Chapter 122: 122
Outside the Barton Police Station, the officers in uniforms hurried past a certain big man, not paying much attention to the normal-looking, harmless civilian .
Benjamin opened the door of the police station and looked inside . James was not at home, even though Zach said, “Since he is not here, let’s go to church first” Benjamin still drove the truck here .
“Hey!” The policewoman who was not very tall saw Benjamin . She stood behind the counter, waved to Benjamin who was looking forward, and smiled, “You are here again!”
Benjamin looked at the policewoman, remembered who she was, smiled and waved, and walked to her, “Hello, we met again . Is Rance here?”
“He is here, wait a minute, I’ll call him . ” The policewoman smiled, turned around, and went inside .
The police station was ‘lively’ and much more crowded than last time Benjamin was here . Before long, James followed the policewoman and appeared before them . His shirt was wrinkled, and there was a black green bruise on his left eye obviously caused by a punch . Seeing Benjamin, he frowned .
“Thank you . ” Benjamin thanked the policewoman first and then gestured to James to talk outside .
“You are welcome . ” The policewoman’s face was full of smiles, it didn’t fit the police station’s serious environment at all .
Benjamin turned around and prepared to leave, “Wait, I’m Emma, what’s your name? SS”
“Officer Emma . ” Benjamin bowed slightly with a smile, “My name is Benjamin . ”
“Emma Farrell . ” The policewoman smiled and waved, “Just call me Emma . ”
Benjamin smiled, “Thanks again, Emma . I need to…” Benjamin gestured, pointing to James who had already walked to the door .
“Oh . Go ahead and see you next if we have a chance!” The officer named Emma waved embarrassedly .
Benjamin nodded and left the police station with James .
“Why are you telling her your name!” James seems to be in a bad mood .
Benjamin shrugged, as if he was not concerned, “What’s the matter with your eyes? Have you been beaten?”
“That’s none of your business . ” James said coldly, “Why are you looking for me?”
Benjamin raised his eyebrows . “Zach has something that he wants to say to you . ” He pointed to the truck that was parked in front of him, and Zach leaned against the truck and waved to them in the sun .
James’ face became more sullen . He knew that the vampire would become sluggish in the sun . It was four o’clock in the afternoon, and a few days later would be midsummer; the sun was blazing at the moment . However, the vampire was still able to move freely . What was the reason? James didn’t want to think about it .
“Let’s take a short walk . ” Zach joined the two with a smile, and the three walked around the Barton Police Station aimlessly .
Zach looked in the direction of the police station, and every officer was in a hurry, “Your work seems to be very busy . ”
James glared at Zach . The bruise on his left eye was more obvious in the sun, and his eyelids were drooping weakly . Obviously, the person who hit him didn’t do it lightly, “Why are you here? Tell me now . I still need to go back to work!”

“No, it’s not funny . ” Zach wasn’t able to pull James away, frowning tighter, “I’m telling you the truth . Do you want to know the truth, or are you arguing with me here?”
“Are you fuking playing with me? !” James pushed Zach away from and glared at the vampire, “The truth? ! Fuck your truth! I shouldn’t have listened to any shit coming out of your mouth! !”
James turned around, stopped looking at the two of them, and walked to the police station, leaving the two standing in frowning .
“Uh-” Zach looked at James’s back, “That went well . ” The vampire was being sarcastic .
Benjamin patted Zach on the shoulder . “Perhaps there is really something wrong with Quest . ” The werewolf was trying to comfort him .

Zach shook his head, thinking for a moment . Leaving Benjamin, he went straight to the person that was gradually walking away from him .
James felt that a hand was pressed against his lower back, and something cold and sharp was pressed against his spine .
“I can ignore your insulting remarks . ” Zach leaned against James, and the whisper of the vampire passed into James’ ears when his pupils suddenly constricted, “Now, you are going to a place with us . ”
Benjamin shook his head and started walking in the direction of the truck .
“What are you doing!” James lowered his voice, his eyes glanced sideways toward the vampire, and the tinge of bright red in the vampire’s pupils made him shudder .
“I said, I want to tell you the truth . ” Zach exerted strength into his hand that was pressed on James’s back, forcibly turning around, “Now I have changed my mind, it’s better to show it to you directly . Do you want to go by yourself, or should I break the agreement and use the hypnotizing eyes on you?”
James Rance ‘voluntarily’ sat in the back seat of the truck and stared sullenly at the two people in front .
“James . ” Zach pulled the seat belt, his tone was cold, “I almost understand the conflict between us . ”
James didn’t answer, watching sullenly as the scenery outside the car window moved; the truck drove away from the police station .
“Anthony’s cooperation with us began with a thorough understanding of both sides . ” Zach glanced sideways at the back seat and listened to James’ suppressed breathing, “We have enough knowledge of each other’s world . Together, we know a complete world . This is the basis on which we can trust each other . ”
Benjamin didn’t fiddle with his radio this time, only Zach’s voice and the buzzing of the engine were in the car .
“But to you, you are too far behind . You have too little knowledge of the nonhuman world . I try to help you understand and let you see the real world . ” Zach turned his head and looked ahead, his tone became emphatic, “I tried, and now, I can say that ‘I failed’ . It was a huge failure . ”
“Failure? !” James seemed unable to stay silent anymore, “Yes! You failed! I will never be guided by you again! For your benefit…”
“Our benefit?” Zach shook his head . “Then tell me James, what good would it do Grande to destroy Quest?”

James was speechless for a moment .
“I don’t care what kind of secret you have found out about Quest . Maybe he really has some evil intentions . This is your job . You can judge for yourself . But I still come here to tell you the truth, James, tell me, why do I have to go through all this trouble? To play with you?” Zach snorted and shook his head .

The look in James’ eyes was constantly changing, which reflected a complicated state of mind .
“Well, James, let’s start again . ” Zach turned his head, “We can leave the cooperation aside and start from introducing you to our world . Oh no, my bad, we live in the same world . Let’s start with a complete understanding of this world and make sure that we understand each other . ”
