Wen He was feeling bored as she rummaged through the rack around her . It was an apartment in the military camp, she could not expect much . Obviously there was no fashion magazine or Girls’ Weekly, only a bunch of magazines passionately detailing the size and shape of different missiles and tanks that literally hypnotized Wen He into slumber .
When she woke up, it was dusk and Huo Chen had not returned . As the ambience raided her into sleep again, she was not bothered . It was until the second morning after lunch, she started to become worried .
Don’t tell me that he regretted the proposal and just ran away?!
Gosh, I shouldn’t have taken that ring . I knew it’s a trap . It’s a trap, right?
“Ma’am!” Song Shou was at the door with news about Huo Chen, “Sir Huo is currently on an important mission . He won’t be back in a few days . He requests you to stay here for the moment . He said he won’t be happy if he did not see you here when he returned . ”
The embarrassingly sweet statement caused Wen He to cough .
“Tell your general to not worry . I won’t go anywhere . Well, is he doing fine at his mission then?”
The question got Song Shou puzzled as he briefly shook his head . Wen He was too preoccupied by her boiling hormones that she did not notice the plight in his eyes . “Well, tell him I’ll see him during dinner . ” And Wen He waltzed to the kitchen leisurely to learn more bread and butter about cooking from the janitor lady .
Time flew as she learned how to get the correct portions for her pork rib soup, dice chicken breasts and slice spring onions . A day without Huo Chen was not that bad but soon she got extremely bored from chopping garlic when there was not even WiFi in the apartment, let alone Netflix .
Five days passed, Huo Chen never showed up .
“This is getting weird . ” Wen He began putting on her thinking cap .
This is really strange . Huo Chen is a general in the military, therefore the commanders would never assign any trivial mission to him . Meanwhile, if he’s assigned to any major operation, he would have told me or—Song Shou would at least tell me what exactly it is . And Song Shou isn’t even with him? Isn’t he his Aide-de-camp?
While she was figuring the issue out, she decided to try fixing the connection as well as the television . Based on her experience as an ex-organization member, the proximity of the signal coverage was too odd—no way the entire building could barely get a bar of signal . She frowned upon the screen saying “No Service” at the top right corner . The television, too . It seemed as if—
“They have been deliberately cut off!” Wen He concluded and strongly felt that Huo Chen purposely trapped her at the apartment . “I’m going out to check him out at the center . ” She marched towards the door and there were two soldiers that obstructed her way out, “Ma’am . Stay back . ”
“…” Wen He saw one of them being the one who took blankets for her before . They were probably Huo Chen’s own men .
Did Huo Chen send his henchmen to keep me up here?

Song Shou hesitated with his lips partly open yet frozen . She swung off the soldiers’ grip, “Nevermind! Don’t have to tell anything . I’ll find it out myself . Get me to Huo Chen now or I’ll beat up every one of you here . ”

“I’m just worried that he just takes everything to himself!”
Wen He gasped, scowling as she spoke, “On the count of 3 . If you do not agree, I can’t promise what I’ll do next . ”

“Alright, alright!” Seeing Wen He about to raise her fist, Song Shou gave in, “Come with me . ” He sighed .

They took a few steps forward but Song Shou stopped quickly as he urged Wen He, “Promise me, ma’am, that you’ll remain calm no matter what you see next . ”
“Alright . ” Wen He said affirmatively .
