Chapter 182.1 - Deep sisterly feelings

“Master?” Lan Bai found this strange.

Why were they going to see this little beggar’s little sister?

Lou Qingwu gave her a comforting look before jumping off the carriage.

Lan Bai quickly followed.

Lou Qingwu told the driver to stop there and followed the child leisurely.

They went all the way to the end of the alleyway before winding through a few more turns.

They kept going until Lan Bai couldn’t even remember how to get out.

Finally, they reached a dilapidated old pavilion as the little beggar enthusiastically jumped to push open the rusted iron gate.

The gate creaked as it opened, making Lan Bai’s ears shiver.

She turned to her master, carefully asking, “Master, this wouldn’t be a trap would it?”

Lou Qingwu smiled but didn’t answer.

She followed the little beggar first and Lan Bai followed her.

When they went inside, the iron gate snapped closed behind them.

Lan Bai’s head whipped backwards quickly.

She saw a few guards wearing dark, standing guard.

Her eyes narrowed before looking at the main hall in front of them.

A tall man with his back facing them was standing there.

When he heard movement, he turned around.

His dark brocade gown made his handsome face cold.

It was the second prince, Xiahou Rui.

Lan Bai froze before pulling at Lou Qingwu’s sleeve, “Master, how could it be the second prince? Did you know from the beginning?”

Otherwise, how could her master follow the little beggar so easily.

“En. The child told me.”

“Oh? Miss Lou, please say. How did the child tell you?” XIahou Rui walked out from the hall as his eyes grew cold.

They had an extra something that Lou Qingwu couldn’t find.

The Xiahou Rui that had lost that little something, made him more steady and more like a real king.

“The child was in tattered clothes but on his waist, hung a piece of black jade. If I had seen correctly, that piece of black jade is from Yonghe 8th year, a birthday gift from the empress dowager.”

Xiahou Rui’s eyes moved strangely before his dark eyes grew calm again, impossibly deep.

“Miss Lou is indeed clever.”

“I don’t know why the second prince has called us out here? Is there something we need to talk about?” Lou Qingwu smiled, not caring for his comment.

She quickly changed the topic to today’s aim.

“I don’t believe that Miss Lou can’t guess my aim today.” Xiahou Rui’s eyes finally gentled.

The thing in his eyes that she couldn’t read, finally disappeared.

“Oh? Then the second prince should know something.”

“That thing, did you do it? I need to know … the real answer.” Xiahou Rui’s eyes grew deep.

Lou Qingwu pursed her lips, thinking for a moment before nodding her head. “I did do it.”

“Is it real?”

“Half real, half fake. The second prince just has to know that she isn’t dead.”

Xiahou Rui’s thin lips lightly pursed together before after a long time, sighed, “I can’t see though you at all.”

If she was so heartless to reject him, why did she have to keep helping him?

He didn’t like Shangguan Yiyun and didn’t want to marry her so he waited until the very end.

When he got to the very end, he finally had come to accept her arrangement.

But now, at the very last moment, she had taken away Shangguan Yiyun?

“I said, I would help you. Of course, I won’t make you leave with any regrets. After Shangguan Yiyun’s fake death, you can tell the world that you won’t marry for three years after Miss Shangguan’s death. This way, you’ll gain a reputation for being virtuous and valiant. And I believe in three years, it’ll be enough for you to gain what you want. As for the person who will stand by your side in the future, you’ll have to choose them yourself, second prince.”
