Chapter 21—Mother, You Must Get Revenge!
“Oh?” Mo Qingli said . She released the young man . Then, turning around to face the jade-robed woman, she crinkled her eyes into a faint smile . “Why don’t you see for yourself if I have any strength or not . ”
“You’re seeking death!” The jade-robed woman once again launched a palm towards Mo Qingli . Mo Qingli looked back at the young man, afraid that he would be caught in the cross-fire, and leapt to the side to provoke the jade-robed woman to follow her .
This time Mo Qingli did not try and avoid the jade-robed woman’s attack . Instead, she waited for her opponent to near her, then reached out her own palms in turn .
Two hands met against each other . A spark of golden light flashed against a spark of green light .
Finally, the green light dimmed . The jade-robed woman was forced back .
She slowly took a few unsteady steps backwards . Her face was full of astonishment as she looked at Mo Qingli . “You… you’re also…”
Mo Qingli did not give the jade-robed woman any more time to speak . From her hand, she shot out a dazzling ray of golden light . The jade-robed woman tried to dodge, but found to her terror that her body seemed to be locked in place, unable to move .
Although the golden light was small, there was an immense amount of power packed into it .
The jade-robed woman could only stand in place, watching the golden light approach closer and closer .
With a loud “boom“, the golden light smashed into the jade-robed woman . Afterwards, there was an explosion of dust and light .
As the golden light began to fade, and the dust began to settle, there was no sign of the jade-robed woman .
The young man watched the scene with fear . That exceedingly powerful woman… had been eviscerated just like that? He looked at Mo Qingli with a newfound terror, retreating back two steps .
Had she killed her?
That move she had just performed did not require much much of her spiritual energy . Before, this kind of attack could be performed with a flick of a finger . Now, however…
Mo Qingli’s entire face was white . She slowly staggered to where the jade-robed woman had stood, then crouched down, picking up a small blue-green snake . “Since the path to cultivation is not easy, I’ve decided to spare your life . From now on, you must go about a new path, and focus solely on cultivation . ”
The young man had no idea that snake demons existed . What startled him even more was the fact that the blue-green snake spoke human words . “Yes, yes, this demon will focus on cultivation from now on, and not involve myself in human matters!”
Mo Qingli released the snake . As soon as it hit the ground, the snake slithered away immediately from the two people’s sight .
“She, she, she…” The young man pointed towards the blue-green snake, then pointed at Mo Qingli . He didn’t seem capable of full speech . “You, you, you…”
Mo Qingli unhappily glanced at the young man . “What bullcrap are you spitting out?”
If it wasn’t for him, why else would she need to expend so much spiritual energy? Mo Qingli sat on the ground, exhausted . She would need some time to recuperate .
The young man walked closer, then sat next to Mo Qingli . Suddenly, his tone turned excited . “Are you an expert demon hunter?”
Mo Qingli ignored him . Instead, she focused on slowly breathing in and out . This movement would help her regain the strength she needed to bring the young man back to the city .
“No, that’s not right . If you were an expert demon hunter, you wouldn’t have spared that demon . ”
The young man clearly saw Mo Qingli ignoring him, but continued jabbering on . “Who would have thought that lady really was a demon? It’s a good thing I didn’t spend the night with her . Or else…” the young man tightened his grip on his robes . “What a terrifying thought . ”
Mo Qingli: …
“Actually, when I jumped out that window, I really was expecting to die . Who would have thought you were faster than me? Thanks for rescuing me . ”

That sweet thing came up again . This time, Mo Qingli was unable to endure it . She spat out a mouthful of blood onto the ground .
Seeing this, Liu Niansui was scared to death . He produced a handkerchief from a pocket, wiping Mo Qingli’s mouth . “Are you okay? Why didn’t you tell me you were hurt? How did you get this injured? Were you harmed by that monster’s attack earlier? Aiya, you’ve even spat out blood! When I get back to the capital, I’ll find a doctor for you!”
He grabbed Mo Qingli, heaving her with difficulty into a bridal carry . One hand held the back Mo Qingli’s neck, while the other grabbed her waist, supporting her weight . Throughout this process, Liu Niansui felt himself faintly blushing .
Mo Qingli knew that she would never be able to fully recuperate this way . However, she still let Liu Niansui carry her . She could always heal once they returned back to her residence, after all .
“If I carry you like this, is it alright? Do you feel better? Can you still walk? Why don’t I piggyback you? Although maybe I won’t have the strength to piggyback you . I can try, though, what do you think? Aiya, why is your face turning more and more white? By the heavens, there’s more blood coming out of your mouth! Are your injuries heavy? Don’t worry, we’ll get to the city soon! Just endure for a little more…” Liu Niansui chattered on and on as he slowly carried Mo Qingli back .
Mo Qingli looked at him disdainfully, then fainted .

