Flashback scene to what happened after Cheng Yi left the hospital.
Cheng Yi received the DNA results, he was the father of Zheng Jia Ju’s son. He went to Zheng Jia Ju’s home, he asked her if she was his wife and if she needed money to support their son.
‘I’m taking good care of my son on my own,’ Zheng Jia Ju said.
‘Do you hate me for forgetting you?’ Cheng Yi asked. ‘Forgetting our son, and shooting you?’
‘I don’t hate you,’ Zheng Jia Ju said. ‘You’re free to live your new life.’
‘Why don’t you hate me?’ Cheng Yi asked. ‘Why didn’t you tell me that you’re my wife and Xiao Nian is my son?’
‘It doesn’t matter anymore,’ Zheng Jia Ju said. ‘You didn’t bother to find out about me and my son before you shot me and wanted to kill my son.’
‘Gu Jiao Wu, I’m tired,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Let’s sleep.’
‘If you don’t promise me… I can…’ Gu Jiao Wu whispered in Qiao Tan Yuan’s ear.
‘Gu Jiao Wu, are you crazy?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
Qiao Tan Yuan wondered if Gu Jiao Wu didn’t want to live anymore.
‘What is your one track mind thinking about?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked. ‘I want you to promise me that we’ll get married soon.’
‘You… before you said you want me to promise every day would be like today,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
‘Yes, I did say that,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘If we’re married, wouldn’t we be sleeping together like this every day?’
‘You… you’re shameless,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
‘Am I wrong?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked. ‘Where else would I be sleeping except next to you after we’re married?’
Gu Jiao Wu thought Qiao Tan Yuan’s pink cheeks were enticing.
‘Gu Jiao Wu…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
Qiao Tan Yuan knew Gu Jiao Wu wouldn’t sleep if she was next to him in bed. She rolled over, her back faced him and she yawned.
‘I want to sleep,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I’m going to ignore you.’
‘You’re going to ignore me?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
‘Yes, I’m going to ignore you,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I’m tired. I want to sleep.’
Gu Jiao Wu put a hand on Qiao Tan Yuan’s shoulder.
‘Don’t touch me,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. She pushed Gu Jiao Wu’s hand off her shoulder. ‘I want to sleep.’
‘Ah… it hurts,’ Gu Jiao Wu feigned.
Qiao Tan Yuan rolled over, and looked at Gu Jiao Wu’s chest.
‘Are you OK?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
‘You hit me,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘It hurts.’
‘I…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
Qiao Tan Yuan only remembered she pushed Gu Jiao Wu’s hand away, she didn’t remember hitting him.
‘Do you want me to call a doctor?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
Qiao Tan Yuan jumped off the bed to put clothes on, but Gu Jiao Wu pulled her back on the bed.
‘You… you pranked me,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
‘I’m not that weak,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I only wanted to give you a little scare.’
‘You… you’re horrible,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
Qiao Tan Yuan was scared she had hit Gu Jiao Wu by accident.
‘This is payback,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Do you remember on the island, how much you scared me when I thought you were drowning?’
‘You… you didn’t have to scare me like this,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
‘I wanted to remind you that I have a good memory,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘You promised to marry me so you can’t run away.’
‘I won’t run away,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. She rubbed her face on Gu Jiao Wu’s neck. ‘If I run then how can I be with you?’
‘Um,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. He patted Qiao Tan Yuan’s back. He was happy he received her promise. ‘Let’s sleep.’
Qiao Tan Yuan closed her eyes.
‘Tan Yuan, you need to work on your stamina,’ Gu Jiao Wu whispered in Qiao Tan Yuan’s ear.
Qiao Tan Yuan opened her eyes, and closed her eyes again because she didn’t want to see Gu Jiao Wu’s smug grin. She didn’t think she had poor stamina, it was Gu Jiao Wu’s fault for having such a strong stamina.
In the morning, Gu Jiao Wu woke up refreshed, because he was fed last night after Qiao Tan Yuan starved him for a long time. She was curled up against his arm like an adorable kitten, it awoken his morning glory. He rolled on his side, and kissed her lips. She opened her eyes, blinked and smiled at him.
‘Morning,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
‘Morning,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.
Gu Jiao Wu caressed Qiao Tan Yuan’s shoulder, and kissed her lips. She looked over his shoulder, and noticed sunlight was shining through the window.
‘Gu Jiao Wu…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
Qiao Tan Yuan got out of bed and dressed.
‘It’s no time to play,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘The stitches are coming off today.’
‘It’s too early in the morning,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘You don’t have to worry since the doctor won’t come here until much later.’
Qiao Tan Yuan ignored Gu Jiao Wu, and she walked into the bathroom. She brushed and washed her face at the sink. Then she turned around, Gu Jiao Wu appeared out of nowhere and he closed the bathroom door.
