Chapter 13
Chapter 13—You Will Regret This!

Ran Ge glared at Mu Tianlang. Mu Tianlang stared back, unwilling to show weakness, as if he had forgotten that he was currently naked and vulnerable.

“Mu Tianlang,” Mo Qingli called out coldly. Mu Tianlang’s eyes immediately grew big, his azure blue pupils reflecting infinite specks of light, looking extremely innocent.

Mo Qingli held onto her forehead, then turned to look at the prostrating Ran Ge and Yue Yao. “Why don’t you two first wait outside the door, then.”

“Yes!”

Having received amnesty, Yue Yao and Ran Ge lowered their heads and dashed outside. As soon as they were outside of the hall, the two exchanged looks and smiled. They felt like they had been reborn into new people—they had not thought escaping death would be this easy, nor had they imagined the Princess to be this magnomious.

“Why did you protect that woman?” Mu Tianlang demanded, as soon as Yue Yao and Ran Ge had left.

Of course Mo Qingli could not admit that she was grateful Ran Ge had interrupted them. Instead, she backed away from him. Indifferently, she said, “It wasn’t purposeful on her part. Now hurry and—wear—some clothes!”

Mu Tianlang pushed the blankets off of him and stood up. “Don’t want to.”

Mo Qingli’s eyes widened. She had been in close relations with him for the past few days, but it wasn’t until she looked at him now did she realize that his figure was extremely well-built!

Mu Tianlang stepped forward. A moment, he accidentally fell forward and hit his head against the top of the bed frame. As he grabbed his head in pain, he stumbled forward again, tangling himself with the sheets. Another misstep and he had rolled off the bed, bringing the blankets down with him.

TN: Ancient Chinese beds looked like this, with a bed canopy on the top.

“Hahaha… hahahaha…” Mo Qingli grabbed her stomach, unable to stop her laughter. Aiya, this stupid wolf really knew how to make her laugh!

Mu Tianlang crawled up from the floor, resentfully throwing the blankets back onto the bed. Hearing Mo Qingli’s laughter, his face flushed into a deep red shade. This time he had really lost too much face.

He stamped his feet, pointing at the bed canopy. Menacingly, he threatened, “See if I don’t tear you apart!”

Mo Qingli looked at him, then dissolved into a stronger peal of laughter.

“You still dare to laugh!” Mu Tianlang glared fiercely at Mo Qingli. He swore that if this woman continued to laugh at him, he would sling her over his shoulder and bring her back to his wolf den to teach her a lesson!

“Okay, okay, I won’t laugh.” Mo Qingli grabbed her stomach, choking back her laughter. Her body shook from the exertion of holding back. “Then why don’t you go and wear—go wear some clothes.”

Mu Tianlang looked away, no longer paying attention to Mo Qingli. He grabbed his clothes from the floor and quickly put them on. Then, he used great force to hammer the bed with his fist. With a loud sound, the bed split apart.

Seeing this, Mo Qingli could no longer laugh. Now that this damn wolf had tore her bed apart, where was she supposed to sleep at night?

As if he knew what Mo Qingli was thinking, Mu Tianlang’s mouth curled up into a wicked smile. “You’re a jiangshi, sleep shouldn’t be a concern for you.”

Afterwards, he pushed open the door and left. Behind him, he could hear Mo Qingli shouting at him angrily. Mu Tianlang’s mouth curled up into a big smile—although he didn’t know why, he liked seeing her angry. The sight of it was enough to make him overjoyed. Who asked her to always show that cold, annoyingly indifferent face all the time?

Just as Mu Tianlang exited the princess’s residence, he saw Leng Mei standing at the side, seemingly having waited for a long time. All around Leng Mei were men, who shyly and coquettishly encircled her. Leng Mei smiled at them, her expression radiant. However, her gaze was remained focused on the front door.

When she saw Mu Tianlang, exiting Leng Mei’s eyes brightened visibly. She abandoned the men around her, heading straight towards Mu Tianlang.

Seeing this, the men glared at Mu Tianlang. If looks could kill, Mu Tianlang would be dead several times over.

The smile on Mu Tianlang’s face disappeared. Without even looking at Leng Mei, he passed her in large strides.

Leng Mei pursued him. She reached out, grabbing onto a corner of Mu Tianlang’s robes. “Tianlang!”

Mu Tianlang shook off Leng Mei’s hand. Without a single thread of warmth to his tone, he muttered, “Scram!”

“No, I won’t scram,” Leng Mei said. She dropped to her knees, lunging forward and wrapping her hands around Mu Tianlang’s right foot. She pressed her face against his thigh, wearing an expression of never wanting to let go.

The men who had been flirting with Leng Mei a while ago now stared at the scene with shock and aghast. To kneel for a man, didn’t she know that a woman’s knee was worth gold? To kneel and plead for a man not to leave her, this was really a crazy and infatuated woman.

But then again, this man had just exited the Sixth Princess’s residence. He was probably someone who used his body to get close to the royal family, and had discarded this woman to achieve his goals.

The onlookers stared at Mu Tianlang with an expression of greater disgust.

Mu Tianlang cast a glance at Leng Mei, his annoyance becoming more and more apparent. “Let go.”

“No, I won’t let go!” Leng Mei tightened her hold on Mu Tianlang’s thigh. “Unless, you guarantee that you won’t push me away.”

“Are you threatening me?” Mu Tianlang’s eyes crinkled together into tiny slits, the cold energy around him intensifying.

Leng Mei’s entire body shivered. An expression of intense fear passed through her face. However, as resolutely as ever, she grabbed onto him. “Please, don’t leave me!”

