Killing Adein was the only thing that was left on my mind. And this time it was not just our of a personal vendetta, but because it was required for us to move forward. There was no version of this, where he survives, and we all get to ride off into the sunset happy as pie. And more or less, I knew what was coming next. After he dies, we will be opening a proverbial can of worms, a war that I'm not so sure we were ready to fight, but it was a war we needed none the less.
The green district was crowded and filled to the brim, it was understandable though, this was not a fight between vampires; but a fight between a human and a vampire. A fight that had real consequences and would affect every square inch of the pit, without a doubt, everyone felt the need to be here. So right now I was not just looking at vampires, I was looking at elves, werewolves, dwarves, humans, gnomes, members of the Serpentis species and so many more. Every living being from the blue district, all the way to the white district, except for Baeki who couldn't come because she was trapped, were here. This was going to be a show for the ages.
I walked towards the battling platform with Soren right beside me in his Lion form, Asha was sitting on him, and right behind her was Xaseah. There was nothing to it, a man could walk, but his ladies must be treated like the queens they were. Besides I've come to learn and understand, that in all things related to power, appearances were important; impressions some times decided the outcome of a battle even before it starts.
Not everyone from the city were here, but all of my generals we're. Asare, Kuyait and Magellan looked fierce in their black and gold uniforms, they were striking in appearance and commanded attention upon all who looked at them. The pregnant Asha was also under a lot of scrutiny, as by now everyone knew that an elder was pregnant and having twins. To very rare occurrences happening in one body, and Xaseah looked fierce as always. The Envoys were all armored, giving off an intimidating air, but those of them who really knew the envoys would know that this was not the whole of them. Heck! Revan and Neva were not even here, and they were my top lieutenants, a scheme was abound, but I doubted anyone could smell it. Not with the image we presented.
Compared to everybody else, I was a little subdued in my looks. I was bare bodied, and only had hooded cloak on. On my chest, the soul rune [HEAL] was branded and left exposed for the entire world to see. I was even bare foot, and only had my guns hanging off both sides of my thigh, while my sword and shield were nothing more than black bands around my wrist. Before this fight, Malek had made an upgrade to their polymorphic properties, giving them the ability to expand and contract way past their normal range. If I wanted I could turn my shield in a giant wall, or a room, and still retain the same level of thickness and defense.
I didn't have to wait long before Adein was pushed towards the platform on a wheel chair. To be honest seeing him like this shocked me until I remembered I had placed a weave on him. I totally forgot about it, and had still gone ahead to challenge him. If I had remembered, I would have just gone ahead and attacked rather than challenge him to a fight. I felt stupid, how could I have forgotten something this important, I mean j know I've been so busy and had my mind swarmed with one commitment after another, but who would forget he had already dealt a preemptive strike against the biggest enemy within his immediate vicinity? I think I gave stupidity and negligence a whole new meaning.

"Well Adein you seem to have seen better days. What happened? Did someone break you?" I asked as he came closer.
"As a matter of fact, you did. Now I'm going to ask nicely, whatever it is you did to me, reverse it." He said to me with a smile.
"And why will I do that? You think I'm stupid. I'll rather just kill you and be done with this." I replied to him nonchalantly.
"In the spirit of fairness, aren't you nobles supposed to fight all your enemies on equal ground, as a means to protect your honor or something?" He said to me as the corner of his lips and eye lids twitched fiercely.
"First of all, Adein. Do I look like a normal noble to you? I'm a fucking vampire dumbass, what works for me as a human is a whole lot more different for me as a vampire. Besides, you're not worthy of honor, even in your death." I answered him as I took a step forward.
"Are you sure you don't want to reconsider, you might regret it." He said to me with a nasty grin.
The tone he used this time raised warning signs in my mind as I began to feel suspicious. It would be too much of a rookie mistake to think that Adein did not have a plot of his won cooking somewhere. This fight was way to important to the both of us, and because of that, it's going to be as crooked as possible, and filled with numerous potholes that would deter both our momentum. But by now, without any prior knowledge of what he has planned, I could do nothing but move forward and roll with punches.
"I've come to far to regret wiping you off the face of the earth Adein. If there's consequences to be had for killing you, I welcome it wholeheartedly." I said to him with a resolve in my conviction.
"Well then, that's a pretty speech. You've made your bed Kael Cor, and you're going to lie on it. But before we start, I have a gift for you."
After he finished speaking a bundle was thrown from within the crowd of guards that followed him. Soon enough it was followed by a couple of others, I didn't look at what was thrown, but focused my attention on Adein, and that was until I heard Kodak's broken whisper.
"No….."
I looked down, and there was decapitated head at my feet. And on it was a face that was all to familiar to me. Someone who has shared in my tough times and hard times. It was Kodak and Gus's mother Varsessa. And it was not just her head that was on the ground, but also different parts of her body, all ripped apart and mangled. Everyone around me was familiar with the handwork of werewolf, she was shown absolutely no mercy.
I couldn't turn around, I couldn't. Gus and Kodak were right behind me, and at my feet was the mangled and torn apart body of their mother. The only parent they had left after their father was killed in much the same way. Adein was a monster, but he was not done yet. Three guards came forward, and ripped in their hands, were the crying forms of Nivae and Lynn; Gus and Kodak's sisters. And with them was also someone all too familiar, it was Nisi.
"What do you want?"
I asked Adein in a subdued tone, barely above a whisper. To any body here, without a doubt, he had me beat, he had me broken. He had won.
"Oh how the mighty have fallen! YOU THOUGHT YOU CAN DEFEAT ME....HUNH! SHUT UP! I WON, I ALREADY WON, I SAID SHUT UP!"
I had no idea who he was talking to, but I couldn't react in time as Adein abruptly got up from his wheel chair and swung his whip behind him towards his guards. The guards hastily scattered, but the one guard who the whip was heading towards, was also the person who was holding Nisi. I was a vampire, I could teleport, but I couldn't get there in time. It was almost as if I could see everything happening in slow motion as that whip flew towards the guard, who chose to use Nisi as a shield rather than run away. There was a flash of silver and I was there, I was there, I swear I got there in time. I held her, but her eyes were closed, her body was cold, cold like the earth.
Then her skin began to crack, turning into tiny flakes as the broke down, and turned to dust. Dust that was blown with the wind, gone, just as if she never existed in the first place. She was in my arms just now, and then nothing! Nothing. I could vaguely see Asare grab Nivae and Lynn, burning quite a number of guards to ash in the process. But did I care, what just happened, how could they be gone.
ARGHHHHHHHHHH, ARGHHHHHHHHH!
Adein screams drew me out of my stupor, and I turned to him, eyes blazing and my fangs throbbing out of my gums with a ferocity that it has never experienced before. All I had left of Nisi was a residue of dust in my hand, dust that lurched tightly as the black band around my right wrist moved like liquid to reform into my sword. I looked at the mad Adein, who was crazily swinging his whip around like a mad man, he had lost it. There was murder in my eyes, but I was not the only one looking at him like that, the bloodlust and rage in my eyes, were shared by three others. Adein was trapped in a circle, and his executioners were me, Teluna, and the heart broken brothers Kodak and Gus. We wanted blood.