Seeing Mo Qingli’s unconscious state, Liu Niansui panicked and picked up his pace .
“Don’t move!”
Suddenly, an angry bellow came from ahead . Liu Niansui stopped in his tracks, turning his head .
…only to see a pair of jade robes, this time owned by a woman that looked even more demonic than the first .
“It’s them! Mother, you must get revenge! Wu, wuuuuu~”
Liu Niansui now saw inside this demonic-looking woman’s sleeve was a little blue-green snake .

Liu Niansui didn’t know where he got the bravery from . However, he gently set Mo Qingli onto the ground . Afterwards, he advanced a step, looking at the snake . “You promised earlier that you would cultivate and not cause anymore trouble in the human world! It hasn’t even been that long, and yet you’ve reneged on your agreement!”
The blue-green snake slithered upright, hissing at Liu Niansui . “You’re just an ordinary human . How dare you butt into this conversation! Anyway, your so-called protector is now unconscious on the ground . No one can save you now!”
The snake flew out of the woman’s sleeves, charging at Liu Niansui .
Suddenly, Liu Niansui thought of an old saying his father used to tell him . If you see a snake, strike at their vital point about seven inches from the head .
Seeing the blue-green snake quickly approaching him, fangs visible, and furthermore dripping with poison, Liu Niansui quickly thought of a plan . He pulled out the jade hairpin from his hair, then, waiting for the snake to get even closer, struck down with the hairpin roughly seven inches from the snake’s head .
“Ah—” The blue-green snake emitted a loud howl . Liu Niansui pulled out the jade hairpin . Afterwards, the small blue-green snake twitched once or twice, then ceased moving .

“My daughter!” By the time that demonic-looking woman had crossed over, the small snake’s body had already turned cold .
Seeing the demonic-looking woman’s anguished sobs over the small snake’s corpse, Liu Niansui suppressed his guilt and thought to himself that this small snake was a demon . Then, if this demonic-looking woman in front of him was its mother, than… she was also a demon .
Nervously swallowing, Liu Niansui quietly retreated . Quickly, he heaved Mo Qingli’s body over his back . Taking advantage of the demon’s distracted state, he prepared to make a run for it .

Hearing the bellow of rage behind him, Liu Niansui’s heart trembled with fear . However, he didn’t stop running . One moment of hesitation could mean certain death .
With a loud bang, Liu Niansui crashed into somebody . However, without stopping to apologize, he continued to run on .
“Where do you think you’re going?” the person howled again . Liu Niansui realized with a sinking feeling that the person he had just crashed into… was that demon .
Knowing that the situation wasn’t good, Liu Niansui turned to run the other direction . However, he found himself restrained by a long, jade-colored tail .
It was a good thing that Liu Niansui found himself feeling rather courageous in this moment . Instead of fainting, he quickly grabbed the hairpin off of Mo Qingli’s head and jabbed it into the tail .
The woman cried out in pain, flinging the two of them onto the floor . Liu Niansui cried out in pain . However, at the same moment, Mo Qingli also woke up .
Seeing that Mo Qingli was awake, Liu Niansui felt extremely happy . “You’re finally awake!”
“This… what happened?” Mo Qingli looked at the dust-covered Liu Niansui, then looked around to catch a glimpse of the enraged lamilike creature in front of them .
“This demon was that previous demon’s mother . After that small demon left, it went to find its mother to get revenge . Who knew that I would accidentally kill it? Now this demon’s enraged, and wants to kill us both to get revenge!”
