Chen Fan's current mood was very complicated, and he was very angry when he thought of the incident yesterday.

He got a call from Zhang Xueyang yesterday, saying that he got another three machine tools from Japan and asked Chen Fan to help him transport them back again.

By accepting the job, Chen Fan could earn three million RMB in two or three days. Only a fool wouldn't accept it, plus he didn't have much money left, therefore, Chen Fan accepted the job immediately without hesitating at all.

After Zhang Lele and the others had left that evening, Chen Fan went into his master bedroom on the second floor and lied down on the big bed that was two meters wide.

After shifting his consciousness to the electric eel avatar, Chen Fan started swimming immediately to Japan after deciding to leave the meteor hammer behind as it was quite heavy.

This new piece of gear that he had, the 'world schema edge counter current wristband' was very useful. Chen Fan only needed to do some simple mental calculations and then used the electromagnetic induction to scan the map twice. By doing so, he would know the location of the electric eel easily.

At about five o'clock in the morning, Chen Fan controlled the electric eel to stop at Fujiang island which was more than 50 miles from Japan's mainland. After eating a hearty meal, Chen Fan shifted his consciousness back to his own body and went to sleep.

Who would have predicted that what happened next.

When Chen Fan opened his eyes after he shifted his consciousness back to the electric eel avatar in the afternoon, he felt as though his chest was being punched by an invisible fist, and he could hardly breathe.

In the sand bed, which was at a depth of more than 200 meters, with the electric eel at the center point, there were two black submarines on both sides of the electric eel. There was a big submarine on its left and a small one on its right and both submarines were about 100 meters away from the electric eel's body where the area was not covered by electromagnetic induction.

The one on the left was about 100 meters in length and 13 meters in width and it looked like a giant missile. After Chen Fan identified it through the Internet, he found out shockingly that it was actually the fourth generation Seawolf-class nuclear-powered submarine from the United States.

On the other hand, the one on the right was about 110 meters in length and ten meters in width. This slender, streamlined submarine, was actually the Virginiclass nuclear-powered submarine that was of the same generation as the Seawolf-class.

"God, what the hell is going on here?"

The two nuclear-powered submarines that were absolutely astonishing were like two kiloton nuclear missiles that exploded at the softest part of Chen Fan's heart.

Only God knew what caused these two nuclear submarines to be positioned near the electric eel and what was going to happen to it.

The only thing Chen Fan was thankful of was, in order not to repeat the mistake of getting dragged by the fishing net, Chen Fan used the electric eel's four claws to dig a hole in the sand bed as its resting place, so only its dark back was exposed.

Whatever the reason was for the two nuclear submarines to be positioned there, Chen Fan believed that the electric eel would not be detected by the submarines as long it didn't make a sound or move.

Regardless of whether it was a submarine or a ship, the only way to observe and detect it in the water was by sonar. The penetration of light into the sea was limited, so we would only able to see objects within ten meters deep even in the clearest waters. Radar detection in water loses its effect too fast. Furthermore, the shorter the wavelength, the faster the loss. The waves can only spread to a few dozen meters even after using a high-power, low-frequency, electromagnetic pulse.

We humans had tried all kinds of advanced detection methods, but we ultimately chose to use sonar which was an 'antique' method that was a few centuries old.

Sonar had two detection methods; passive sonar and active sonar.

Passive sonar was used by humans or equipment to analyze the frequency of various sounds in the ocean. After analyzing the sound frequency, one was able to determine whether the sound was originated from a submarine, torpedo or the sea.

Active sonar was similar to a bat's ultrasonic wave. It created a sound and when echoes were received by an instrument, a rough outline was displayed on a screen.

As long the electric eel remained still, nobody would be able to identify this sea monster even if the active sonar method was used because there would only be a slight change in the outline.

In the Virginiclass nuclear-powered submarine.

The 39-year-old Captain Carnegie was in the submarine command room frowning as he listened to the various parameters that were being reported by his staff. Yesterday in the morning, he directed this glorious submarine to depart to the United States Fleet Activities Yokosuka in Japan. It arrived in order to attend a military practice by the code of 'shark hunting'.

The practice was not much different from what used to be about the annihilation and anti-annihilation drills of two submarines from different unknown models at designated areas.

As a graduate of the US naval academy, Carnegie had proven to be excellent, outstanding, and he was very confident of himself. However, his confidence level and outstanding performance had been challenged today. From last night up until now, his opponent's submarine had come up with various kinds of tricks that involved the positioning of the submarine in a turbulence to interfere with the passive sonar, or by using an underwater bait that imitated the sound of a submarine to cloud the technician's judgment. These various kinds of impeccable methods used clearly showed that he faced a strong opponent this time.

Furthermore, according to Carnegie's analysis of the whole naval base, he found out that his opponent's submarine commander seemed to be nobody else but Bemander who had a crush on the same girl as he did in school.

After a series of chasing and being chased, the staff of both parties were fatigued. In the morning, both parties turned off the 'jet propulsion pump' at the same time, settled down the submarine on the sand bed to rest and prepare for the next battle.

"Hey, did the sonar detection detect any movement?" Carnegie picked up the receiver and spoke in an extremely soft voice.

"Sir, no movement has been detected for the time being!" The sonar technician who wore a huge headphone replied with a similar volume.

"Damn, if that's the case, everybody just sit down here and wait until the training ends!" Carnegie swore and continued to stare at the huge pile of data on the screen, trying to figure out their location. It was impossible to just hide and wait until the training ended. There must be a winner in the next seven days, otherwise, both parties would receive punishment for sure.

Just as Carnegie was recalling his opponent's way of doing things in school, the voice of the sonar technician was heard from the other end of the walkie-talkie.

"Sir, our opponent activated their active sonar!"

"What?" Carnegie sprang up from his position immediately with a 'whoosh' and shouted to the people around him, "Immediately release the underwater jammer and activate the active sonar too."

Dong...dong...dong

The two submarines were like two giant bass trumpets that gave off an extremely low sound in a frequency of every two seconds.

After hearing these weird sounds, Chen Fan who was hiding in the middle knew instantly that the two submarines had activated the active sonar system that emitted loud sounds to detect the surrounding environment.

"Damn!" While bearing with the loud noise, Chen Fan was scared to even breathe.

Bang! Bang!

The two nuclear submarines released a cylindrical-shaped jammer each from the torpedo launchers at almost the same time.

Two cylindrical jammers which had just been ejected from the capsule let out a series of disorderly sound waves that were even more unpleasant than the sound of a drake. It also caused fishes that were within a few miles to swim away.

Dong...dong... screech.

The sounds were like a symphony orchestra that had purposely performed badly and it caused Chen Fan's heart to thump loudly as he was the sole audience.
