Once she was let go, Lan Bai slapped his face.
But Feng Shiyi was alert and grabbed her wrist, “Hey, woman, really!”
“Shameless!” She angrily wiped her mouth with her hand as Lan Bai glared at him.

Lan Bai’s face was red with anger as she silently crawled into the carriage behind them.
“Shameless? I’m shameless?” Feng Shiyi looked at Lan Bai like she was crazy before angrily gritting his teeth.
He then leapt up on his horse and grabbed the reins, gripping them as he steered them towards the Lou residence.
His face regained its usual stoic and alert expression.
When Feng Yege sat inside the carriage, he sat to the side of Lou Qingwu.
Lou Qingwu looked pointedly at the seats next to her as she raised a brow but didn’t say anything.
She lifted up a curtain to feel a cool breeze on her face as she let out a small breath.
The gloominess that had been pent up inside her during her time at the palace, finally was released.
The carriage wheels rolled over the limestone tiles, the sound echoing in the silence of the night.
Lou Qingwu let down the curtain.
She turned to look at Feng Yege, borrowing the feeble light inside the carriage.
But when she met his eyes, a part in her heart softened as her lips parted, ready to say something.
But she smelt a slight scent of something mixed with the scent of blood as her brows furrowed, “You’re injured?”
“En?” Feng Yege froze, clearly not expecting that Lou Qingwu ask that.
But he only froze for a second before he laughed brightly, “How could that be? If I was injured, I would’ve told you a while ago.”
He blinked at her, his phoenix eyes suggestive as he looked at her gently.
Lou Qingwu thought about how he troubled her with bandaging him when he was injured and then let out a breath of relief.
“Are your injuries healed now?”
“Nearly all healed up. Don’t worry. Your senior brother is a doctor too. I won’t let anything happen to me.”
“Oh? Then who was the person who didn’t want to change their medicine?” Lou Qingwu lightly teased him as she glanced at him.
When she saw the laughter in his eyes, she couldn’t help but smile too.
She was only able to be this relaxed with her senior brother.
“Do you know why the emperor titled you as a countess?”
“No idea.” This was a problem that she was trying to tackle too.
Right now, she didn’t understand the emperor at all.
Qiao Mei had succeeded because she understood the emperor, and adding onto that face of hers, she definitely had a greater chance of becoming a consort.
But the emperor titling her as well, was worth some consideration as it was something that was beyond her expectations.
“Then don’t think too much, think about some happier things.”
“Like?” Lou Qingwu’s eyes curved, smiling.
“What present do you want?”
“En?” Lou Qingwu blinked at him before realising he meant for her coming of age ceremony.
She shook her head, “You being able to come, is enough.”
Just as she felt like too emotion was revealed in her eyes, Lou Qingwu turned away to the side, hiding her eyes from him.
Feng Yege sighed, calmly holding her shoulders with his arm, “Qingwu, no matter what, even if … even if you don’t choose me, I will always stand in a place that you can always see me, accompanying you. This is my promise to you, forever.”
Lou Qingwu’s body stiffened, but didn’t avoid him.
Some part of her heart was touched.
She almost had the impulse to tell him about her past life, she’d held onto it for too long, she was so burdened by it …
