In the living room, at first there were only three people surrounded the small fish and studying it, and now there were four of them. Vivian just joined them. After hearing about the little guy's origins, she gaped and asked, "Is this just hatched?"
"She did it." Hao Ren pointed to the innocent Lily, who was squatting on the sofa and scratching her face with foot. He then lifted his arm to indicate that he is being entangled by the little fish and said, "This little fish has completely taken me as her mother, somebody help me."
Vivian curiously reached over to touch the tail of the little mermaid. The little mermaid was getting bolder. It did not dodge. But when Vivian tried to get the little mermaid out of Hao Ren's arms, the little mermaid resisted fiercely. It flapped its tails violently and hit the vampire's hand without hesitation and frightened Vivian.
"It has been like this since just now." Hao Ren said and pulled the corner of his mouth helplessly. "At the beginning, it was still willing to swim in the basin for a while. But after it was tired, it came to me and rest on my arm. You see, it completely won't let go."
The little mermaid slightly curled its tail and sit in Hao Ren's arm, and stared at the strange people around it with inquisitive eyes. She is a very adaptable cub and can feel the changes in the atmosphere around it. It was unusually nervous when she first came to a strange environment or met a stranger. But as long as there is no danger in a short time, the little mermaid becomes bolder. Now it was completely unafraid of people and things around. It was just looking around in amazement, wondering why other people did not have long tails.
The little one stayed quiet for a while, but when Hao Ren tried to figure out what to do to get her back into the basin again, she suddenly jumped away and then hopping and flipping on the coffee table, and began to emit a cry that was sharper and messier than before.
"What's wrong?" Hao Ren was suddenly confused. He stepped forward trying to calm the little mermaid down, but that just made her fiercer. Lily and others were startled and hurriedly came forward to help. But nobody had any experience of taking care of a little kid. Suddenly the living room was in chaos. The little mermaid was getting more excited when it saw the scene. She was shouting even louder to reflect its appeal. Nangong Wuyue thought that probably this little one is dehydrated too long and feeling uncomfortable, so she made a small water ball trying to wet the mermaid. Later, she forcedly threw the little mermaid into the basin. However, it did not work and she was almost bitten. Lily was making faces and scratching the little mermaid's tail, trying to make it happy, but she scared the little mermaid instead. Finally, Vivian thought of something and asked, "Is it hungry?"
And it reminded everyone that the newborn cub was very easy to feel hungry. However, Hao Ren and the other three half-baked guardians looked at each other for quite some time and realized that the problem. "... What do mermaids eat?"
"Don't look at me." Nangong Wuyue waved her hand and explained, "I am a siren, but also a hybrid siren. I drank milk when I was little."
Lily asked without thinking, as always, "Do you have any milk then?"
Everybody, "..."
"Go and take everything in the fridge, and whatever snacks you guys have. Let's try one by one." Being the ace guardian in the house, Hao Ren was standing on the sofa and giving command. "And take anything edible if you have. Probably the mermaid from the different world would want to eat something we have. Lily, put your molar stick back, do you think such a tiny little thing can bite that?"
Everybody went back to their own rooms to find food. Hao Ren remembered that he had half a box of cookies in his room and ran back to get it. The little mermaid was probably really hungry at the moment. It was busy messing around on the coffee table and no longer pestered Hao Ren. Seeing Hao Ren run away, she seems to understand that he is going to find food for her. She just stared at him and watched him walking away but did not jump up and follow him.
Hao Ren rushed back to his room and found the half a box of cookies on the desk that he left there two days before. However, when he ran back to the living room, he saw a scene that almost stopped his heart: a black and white cat was on the coffee table, curiously sniffing the little mermaid, and the little mermaid was ignorantly using its toothpick-like hand to poke the cat's nose!
Hao Ren yelled loudly, "Rollie!" He had not been shouting so loudly for a long time.
Hao Ren swore that, since the cat thought it was called "Rollie", he had not shouted this word so loudly for a long time.
