Chapter 3 Battlefield (II)

. . . Can't cultivate? It was just the so-called Qi. No one knew that his brand of warcraft only improved on the battlefield.

Who would have known that, other than the mystics, there were something called killers in this world?

The horrific battle scenes were hard to watch even from far away, but a group of people sitting on a nearby hill didn't seem to react from the sight.

These people were the five mystics from Pingyuan; they had used their magic to lead their army to annihilate the enemy, including their mystics and their inner source—and who were now resting and adjusting their breathing.

As each mystic took deep breaths, clouds of different colors hovered above their heads, showing their different levels. The strongest mystic had a pure golden cloud with a heavy swirl.

Only when a mystic had cultivated his inner source to the ultimate level could they possess a bright and shining gold. Any other mystic would have to show respect and awe.

Other than this top mystic, two other mystics also had gold-hued clouds, but one was a deep gold and one was a pale gold.

They were also at advanced levels, but not quite as advanced as the first mystic.

Of the remaining two mystics, one had a purple cloud, as he had cultivated his inner source for a while; the another one had a black cloud and had just started on the inner source.

Purple and black hues also came in light, deep, and shining levels.

Whether gold, purple, or black, with their sub-levels, each represented years of hard work and use of energy crystals, and the incomparable strength each possessed.

The two mystics of Luosheng had both died at the hands of the most powerful Pingyuan mystic with the shining gold cloud; the other mystics merely observed and didn't actually contribute.

The mystics were busy adjusting their Qi and cultivating. Not far from them were four generals of the Pingyuan Kingdom and its allies.

These generals were not mystics, but they were at six-, seven-, or even eight-leaf warrior levels, and they were all from the same powerful Pingyuan family, the family of Lin.

In fact, in addition to this frontrunner brigade, most of the high-ranking generals of the Pingyuan Kingdom and its allies came from the Lin family.

The four mystics who traveled with the brigade were also invited by Lin Lan himself, with his connections in the mystic world.

It could be said that the Lin family used its strength to control the whole war, with its varied warriors at all levels, and managed to completely overpower the Luosheng Kingdom.

Lin Lanxin was a commander for the brigade; she was also the only woman among them—and a beautiful one at that. She had asked for multiple reinforcements; her group had the highest injury rate, but also the most kills.

Whenever a new warrior was added to her team, nicknamed "the meat grinder," he was always anxious and uncertain, but whenever he saw how stunning their commander was, his mood would shift to elation.

Dying under her command would be exhilarating, even in one's imagination.

Which was how many warriors died—brave without cause, yet full of joy.

Standing behind Lanxin were her three younger brothers.

All four of them also looked toward that young black-haired man, just like the warriors had earlier.

Even from a distance, the man's efficient moves when slicing off enemy ears amazed them, but instead of awe, they showed pity.

The supreme sword skills, the quick moves, the fighting instinct . . . all of them were natural conditions for creating a seven- or eight-leaf warrior.

"What a pity a natural talent like that can't cultivate Qi. He can't even be a four-leaf warrior, much less a mystic." Lanxin shook her head, not realizing how often she had done it before. "Our family could have made another battle-ready mystic out of him, just like our great-grandfather. Too bad."

When she said great-grandfather, she looked toward the mystic with the golden cloud. "He could have gone to a higher realm, but he didn't, just so he could build more legacy for us . . ."

She sighed and continued talking. "When the Luosheng Kingdom is ours, the Lin family should be invincible across all the land."

"Maybe great-grandfather . . . should focus on moving to a higher realm . . ." a baby-faced general said. "The future belongs to us, the Lin family!"

The baby-faced man, with some family resemblance to Lanxin, looked confident and proud. "Sister, don't worry. I, Lanxiong, will become a powerful mystic just like great-grandfather, and make sure no one dares to challenge us."

A small crystal sword was embroidered on the front of his uniform, and the eight-leaf Chinese redbud flower next to it represented his eight-leaf warrior status. The high rank at his young age was quite impressive, so his words weren't that outrageous.

Patting Lanxiong's shoulders, Lanxin smiled. "That's ambitious. We're from the Lin family, so we need big goals."
