This was how Lu Li felt. He almost burst into laughter, seeing how the two were staring at each other like fighting cocks. He kept the laughter to himself, though, and acted as serious as ever.
Jiang Wuwo quaked with rage. He was the master of the Pavilion of Delicacy, the Family Patriarch of the Jiang Family. If it were somebody else smashing a cup in front of him, he would have burst into rage, but not to this tough young lady here.
Scolding her? Slapping her? Grounding her?
None of these worked on Jiang Qiling, who might even commit suicide. What could Jiang Wuwo do? No father knew how to deal properly with a kid like this.
Jiang Wuwo took a few deep breaths. He knew that the stalemate must come to an end, or his authority of being the Family Patriarch would be flushed down the drain. In that case, Lu Li, the outsider, might laugh at him.
He waved his hand and said, "I don't want to argue with you today. I have a lot on my plate. You can go now. See them out."
Older guys were wiser.
Lu Li sighed. Jiang Wuwo knew clearly that Jiang Qiling wouldn't come without a reason, especially when she took Lu Li with her. Needless to say, she had something to ask of Jiang Wuwo.
Jiang Wuwo chose to retreat in order to advance, forcing Jiang Qiling to admit her mistake.
Lu Li noticed Jiang Qiling was still angry but didn't know what to answer. He cupped his hands and said with a smile, "Uncle Jiang, how are you? I have a business deal to discuss with you."
"Not interested!"
Jiang Wuwo turned around. Picking up a cup of tea the maid just provided, he said, "Don't' call me uncle. Your father and I fought for decades and he had always been looking down on me. I don't deserve to be your uncle. Talk to our patriarchs about your businesses. I am busy."
Lu Li threw Jiang Qiling a begging look. Her anger was reignited. The Xuan Energy on her hand glared and so did a nine-layered Fate Wheel. She wanted to tear down the hall now.
"Again?"
Jiang Wuwo halted his action. Ashamed into anger, he said, "Go ahead, I dare you. I will ground you for 100 years, believe me. Try me!"
"Ha, ha!"
A glint of coldness arose in her eyes. She threw Jiang Wuwo a glance as if he was nothing but a stranger. She lowered her qi and energy, put away her Fate Wheel and took Lu Li's hands and left. "Lu Li, I am sorry that this blew. Let's go back to the Northern Desert. This place has no human touch. I don't want to come back here ever again," said she coldly.
Without giving Jiang Wuwo another look, she dragged Lu Li out with no hesitation.
Jiang Wuwo was hurt by her actions. A flash of killing intent appeared in his eyes. He threw Lu Li a look, which gave Lu Li goose bumps.
"Stop there!"
Right when Jiang Qiling was about to step out of the door, Jiang Wuwo sighed and said with his eyes closed, "Jiang Qiling, you go. Lu Li, stay here!"
Lu Li stopped Jiang Qiling. He didn't want her to have a falling out with the Jiang Family over his matters. He gave her a begging look so she left with anger after hesitating for a bit.
Lu Li walked back in. Without waiting for Jiang Wuwo to talk to him, Lu Li sat down, picked up a cup of tea and said, "Master, your way of disciplining your daughter is wrong. It will get worse like this. Jiang Qiling is a poor kid but she is rebellious. The more you push, the more she is going to reject…"
"Shut up!"
Jiang Wuwo said coldly, "Are you trying to teach me a lesson? Get out if you dare to say more."
Lu Li touched his nose embarrassingly. He took out five rings from his Interspatial Ring, put them on the desk in front of Jiang Wuwo and said, "Master, those are the Mystical Materials that I got from a small world. I hope we can make a deal and I can get the Mystical Materials I need. Well… those are just a small fraction of what I have. I hope you can keep it confidential… or I will be in loads of troubles."
Jiang Wuwo picked up one of the rings and forced his psychic power in. His glares were sharp even though he didn't show any emotional changes.
He took out the other one fast after he scanned the first one. Having done that, he sent Lu Li sharp looks without saying anything.
After a while of pondering, he asked, "You got those from some alien races, didn't you? Or did you rob them? Or maybe you are working for them?"
"Impressive!"
Lu Li said words of admiration to himself. He didn't let any information of the Deserted World out and the scouts of the Pavilion of Delicacy couldn't have gone in there. Yet, from the simple words of Lu Li and some other information he had collected daily, Jiang Wuwo had pieced together the truth. It was not luck that made him the Family Patriarch of the Jiang Family.
Lu Li stood up, cupped his fists and said, "There are some alien races involved but they are all working for me now. I can swear on my life. I am not working for them. Those are all mine."
"Working for you?"
Jiang Wuwo said scornfully, "Lu Li, you are a bold guy. Do you know about the blood feud between humans and the alien races? If the word gets out that you have the guts to take the alien races in as your men, not even your grandpa will be able to save you if he can wake up."
"Um…"
The gravity of the matter had exceed Lu Li's expectation. Also, how impressive the intelligence system of the Pavilion of Delicacy was! It was a secret that his grandpa was in a coma. It was surprising that the Pavilion of Delicacy could know this.
Lu Li said with a frown, "There are many alien races and even the small families at the Northern Desert have some alien race slaves. This is nothing unusual. I don't believe that there are no alien races at the Central Plains. Isn't there a Yaksha Race among the 12 Royal Families?"
"What do you know?"
Jiang Wuwo scolded him ruthlessly and added, "The Yaksha Race is among the earliest that defeated humans. We do need to solicit some alien races, which is why we allow the Yaksha Race to exist. It is only a matter of time before the Yaksha Race is exterminated. Lu Li, you don't understand alien races because you didn't grow up in the Lu Family. Those alien races are not people. Essentially, they are just Xuan Beasts."
Detecting the doubt in Lu Li's eyes, Jiang Wuwo stood up, paced up and down in the room with his hands clasped behind his back and explained, "Actually, humans came into existence way before the alien races did. But in the distant ancient times, humans were physically weak and alien races were born to have strong bodies. They had talents and horrifying Bloodlines. Back then, humans were miserable. Humans were the slaves of the 10,000 races and humans would get raided, prosecuted, and even eaten by the alien races. They hunted humans for fun. "
There was a trace of pain in Jiang Wuwo's face as he continued, "Back then, humans were just like livestock. Humans didn't have any ability to fight back and were at the mercy of alien races. They killed and abused and robbed humans. That was the darkest period of time in the history of humans. All the alien races massacred humans in cold blood until a proud gift bestowed by heaven appeared. He created a skill, which is Bloodline Awakening."
"Humans began to develop slowly after having Bloodlines and to have abilities to protect themselves. But still, there was a huge gap between humans and the alien races in their abilities. The only advantage on the human side was the reproduction rate. However…half of humans' offspring would be killed by the alien races and even eaten.
