Chapter 34 – Beast God Martial Artist

Lika’s wrist no longer felt like it was his, his eyes not leaving Zou Liang’s by even a hair’s breadth. But Zou Liang relaxedly let the event go as though it had never happened, as though he was unaware of the concept of nervousness.

Zou Liang’s face finally let loose a smile full of brilliance; this was the most interesting opponent that he had met in the Beast Spirit World and could serve as an amusing toy.

Zou Liang was finally going to go on the offensive.

He took three steps: normal footwork, neither fast nor slow. But Lika’s expression immediately changed; these steps were aimed to suppress his adaptation.

Lika moved and Zou Liang followed, each step exerting pressure on the opponent’s rhythm. Zou Liang had seen through his opponent from the previous exchange; he’d already become accustomed to Lika’s attacking rhythm and trajectory.

Because the Shadow Hunter occupation had no defence and was always putting their lives on the line when attacking, they had to have the greatest understanding of the situation. This was what Lika’s master had told him ever since he was young.

Even though he was only seventeen years old, he had already braved through ten years of training and didn’t wish to disgrace his master before achieving fame. He had always thought that his talent was very good and that he was more hard-working than anyone, and the Beast Spirit World had also proven this point; Lika from Fuluolun Sasi had made a name for himself and was walking towards the goal of becoming the strongest Shadow Hunter.

He had believed he had no equal in terms of technique.

But today he had encountered his strongest, fiercest opponent; the smile he had shown when breaking his wrist had been incomparably cold.

Lika still had one hand; he had not lost yet. To Shadow Hunters, their left and right hands had to be equally proficient, and furthermore he also estimated that he had grasped the movements of his opponent.

Yet the opponent moved in such a way, exerting such heavy pressure; it was almost as if he was fighting a completely different person.

Lika was correct: Zou Liang was excited. Every time in large gaming tournaments, if he met a competent opponent it would be as if he was possessed by a devil. In those years, he could be devoid of everything but could not be without his fighting game. Even if it was an illusion instead of reality, he was just as addicted.

But in this world, the illusion had merged with reality. All he needed was a competent opponent.

Suppression!

Only the Shadow Hunter understood that his tempo had been suppressed.

Lika had already forgotten his pain. His eyes were like knives and he unceasingly changed his tempo and angle, but the opponent slowly advanced step by step, causing drop after drop of sweat to fall from Lika’s forehead. The day he graduated, his master had told him that even though his Beast Spirit needed tempering, there would be no one in the same generation who could suppress his tempo.

Yet this person had appeared.

This suppression was dream-like as the two slowly drew closer. Lika began to move faster and faster, but Zou Liang was like a devil, thoroughly blocking him. Lika knew that under this kind of tempo, as long as Zou Liang went on the offensive, there would be no path left except for death.

A Shadow Hunter that had his movements figured out was like a lost sheep.

Break away! Break away! Break away!

Lika could not forfeit his fighting spirit; as soon as he relaxed, it would be his end. At this moment he swayed wildly, constantly moving his core balance

: a high degree Shadow Hunter technique —— Bewitching Fox Illusory Steps. This technique wasn’t worthwhile when attacking, but it would often make warriors lose direction due to dizziness.

No one understood why Lika executed this on the unmoving Zou Liang. Even stranger, his sweat dripped left and right; saying that he looked as though he were in a sauna would not be an exaggeration.

On the other hand, Zou Liang only relaxedly took a few steps, but even this pressured Lika extremely heavily; Zou Liang had finally entered within the two-meter range.

Attack!

Lika’s inner heart cried out, yet Lika’s hand with the blessed dagger could no longer pierce out.

“You’re a genius. You have the Shadow Hunter’s most important sense of smell: the smell of a crisis. One day, you will stand atop all of the occupations.”

His master had smiled at him. Lika knew that his master was very qualified and countless people wished to be his disciple, yet he had picked him. His Beast Spirit was not powerful and he was a member of the fox tribe, but his master had chosen him.

“Master, is there an existence that exceeds the five main occupations?”

Lika had once asked after arduous training. In this world, he believed that Shadow Hunters were the strongest, the only invincible existence.

The master smiled and responded, “It is rumored that in the past there was an occupation that could kill anyone without using weapons. Their hands, their feet, even their teeth and gaze were their weapons, and they would use them to send their enemies to their deaths. This occupation was called the Beast God Martial Artist and the people were upheld as Asura. An Asura only had a sole successor and they could utilise all sorts of techniques to send their enemies to their deaths; if one was to say there was an occupation superior to the Shadow Hunter, it would be the Beast God Martial Artist.”

“Oh, Master, are there none left anymore?”

“These people only appear once a millennium; thus, it is only a rumor,” his master merrily replied.

Lika initiated his attack but his passions were missing from the strike. If he deployed the Bewitching Fox Illusory Steps and attacked, others would think it would be difficult to defend against; any occupation would have to defend themselves against this kind of attack, and without a shield they could only await death. But Lika did not have the feeling that victory was close.

He thrust towards the chest, but when he came to his senses, the dagger had unknowingly already been stabbed into his own chest.

This was the first time he experienced the taste of defeat in the Beast Spirit World. Suffering infiltrated his soul, but—to a warrior tempered with time—death was not so scary. Suffering could be overcome, and even the lost Beast Spirit was not on Lika’s mind.

The rumored person of one every millennium had appeared!

Before Lika died, he uttered four words —— Beast God Martial Artist.

Tong pu……

Andongni-Lika had died!

Zou Liang silently stood up and felt a surge of Beast Spirit enter his body. He loved this kind of fight; when the knife touched his body it would bring him great excitement, and sometimes he even wished to try out how it felt were it to enter his body.

Insane?

Perhaps. He loved this crazy world more and more!

Zou Liang gazed over the arena, looking over the crowd as he waited for the next challenger to quell his excitement 1.

But all of the warriors just looked at the Shadow Hunter laid out on the ground. They had all witnessed this extraordinary fight with their own eyes and could feel the unwillingness of being stabbed through by their own dagger. The Shadow Hunters were wild and specialized in killing, and the only reason they fell at the hands of others was because of their weak defences, but…… no one could kill a Shadow Hunter with their own weapon. Shadow Hunters were the most dangerous among all of the occupations to fight against.

Yet this person had achieved this without an inch of steel. In an illusory manner, he had killed a Shadow Hunter who had received the Beast God’s blessing.

No one had ever done this before!
