Today, Li Peng looked exceptionally handsome. His usual steady and calm face had a sense of excitement, probably because it was his wedding day.
“Ah, the groom is here! Sisters, block them quickly. Our Sis Fei’er is so pretty, how could we allow her to be snatched away so easily?”
A hubbub of laughter and shouts erupted from the bridesmaids as the group of young and beautiful girls blocked the men from entering. Li Peng and his groomsmen had to beg for mercy helplessly.
Su Wan stood beside Lin Fei’er and saw that they were having a good time.
After three rounds of questions and answers, Li Peng finally broke through the bridesmaids’ challenge. He walked toward Lin Fei’er with a face bright with joy and knelt down on one knee in front of her like the knight in fairy tales.
“Fei’er, will you marry me?”
“Y…Yes!”
Watching Li Peng kneeling and proposing marriage, Lin Fei’er was both happy and nervous and almost stammered.
Lin Fei’er blushed and her cheeks were crimson as if she had applied blusher. Seeing her gentle nod, Li Peng slipped the platinum diamond ring gently and carefully onto her left ring finger.
“Ah, today is such a good day. The groom must kiss the bride!”
Someone suggested this and all the groomsmen and bridesmaid went into an uproar. Lin Fei’er had always been a carefree girl but today was special and she looked like a bashful little wife.
Li Peng stood up nimbly and under the applause of the audience, he firmly held on to Lin Fei’er.
Li Peng cupped Lin Fei’er’s beautiful face and lowered his head to touch her red lips. Then, he kissed her deeply.
Watching them immersed in their kiss, the audience, including Su Wan, could feel the love and affection between them.
She had secretly been worried about Li Peng but when she saw this scene, she let out a sigh of relief and at the same time felt happy for her best friend.
After a while, their lips parted. Some onlookers were not satisfied and some whistled as they laughed. “Kiss longer! We haven’t seen enough!”
Su Wan laughed. The groomsmen today were all Li Peng’s relatives and good friends. She had not expected Li Peng, who had always been mature and steady, to fall into the hands of his relatives and friends.
Lin Fei’er, who had always been bold and open, was currently hiding her face in Li Peng’s embrace, as if she was so shy she dared not see anyone. Instead, Li Peng magnanimously tilted her face up and sealed her lips once more.
This time round, their kiss lasted for one minute and the people around them started clapping.
Mr. and Mrs. Lin, who were standing aside, saw the scene and both had tears in their eyes. They had mixed feeling watching their daughter getting married. However, they were relieved to see their daughter marrying a good man.
Li Peng let go of Lin Fei’er slowly. Their gazes met and they smiled. Lin Fei’er recalled every bit of their love journey and her tears couldn’t help dripping. It was the greatest happiness of her life to be able to marry this man.
Li Peng was excited and he had tears in his eyes too. However, he was a man and he held on to his tears. He took out a handkerchief to wipe off Lin Fei’er’s tears from the corners of her eyes.
Su Wan sighed with relief when she saw the loving couple.
Everything which followed went on smoothly. Li Peng and Lin Fei’er held hands and walked down the stairs together. When they walked up to the wedding car, Li Peng carried his bride into the wedding car.
Su Wan sat in one of the cars in the convoy, trailing behind the wedding car.
Today’s weather was good. The sun emitted golden rays and the breeze brought along the fragrance of the flowers. Everything was beautiful, as if witnessing today’s wedding.
The convoy went around S City and finally arrived at their destination, Golden City Hotel. Li Peng’s parents were standing and waiting at the hotel entrance.
After they entered the hotel lobby, Li Peng and Lin Fei’er went through the traditional Chinese wedding ceremony of kneeling and bowing to their parents and the four elderlies gave them each a red packet.
After that, they still had some time before the wedding lunch started. According to the culture in S City, there should be two wedding parties comprising of a wedding lunch for the relatives of the bride and groom and a wedding dinner for the friends and colleagues of the bride and groom.
Because not all the guests had arrived, Lin Fei’er tugged Su Wan to a room at the back to touch up her makeup which had been messed up after she cried.
Although Li Peng was not in the room at the moment, Lin Fei’er’s face was still filled with nervousness and bashfulness. Her palms were even wet with a thin layer of sweat.
Su Wan understood her best friend the most. While she tidied her wedding veil, she consoled her. “What’s there to be afraid of? Haven’t you been looking forward to this for a long time?”
Lin Fei’er closed her eyes for the makeup artist to touch up her makeup. When she heard what Su Wan said, she slowly calmed down.
Su Wan thought to herself that Lin Fei’er was completely different from the usual tough woman she was. She silently thought how powerful love was. Then, she took a goose down jewelry box out from her handbag.
“See if you like it?”
Lin Fei’er opened her eyes and saw a pair of sparkly diamond earrings. She was stunned and immediately declined. “You bought me this wedding gown. I can’t let you spend anymore.”
Su Wan smiled and shook her head. “I did not give you a cash gift today. If you don’t accept these, it means that you look down upon me.”
Just as Lin Fei’er was about to decline, Su Wan took off her pearl earrings and put on the dazzling diamond earrings.
Su Wan praised with a heartfelt admiration. “Look, this pair of earrings suit you perfectly!”
Lin Fei’er darted her a glance helplessly. She didn’t know what to say. This pair of earrings and the wedding gown she was wearing were such huge gifts from Su Wan.
Wait till it was Su Wan’s wedding day, she would definitely give her a substantial red packet. Although Lin Fei’er knew Su Wan didn’t lack money, she should not be the only receiving party in this friendship.
Lin Fei’er thought of the trustworthy good friend of hers and instantly, her nose felt a sensation. She had so much to tell Su Wan but when all the words reached her mouth, only two came out. “Thank you!”
Su Wan didn’t want Lin Fei’er to cry, so she quickly said, “Today is your wedding day. You must look good. Don’t cry anymore, alright?”
Lin Fei’er sniffed and nodded. Just when she was about to say something, Li Peng walked in. His vision fell on Lin Fei’er and he said, “Darling, many of our guests have arrived. Let’s go out to greet them.”
Lin Fei’er answered obediently. She looked at Su Wan then followed Li Peng out.
To Su Wan, she had now become an idler because among the invited guests, besides the bride and the groom, she only knew Lin Fei’er’s parents. Since, there was still half an hour before the wedding lunch started, she walked about leisurely.
Su Wan walked downstairs and looked around at the busy flow of people in the hotel lobby. Joy arose in her heart.
Suddenly, she saw a short-haired girl wearing a white dress from a distance away. She looked inexplicably familiar.
