xin Yun was the only one she was familiar with at present. Also, he was someone she could fully rely on, so he became Yi Luo Xiang’s last hope. No matter what was said, she refused to let go. If she woke up and Xin Yun were not present, then Yi Luo Xiang’s mind would truly collapse.
