Chapter 121 Assassination

Ranger walked into Phoenix Medical Center as if nothing had happened.

Early in the morning on the day when Ling was rescued by the Phoenix City army, Ranger also entered the city by forged documents. Although the documents were forged, in fact, there was someone named Dolrudov Ranger had registered with. It was just Ranger's another identity.

The white-head eagle would not give up easily, otherwise he would not have stayed in the southwest for five years. The sniping in the wilderness ended in failure, but it did not mean that Ling's life were guaranteed. Regardless of whether it was revenge or Sauron's order, Ranger would not let go of Ling so easily.

However, he also knew that it would be a hundred times harder to kill Ling in Phoenix City than in the wilderness. After all, Ranger couldn't cause too much ruckus in the city, so the best way was to assassinate him.

He lurked in the city for seven days and what he did every day was to go to the hospital to scout in different guises, memorizing the plane structure of the medical center and learning about Ling's situation.

Ling's survival was beyond Ranger's expectation as the bullet he shot at Ling was not a common sniper but an armor-piercing bullet. It could even make a hole in a tank made of composite materials, so Ling was no exception. Even though the shot hadn't hit him in the heart, the adept wouldn't have survived with a hole in his chest. But Ling had survived. It could be said as a miracle, but Ranger hated the miracle.

After confirming that Ling was alive, the assassination plan had to be carried out more quickly.

According to Ranger's observation, Ling was still very weak, judging by the frequent use of life-support drugs and equipment in the hospital. However, after three days, Ling's injuries had started to recover and he would be discharged shortly.

Once Ling was discharged from the hospital, it would be extremely difficult to assassinate an outstanding sniper.

So Ranger decided to take action today. He made a simple but effective plan, and now it was the time to implement it.

Ranger followed a doctor named David, who was a surgeon in the medical center and Ling's attending physician. When Dr. David entered the dressing room, Ranger followed him in taking advantages of the angles and obstacles. No one noticed the whole process, as the speed of the white eagle was really fast.

Dr. David was alone in the dressing room, his eyes a little bloodshot. Nobody who had worked all night without rest would be in better shape than him. Now the doctor just wanted to be off work and get some sleep, but when he put his uniform in his personal locker and closed it, he found a person standing next to himself silently.

"Who are you?" Dr. David exclaimed.

Ranger smiled and said, "You don't need to know."

As he spoke, he slapped at the doctor's neck. The great force of the palm attacked the doctor's artery, suspending its supply of blood. The huge impact immediately made the doctor faint away. Ranger quickly held him up, not letting his fallen body make too much noise. He tied the doctor and gagged him and threw him into a storage room which was big enough, so that no one would notice him in a short period of time even if he woke up.

When he was done, Ranger took out the doctor's uniform, surgical mask, and employee's card, and closed the door lightly behind him.

By the time Ranger came out of the dressing room, he turned into Dr. David.

There was a syringe in the pocket of the doctor's uniform. In the syringe was translucent, pale blue liquid. The liquid was filled with radioactive waste. Even a strong mutated beast would not survive more than 10 minutes if it was injected with this kind of nuclear waste. Ranger didn't think that Ling was stronger than a mutated beast, even though Ling's seemingly weak body contained astonishing vitality.

He wasn't walking fast, and from time to time he scratched his back head. These were Dr. David's habits. Ranger learned these by the three days of observation with his amazing memorization abilities. Covering more than half of his face with the mask, Ranger looked like a real doctor.

The white-head eagle's plan was simple. He would pretend Dr. David to approach Ling so as to create opportunity to inject the nuclear waste into Ling's body. As the plan was simple, very few people could have imagined that Ranger would adopt such a simple and audacious plan. Therefore, it stood a better chance of success.

Most of the time, it doesn't take much planning to kill a person. More often than not, it was due to the environment and factors involved.

"Eh, Doctor, you still haven't left?"

When he reached Ling's room, a nurse came out of the room pushing a ventilator and made a surprising sound when she saw Ranger.

Ranger nodded, recalling Dr. David's tone and speed of speech quickly in his mind. "Yeah, I forgot to give a tube of DH52 to the patient in Room 704," he said. "Well, my dear Angie."

The white-head eagle didn't know the nurse's name, but the employee's card on the nurse's uniform clearly indicated that. As long as one wasn't blind, one could tell. As for dh52, it was a kind of life-saving medicine which Ling had been injected recently. Ranger had clearly figured out about it.

The nurse pushed the ventilator away undoubtedly. Ranger opened the door and the room was quiet. Ling was lying on the bed with his back to him. The little girl who was always with Ling was not in the room either. Overall, this kind of environment was very advantageous for Ranger.

Ranger walked over and he heard the regular breathing in his ears. Even without looking, the white-head eagle could picture the scene of Ling sleeping peacefully in his mind. It seemed that Ling still needed a lot of sleep to speed up his recovery. This was good, and Ling's reaction in sleep will be minimized.

When he approached Ling, Ranger called out in Dr. David's voice. After making sure there was no reaction from Ling, Ranger slowly fished out the syringe containing the nuclear waste from his pocket. He adjusted the needle and pointed it at the artery on Ling's neck. A cold light flashed in Rangers eyes and his hand with the syringe suddenly injected toward Ling.

Ling suddenly moved.

In a very strange way, he shifted ten centimeters so that Ranger's needle sank into the pillow. Ranger's expression changed. He let go of the syringe and swung it towards the back of Ling's neck. At the same time, a sharp scalpel slid out of his sleeve. If it cut into the artery, Ling would die just the same.

Ranger was fast, but Ling was even faster than him.

He leaned on the edge of the bed and bounced up. Following that, his body rotated, lending the rotational force, Ling swept out with a single kick.

Ranger never thought that Ling was not only at gun battle, his combating ability was not ordinary. In a hurry, he could only bend his elbow to block. Ling's toes swept across Ranger's arm, and the force of the second rank strength pushed Ranger back again and again, until he crashed into the wall.

After sweeping out a leg, Ling half-crouched on the bed and sneered, "Doctor David doesn't have such a heavy smell of death like you. If you want to impersonate him, you have to clean up to come back next time."
