Chapter 104 - Move With the Supermarket

Half a year’s worth of rent was 3,300 yuan, two months’ deposit was 1,100 yuan, agency fee was 2,750 yuan, Shi Lei had 5,325 yuan left from the the 100,000 yuan weekly sum.

Shi Lei locked the door and caught a taxi to the nearby supermarket. Although it was only 1km away from his house, but he called a taxi anyways. For Shi Lei, the basic rules were that if he could catch a taxi, he would never walk, if he could spend money, he would never save money.
In the supermarket, Shi Lei was shoving things into the cart non-stop crazily as if it was the end of the world. The other customers were disturbed by the scene and were discussing about it amongst themselves. Did some sort of end of the world news spread around again and led this young man to shop like crazy? A lot of grandmas began to have doubts as they communicated and discussed amongst themselves. Quickly, the initial curious conversation turned into the potential burst of some sort of crisis after those grandmas spread the rumors around.
This time, it seemed to be about cotton, about farmers. The grandmas imagined that the government decided pay more attention to the farmers as they would increase the price of agricultural products, especially sideline products. The first product that would increase in price would be cotton products.
They couldn’t help it as the most obvious products in Shi Lei’s cart were all made out of cotton.
He just rented a new house and obviously the bed spreads and mattresses wouldn’t be appropriate for the new house. It wasn’t that he loved the new and hated the old, but the size was inappropriate. The bed in his dorm was a 1.2m wide single bed whilst the bed in the new house is 2m wide.
Shi Lei mumbled ‘single room double bed’ and with the rule of buying the most expensive without worrying about the quality, he picked two sets of the most expensive bed spreads. Then, he bought a duvet and two pillows with the price of 500 yuan each.
Looking at those beddings which he never imagined to use, Shi Lei shook his head and couldn’t help but to think that wealthy people were definitely crazy. The price of these two pillows were enough for him to buy beddings in his dorm for three years.
Although it troubled Shi Lei to spend the weekly sum, but Shi Lei felt rather good when he could spend money without worrying about anything.
Short and long towels needed to be the most expensive ones, he also bought toothbrushes at the price of 40 yuan, cups…… Damn, this was great, more than 300 yuan for one. It was something like a handmade crystal, but Shi Lei didn’t care as long as it was expensive enough.
And slippers, both the cotton and the plastic ones. Oh right, I saw in the TV before that people put a long carpet next to their bed. It looked rather petite and Shi Lei also wanted one.
One wasn’t enough, maybe one more in front of the house and in front of the bathroom. Hahaha, that was more than 2,000 yuan spent. One carpet was about 700 or 800 yuan, nice!
Shi Lei was beaming from ear to ear and continuously shoved the most expensive products in the supermarket into his cart. He made a mistake, it was a grave mistake. He should’ve booked a car and asked the driver to help him carry all these things.
Looking at the organizer on the side, an idea popped up in Shi Lei’s mind.
“Hello, are you perhaps an employee here?” Shi Lei walked towards the employee who was staring at him with his eyes widened.
The organiser quickly nodded and said: “Yes sir, do you need help with anything?”
Shi Lei laughed and blushed: “I’m almost done with buying things but I suddenly remembered that I came by myself. I can’t really carry all these out by myself so I was wondering if anyone can help me with these?”
The employee said: “The cart can be pushed till the car park, I’ll help you unload these into your car.”
Shi Lei scratched his hand and said: “The problem is that I don’t have a car. I planned to book a car and wait for me at the front door, but I don’t think that the cart can go that far.”
“Are you sure you are buying all of these things?”
Shi Lei nodded earnestly: “I just moved today and these are all necessities. I didn’t want trouble so I thought that I could just finish buying everything in one go.”
The employee had a thought and said: “I’ll talk to the manager. If you are really buying all of these, I’ll help you to the car with them.”
“Thank you, thank you.”
Like this, Shi Lei happily paid and it was 18,762.5 yuan altogether. In an instant, he had spent about 20,000 yuan from the remaining 50,000 yuan. Today was only Sunday and he still had a week to spend the rest.
The manager also granted permission for the employee to help Shi Lei. After all, Shi Lei had spent more than 20,000 yuan in one go and the manager didn’t have to carry it himself, so he was more than happy to give the employee the permission to do so.
He booked a car and after the driver called Shi Lei to notify that he was there, the driver saw two piles of products walk out of the supermarket as if it had legs.
“Can you please open the trunk and the back seat? I need to put these things in.”
It wasn’t only strange that those piles of products walked out, they could talk too.
The driver was shocked for a while and didn’t react for a few seconds. He finally realised that the piles of products didn’t grow feet, but someone bought so many that he couldn’t even see the person standing behind it.
The driver quickly opened the back trunk. The trunk and the back seats were all packed and Shi Lei was relieved that all of these things fitted. He clapped his hands and sat in the front passenger seat.
The driver started the engine and asked carefully: “Mister, is the supermarket on sale today? But it’s still two days away from double 12th(1). Did they move the sales schedule ahead?”
Shi Lei said: “No, no, it’s because I just moved today.”
“Moving in the supermarket? Sir, you sure are funny!” The driver mumbled and thought that he would like to see how he could carry all of these things upstairs. At the same time, he felt that it was a pity. It the supermarket was really on sale, he would also buy some things from there.
When he arrived at the entrance of the apartment, the security officer stared in astonishment as Shi Lei and the driver emptied the products one by one. He exclaimed how the car could fit everything. It wasn’t a car, but more like a truck.
He negotiated with the security office for so long and even went to buy cigarettes for him, and the security officer finally agreed to carry the things into the elevator. After he reached his floor, he could only move things inside one by one. Luckily that it wasn’t too far and he spent about half an hour to finish moving those.
“Others only need to clear their shopping cart online and I need to clear the elevator. Hello, my dear audience. Perhaps you just opened the elevator and don’t know what’s the score now. “Fresh and new! This is a cozy home!” Shi Lei was satisfied with the new house that began to resemble more of a warm and comfortable home.