When "Rollie" heard this shout, it immediately let go of the fish which had already reached its mouth, and excitedly ran to Hao Ren and rub his feet. It thought that when its owner called it using such a loud sound, the dinner was ready.
Hao Ren saw the fish baby prop up and moving the tail to greet him, he was relieved and throw two pieces of biscuits to the cat. He then put the cookie box on the coffee table, pointed to the little mermaid and introduced it to 'rollie'. "Listen, this is our new tenant, you are strictly forbidden to eat her!!"
As mentioned before, 'rollie' is a spiritual cat. And over the years it has become familiar with Hao Ren's 'work' and even understand what 'tenant' means. So usually, when Hao Ren introduces new tenant to it, it will know that there will be a newcomer to share its kingdom in this big house. But this time it just looked blank. The cat looked foolishly at the weird fish on the coffee table as if its understanding of life was massively impacted. It froze for quite some time and still did not understand why the master decided to take a fish as a new tenant.
And more importantly, it was not allowed to eat the fish.
"Anyway, you just remember that you can't eat the fish." Hao Ren really did not know how to explain this to a cat. He did not know if his order worked for a cat. He can only repeatedly stressed it, "If you dare to eat her, I will throw you to the Bean Bun at the back street."
'Bean Bun' was a dog in the back street, plump and sturdy like Bean Bun. Before Lily came to this street, it was the dog king of the entire southern suburbs and the only enemy who the lawless 'Rollie' was truly afraid of. Although now Bean Bun has relegated to the second tier and become a local separatist in the dog kingdom of the southern suburb (new dog king was Lily), it was still powerful. Everyone with four legs is afraid of it when it walked on the street. When Hao Ren said this, 'Rollie' finally accepted it. It bowed its head and mumbled, licked its paws and pretended it did not know anything. It was a euphemistic way for 'You are the Boss'.
Probably the clever readers had discovered that there is a counteractive relationship between Lily, Rollie, and Bean Bun: Lily was scared of Rollie, Bean Bun was scared of Lily, and Rollie was scared of Bean Bun. It seems to be a sad story to anyone.
At this time, Lily and the rest of them also come out from their rooms with a variety of snacks. Just now, three of them have heard Hao Ren shouted, now when they see 'Rollie' in the living room, they can certainly guess what happened. Vivian gulped and said, "Phew, we almost forget that there's a cat at home!"
"Be more careful next time, this is too dangerous." Hao Ren was still in a state of shock. He looked at Nangong Wuyue and asked, "When will the mermaid grow up? It's not gonna be just like this forever, is it?"
"How many times do I have to say, I am a siren! And I'm viviparous!" Nangong Wuyue could not take it anymore. "It's even more reliable to bring Hans Christian Andersen back from death and asked him than asking me!"
A variety of food quickly placed in front of the little mermaid. There were all kinds of food. Hao Ren's half box biscuit was the most plain. Nangong Wuyue had squid strips, dried squid, salted fish and other seafood. Although Vivian was poor, she now lived a worry-free life with Hao Ren's help. She took out some of her handmade snacks. The snacks Lily took out were the most delicious: Prawn strips, crispy candied fritter, spicy strips, shrimp crackers, popcorn, and even a pack of kibbles...
"Aha... Just want to try." Lily embarrassedly kept the kibbles and explained, "but it really tastes good."
Everybody put the snacks in front of the little mermaid. It was immediately dazzled by this big pile of colorful packaging bags and small dishes. She looked at these mysterious things that smelled weird with astonishment. It did not expect that they will bring her so many things after she made some noise. However, as Hao Ren worried, the little mermaid from the different world did not seem to eat the conventional human food of...
The little mermaid grabbed the cookies, bite it and spit it out. She then grabbed the spicy bar, smelled it and threw it away in fear. Then, she held the chocolate bean and looked at it for quite some time and think that this is not edible. At last, when everyone was about to give up, the little mermaid finally found something it was interested in: she came to a plate of tiny snacks prepared by Vivian, sniffed and flapped her tail happily. And then…
It ate the chopsticks happily.
