Dai Yixin had been “trapped” for two days and she finally could no longer take it.
Today, when Qi Yeli and Mo Ran came to work, she could no longer act gracefully and finally asked, “I heard the team gave me a bonus as thanks?”
Qi Yeli and Mo Ran were surprised to hear her question. Qi Yeli admitted, “Yes, you got a trophy and $300M. However, I left them at the international police headquarters. I’ll retrieve those for you after my grandparents’ birthday.”
Dai Yixin sighed in relief. As long as those were there, all was good. She was worried that they weren’t going to give those to her.
If she remembered correctly, there was less than a month away from the Qi grandparents’ birthday.
For a lifetime of rich and wealth, a short period of torture was nothing.
As she thought about it, she heard Qi Yeli say, “National hero, have you thought through everything?”
Dai Yixin said, “Give me more time.”
“Alright. As long as you aren’t straight up saying no, you can take as long as you want. I can stay in this country for several more months at least!” Qi Yeli didn’t sound disappointed as he grinned.
Just then, someone busted into the room, “Lead Mo, third young master Qi, there’s been a crime and we were asked to send our men!”
Qi Yeli and Mo Ran immediately got serious. As they were about to leave, Qi Yeli suddenly stopped and looked over to Dai Yixin, “National… lady, do you want to come with us?”
He wanted to check out how well that girl did in real-life crime situations. Just how capable must she have been to take down an organization that the police could not?
Dai Yixin’s eyebrow twitched. She knew nothing about catching criminals!
Knowing that, she tried to be calm, “First of all, I never agreed to join the police force so I am not one of you. Second of all, these small crimes in the city are regular occurrences to you, no? Why would you need me for that?”
Qi Yeli frowned at this.
Mo Ran pulled on him, “Ah, third young master, stop wasting time. We cannot be slow if we want to help people!”
“Plus, she is right! We can deal with this ourselves. Why would we use a butcher knife to kill a hen?!”
Qi Yeli didn’t have time to think too much and ran off with Mo Ran.
After the two left, the rock in Dai Yixin’s heart dropped.
Money never comes for free.
Just like that, Dai Yixin used “contemplating” as an excuse to live her life in the police department.
Qiao Qing on the other hand never thought much about what Qi Yeli said the other day. She continued her lowkey life of going to school and improving her medical knowledge.
One day when she walked out of school with Luo Chen, the school’s alarm system went off.
Luo Chen shuddered from shock and cursed, “What’s happening? Are we in a lockdown?!”
Just then, more alarms went off outside of the campus. Before long, the entire Capital City started to beep!
Normally, only extremely urgent matters could cause the city’s alarm to go off. Such as natural disasters like an earthquake, or terrorism.
Luo Chen watched as students ran outside in a hurry. He grabbed Qiao Qing’s hand and dashed outside as well.
As he ran, he shouted, “Qingqing, what’s happening? Is there an earthquake? I thought the city is flat?!”
Qiao Qing’s face was more serious than ever as she took out her cell phone.
She was about to call Yan Feng when his call reached her phone first.
