Chapter 39.2: Silent Confession

After Li Xinmei left the Array Hall, she headed to the alchemist's courtyard near Heaven Jade Pavilion. She often helped out by delivering herbs and was a familiar face here, so she wasn't barred entry.

When she walked in, Liu Feizhou had just failed at a batch and was walking out unhappily. When he saw Li Xinmei, Liu Feizhou's brows furrowed and he scoffed. "What are you doing here? The old woman's causing trouble again?"

He was thinking that the old woman had probably sent Li Xinmei here so that he could take a look at her condition before they left just in case she needed more pills, so he took out a pill bottle and tossed it to her. "Here, take it and go. Stop hovering around in front of me."

After saying that, Liu Feizhou headed towards the medicinal field. However, after taking a few steps, he found that Li Xinmei was still standing there and got a little annoyed. "What are you still standing there for? You're in the way."

These two people always seemed to glow. In contrast, Liu Feizhou felt that he was like the silt at the bottom of the river. His entire body through to his heart was black. However, he couldn't allow himself to be kind and soft-hearted, so he also couldn't like them and found them displeasing to look at.

Li Xinmei just pressed her lips together silently. Her figure was very frail, but she was breathtakingly beautiful. Her features were like a carefully polished ink painting. At this moment, even as she just stood there silently, the slight flush on her snow-white cheeks looked like white jade dyed by dawn.

When Li Xinmei saw that Liu Feizhou was about to leave, she finally said, "Master Liu, I'm here to say goodbye."

Liu Feizhou froze. He was silent for a moment, but when he spoke, it was still very unpleasant sounding. "The cultivation world doesn't suit you guys, so hurry and scram."

"En." Li Xinmei didn't argue back and slowly took out the dagger she always kept on her. Following that, she walked quickly in front of him and said, "Master Liu, I want to give you this dagger."

Liu Feizhou glanced at the dagger, then disdain appeared on his face. Li Xinmei hastily said, "This dagger is a family heirloom, it's really good quality."

After she said this, she looked around, then decided on using the pavement. She let go of the dagger and the very ordinary looking dagger was inserted straight into the slab of stone. It was clear that it was extremely sharp.

"It can cut spirit stones too," added Li Xinmei. She looked up at him. "Thank you for your life-saving grace these past years."

Li Xinmei was also someone that had a sharp tongue but a soft heart, so she felt that Liu Feizhou was the same. Although he was always mocking them, he also helped them several times.

So she felt that Master Liu was actually a very warm-hearted person.

Liu Feizhou scoffed. "The person that saved you wasn't me, it was that damned old lady."

"So I'll be going with Grannie to the mortal world. I'll look after her for an entire lifetime." Li Xinmei smiled. In that instant, snow seemed to melt and flowers seemed to bloom. Even Liu Feizhou was captivated for a moment.

She handed the dagger to Liu Feizhou, and Liu Feizhou, in his stunned amazement, reflexively took the dagger. By the time he came back to his senses, the dagger was already in his hand.

"Master Liu, if someone that recognizes this mark appears in the future, can you hand this dagger to him?" Li Xinmei pointed at the clan emblem at the shaft of the dagger as she asked this solemnly.

"You sure are good at calculating. You're about to leave, but you still want me to do something for you? Since this dagger is capable of cutting spirit stone, it's definitely a treasure. Aren't you worried that I'll take it for myself and refuse to hand it over even if such a person shows up?"

Li Xinmei didn't reply and just smiled. She could no longer search for her brother, and this dagger was useless in the mortal world. Although she didn't want to give it up, she also hoped that this dagger would be able to protect the person she wanted to protect.

"Thank you, Master Liu." After saying this, Li Xinmei left. Liu Feizhou couldn't help but feel that the dagger was scalding his hand. "Hey, I haven't even agreed!"

However, Li Xinmei left like the wind. Liu Feizhou turned the dagger around and examined it as he muttered, "What an ugly dagger? Who the heck made this? It'd lower my status to even use it." Even though he said that, he stored the dagger in his storage artifact along with his other precious artifacts.

Su Tingyun couldn't bear to leave the orchid tongue grass behind after all and decided to bring it with her. She was currently trying to move it from the pond into a large jar.

As she was digging it up, the orchid tongue grass started talking again. She didn't know where it got this conversation from, but it was happily broadcasting it for her.

"Master, even without those things, I can still enter the Nascent Soul Stage."

"The Wuliang Sect is currently in peril, and this master's life is nearing an end. There's not many days left."

"But…"

"There's no but. You're planning to send Wei Yun away? Didn't I already tell you before I went into seclusion to bring her here and guarantee her safety? Didn't I tell you that she must stay in Wuliang Sect? I won't hold it against you this time since it's the first time you've done something wrong, but if there's a second time, there will be a severe punishment."

Su Tingyun froze. She felt a chill move up her legs and into all her limbs until her heart was shivering from the cold.

It wasn't hard to guess who the people talking this time were.

Back then Spiritual Master Lingwu had already said that it was his master that told him to bring Wei Yun to Wuliang Sect. Su Tingyun had been confused about this the entire time because she couldn't understand why such a strong elder would pay attention to someone as insignificant as Wei Yun. However, the supreme elder had been in seclusion the entire time and as a behind the scene boss, had never shown himself. With time, Su Tingyun started lowering her guard. However, this supreme elder had appeared right when she was about to leave this struggle-filled world and seemed to be hiding a shocking motive.

What did Wei Yun possess that the supreme elder would actually want?

Su Tingyun's legs went limp and her eyelids kept twitching non stop. Although she didn't hear the crucial points, she had a bad premonition. Her intuition told her that what they needed may be related to her life.

Originally, Su Tingyun was bending over and digging at the soil. However, now, she didn't even have the strength to stand up and had to lean against the orchid tongue grass to remain standing.

"Grannie, what's wrong? Why are you sweating so much?" The moment Li Xinmei returned, she saw that Grannie was leaning against the orchid tongue grass in the pond and her pallor was very pale.

She hastily helped Su Tingyun to the side so she could sit down. "Grannie, what's wrong? Do you want some water?"

Lol, this is pretty late, but when I first finally got this site going, I was going to give a warning to Celestial fans not to use the $1 pledge to read ahead, because it ends on an awful cliffhanger. I… forgot.