Hearing this, Mu Tianlang gave a cold laugh. Indifferently, he said, “You are just a pet I decided to play around with. To try and crawl into my bed, the fact that you’re still alive is only because I’m giving face to Leng Hanling.”

Every word was like a blade that fiercely slashed through Leng Mei’s heart, until it was dripping with blood.

“This is the last time I’ll say it. Let go, or else the consequences will be all on you.”

Leng Mei lowered her head, hiding the resentment in her eyes. Slowly, she let go.

Mu Tianlang pulled his leg out of her grasp. And then, without even sparing her a glance, he walked away.

As she looked at Mu Tianlang, Leng Mei’s face revealed a pained expression—Mu Tianlang, I will make you regret this. I’ll make you regret all the humiliation you’ve given me!

Just when Yue Yao had commissioned an artisan to make a new bed, she heard the sound of a palace official outside.

Yue Yao supported Mo Qingli out of the bedroom, Ran Ge following behind them both.

The palace official stared at Mo Qingli, her disdain obvious on her face. Coldly, she said, “Sixth Princess, the Empress has ordered you to visit her in the palace.”

Now? Mo Qingli felt a headache coming along. In her current condition, even walking two steps was painful. Thinking about this, she couldn’t help but curse Mu Tianlang even further. If it wasn’t for that troublemaking bastard, she wouldn’t be so tired that even a few steps was too much for her!

The palace official didn’t care about what Mo Qingli was thinking. After all, since she had given the Princess the decree, her task was done. She turned around, preparing to exit.

“Hold it.” Suddenly, Mo Qingli spoke.

She fished a gold ingot from Yue Yao’s hand, handing it over to the palace official. Laughing, she said, “The weather these days has been very hot, and Aunt has been walking out and about a great deal. Please, Aunt, take this and enjoy a few refreshing cups of tea.”

The palace official stared at Mo Qingli blankly. In her memory, this woman had always been selfish and stingy, but now she was clearly very generous. It seemed that the rumor of the Sixth Princess changing temperaments was true.

The palace official pocketed the gold coin. “Sixth Princess is too generous. For the Princess to appreciate a lowly maid, it is this maid’s good fortune.”

Mo Qingli’s lips curled upwards. These days, she felt more and more like a real person.

“This Princess’s body has been unwell the last few days. Aunt, can you explain why Mother Empress is so insistent on me visiting her in the palace?”

Hearing this, the palace official’s face filled with admiration. It seemed the Sixth Princess really had changed.

She leaned closer to Mo Qingli’s ears, quietly whispering, “I heard it has something to do with the Sixth Princess’s new consort.”

Feng Qingjue? What did he do this time?! Mo Qingli’s eyebrows furrowed.

The palace official paid her respects, then left the residence.

When the palace official had left, Mo Qingli turned to Yue Yao. “These few days, did Feng Qingjue cause any trouble?

“He hasn’t. The prince these days has spent his days obediently reading books in the residence with Consort Feng,” Yue Yao said.

Mo Qingli became confused. After thinking for a while, she still couldn’t understand why.

After Ran Ge had applied a medicinal paste, Mo Qingli’s feet felt much less sore. Then, she entered the palace.

“I heard that you’ve recently encountered an assassin?”

Just as Mo Qingli walked in, the Empress asked her the question.

Mo Qingli didn’t expect that this situation could be hidden from the Empress. Therefore, she said, “Yes, Mother Empress, but your child is unharmed.”

“Who was the assassin?” There was not even a hint of emotion in her tone.

“This child does not know,” Mo Qingli replied. “At that time, your child had suffered a grave injury, so… I could not make out the assassin’s identity.”

The Empress wrinkled her eyebrows, clearly dissatisfied with Mo Qingli’s reply. Still, it was a matter of no real importance. She had never showed much emotion towards this daughter of hers. Continuing to ask would mean that she actually cared for her.

“If you’re unharmed, that’s fine,” the Empress slowly said. “Rise. It’s important to recover after a grave injury. It won’t do your body any good to kneel like this. Someone, bring a chair!”

Mo Qingli lowered her eyes, holding back the ridicule in her eyes. “Many thanks, Mother Empress.”

After Mo Qingli was seated, the Empress began to devolve into the real conversation. “Qingli-ah, there are only three months before you and the prince from the Fengchao Dynasty are to be married.”

So you’ve revealed your objective at the start, Mo Qingli thought silently. Still, her face was indifferent. “Many thanks to Mother Empress for reminding me of the matter.”

The Empress was pleased with Mo Qingli’s attitude. “Xiaoyao Yunbo’s situation you are clearly familiar with. In order to ensure peace between the dynasties, we must use conventional methods to solve them. I believe these, you are familiar with too.”

After a short pause, she continued: “The Xiaoyao Dynasty has retreated their troops from the border. Furthermore, I’ve heard news of them being involved with the Fengchao Dynasty. Feng Qingjue is the Fengchao Dynasty’s most treasured prince. After you two are married, find out if the two dynasties are conspiring together in illicit activities.”

“Of course, that situation between you and Consort Xuan a few nights ago, this Empress knows it surely to be a misunderstanding.”

The Empress picked up a cup of tea from the table, gently taking a sip.

Mo Qingli understood what the Empress was trying to hint at by bringing up Consort Xuan. Right now, she was clearly stating that Mo Qingli still had some value.

This was the first time that the Empress had spoken so focusedly with Mo Qingli. Still, it was enough to obliterate any affectionate feelings this body felt for this woman.

Could this kind of woman, who was clearly willing to exploit her own daughter, even be called a mother?!
