“WHY?!” Peng Zige began to get louder.
His voice once again attracted the attention of the students around him.
Li Erqin chose the simplest reason, something that would be easy to accept. “Because I do not have any experience as an emcee.”
Peng Zige’s lips trembled, but he could not find the right words to comfort her.
As for Su Zi, she pouted with displeasure. “Then, when they came looking for you, why didn’t they get all their facts right to begin with?”
Li Erqin smiled at her. It was too complicated, and she was disinclined to reply.
After she’d finished smiling, she looked towards Rong Si again.
Rong Si kept looking at her indifferently. When he met her eyes, he took out a lollipop from his pocket and gave it to her. It was Li Erqin’s favourite *flavor. Then he smiled at her. “They’re the ones who are lacking in foresight.”

Everyone was shocked by Rong Si’s words.
If these words had come out of anyone else’s mouth, such as Peng Zige’s, for example, it would have been viewed as a joke, or as an arrogant remark.
In the hearts of the teachers and classmates, however, Rong Si seemed to exist as the ideal benchmark.
He was so perfect that he had no flaws.
He was “that other family’s son” whom every parent referenced a thousand times – excellent grades, excellent manners and an unpretentious personality.
He was so perfect that there weren’t any distinguishing features about him.
Just as Li Erqin had said in the past, Rong Si was naturally emotionally deficient, and this gave the impression that he had a rather invisible presence.
It was as if the essence of what makes humans human was not there, and when you factored in his natural reticence, the little humanity he did exhibit faded even further.
But just now, his tone was airy and light as he uttered that one simple statement.
Li Erqin felt slightly baffled, and her mouth parted slightly; she did not know what to say.
“It’s just as well that you’re so busy,” Rong Si continued. “You don’t have the time to concern yourself with these matters anyway.”
Li Erqin was even more confused.
Am I that busy?
“You have to take care of Broadcasting Club matters and rehearse with me for the Spring Festival. At the same time, midterms are looming ahead, and you can’t let your Physics grade drop.”
She really was a little busy…
Rong Si had just about finished what he had to say and concluded, “Let them foolishly go about their own business.”
“All right.”
Just then, the bell for evening remedial classes rang. All of the students returned to their own seats, one after another, as they began to do their homework.

Li Erqin held her pen as she began to write and take notes on some *scratch paper. Her heart, however, could not calm down. She had never had someone force a label upon her that did not belong to her in the first place, and she was not even given any opportunities to explain herself.

She tried hard to examine the subject topics in front of her and finish the questions, but she could not process any of the words. An unfamiliar moodiness *charged violently inside her body. She tried to take a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm herself down.
*(T/N : 横冲直撞 hengchongzhizhuang – an idiom to describe the sense of pushing and shoving, bashing and colliding head on)
She failed.
In the quiet remedial class, a cool female voice suddenly emerged. “Teacher.”
The teacher-on-duty raised his head in surprise. “What’s the matter?”
“I’m not feeling well and would like to return to the hostel to rest.”
The teacher-on-duty put down his pen. “Where are you feeling unwell? Do you want to go to the hospital?”
Li Erqin shook her head. “It’s my heart that feels unwell.”
Teacher-on-duty: “…”
“Teacher.” Another voice joined in, clear and fresh and pleasant to the ear. “Something happened with Li Erqin. May I go speak with her?”
The teacher-on-duty was a bit confused, but because of his confidence and trust in Rong Si, he agreed. “Go on then. Don’t disturb the others who are studying.”
“Thank you teacher.”
When Rong Si left his seat, he glanced at Li Erqin. Li Erqin lowered her head and slowly followed. With one in front and one behind, they walked to the broadcasting studio without any communication between them whatsoever.
When she passed the Testing floor, Li Erqin subconsciously lifted her head to look. The classroom where she was supposed to have had her meeting with Ruan Mingxian was well lit. She could not help but try to guess what was happening inside and what they might be discussing.
Her heart became increasingly downcast.
Then, her lowered head suddenly bumped into something.
She rubbed the sore spot as she looked up, and her heart simultaneously cursed. [Why do I always bump into Rong Si? And what’s with his physique? Why is it so firm, without even an ounce of fat??]
“You…” Rong Si wanted to say more but then hesitated*. “You should concentrate on where you’re walking.”
*(T/N:欲言又止 yuyanyouzhi – to want to say something but then hesitate)
Li Erqin was rendered speechless.
Rong Si looked at her expression and sighed, “Follow me.”

She suspiciously followed, realizing that Rong Si was not walking towards the broadcasting studio.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“The rooftop.”
“We’re going to the rooftop now?” she asked incredulously.
If they were to go to the rooftop now… wouldn’t they freeze to death?
“Yep, are you afraid of the cold?”
Li Erqin shook her head.
Rong Si laughed and did not expose her (lie).
Sure enough, the rooftop was extremely cold. The wind screamed as it raged past. Li Erqin did not understand why the wind on the top of the building was so strong. She was practically about to be blown away.
Furthermore, it was really very cold.
When Rong Si turned and saw Li Erqin shaking behind him, he was unable to restrain a smile. He took her around a corner and walked to a nook that had shelter from the wind.
Li Erqin caught her breath. Finally, it wasn’t that cold.
She sat down a few steps away from Rong Si.
Rong Si glanced at her and said, “Come over here.”

“……” (Li Erqin)
“Are you not cold?”
“I’m cold.” She finally honestly admitted it. Her body couldn’t help but get closer to him as she tightly looped her arm through Rong Si’s.
“Why did you choose to come here?” she asked.
(Minodayz: so we can be together and you’ll have to lean on me….whaddaya think LEQ!!! >6<)
“So you can snivel* conveniently.” (*snivel is usually used humorously)
Li Erqin was startled.
“Anyone can pass by the broadcasting studio, but no one will come here.” Rong Si observed their surroundings. The wind was slipping in from all around. It sure was cold!
He continued, “So if there’s anything you want to let out, you don’t have to worry. Just vent and let it all out.”
“But …” Li Erqin’s lower jaw kept shaking uncontrollably. “I’m a little cold… I can’t really speak properly.”
Rong Si did not know whether to laugh or cry.
“How about we change locations?”
Li Erqin shook her head. “It’s alright. This place is actually quite nice.”
Once again silence prevailed.
Li Erqin was aware that Rong Si was waiting for her to speak.
Minodayz : RS – I am soooooo glad you’ve step up to your role! Love the kick under the table! PZG – you just so NOT clued in! But quick to react too! SZ – darling, you’re a true friend! I love it when the foursome get together, but I love it more when RS and LEQ get time together. They ooze cuteness!!! I was almost thinking RS wanted the cold rooftop for LEQ to snuggle closer ;P
