This a teaser chapter of the new novel, Strange World Little Cooking Saint
After about half an hour, everyone returned back to the temple.
Shiyu also saw the grandpa that had adopted her. The elderly grandpa is very old. Because he does not have much to eat, he is also very skinny. His beard is dirty and unkempt, and his clothes are old and torn. His eyes are murky, and his fingernails are black and full of dirt.
"Big Ugly, are you all right now?" The old man saw her and examined the wound on her head.
Big Ugly??…..
Shiyu immediately comes up with an excuse to change this name. She said, "Oh, grandpa! After you left, an immortal came to the temple. It is he who waked me up and cured me. Oh, yes, that immortal also give me a name. My name is now Shiyu."
From now on, if anyone asks about anything they are curious about, she just pushes everything to the made-up immortal.

The elderly man looked at the direction in which she pointed. The big claypot that she used to cook is now 'gu lu gu lu' and effused a very delectable smell. Just a whiff the scent is enough to make him salivate.
"All these are made by you?" the elderly man could not believe it.
"What do you think?" Shiyu pulled him towards the stove, and poured him a bowl of mushroom soup. Then she called all the orphan children to come and eat. After they have eaten, she added more water, mushrooms and salt.
There are too many people, and one pot is not enough to feed them all.
When she had no more mushrooms left, everyone was satisfied as they rubbed their bellies.
They have not filled their bellies for a long time.
After lunch, Shiyu noticed that it is still early. She could not stand the stink of the little beggars’ clothes. She forced them to go with her to the stream at the foot of the mountain.
"If you do not wash yourself and your clothes clean, tonight there will be no dinner for you!" Shiyu threatened them. At the same time, she helped them to wash their clothes, and place the clothes on the rocks to dry.
These children are very young. If they catch a cold, considering the medical technology in this world, there is high chance that they will pass away.
But the children's attention was focused on something else. Their eyes gleamed as they looked at Shiyu, "Elder Sister, tonight we still have more to eat?"
"Of course! As long as I am here, you should not starve!"
That night, it is same old mushroom soup.
They have no choice. There is no money, and they could not afford to buy ingredients. All the other vegetables in the mountains need to be stir-fried or add some seasoning before they taste good.
Right now, before she thought of an idea to earn some money, everyone had to bear with having the same old mushroom soup.
But the old man and all the children did not mind it one bit. They had experienced hunger countless number of times, and they are thankful for just being able to fill their bellies.
After midnight, it is the best time to think. The modern world Shiyu was killed in a traffic accident. She did not dream of going back to Earth. But in this world, she knew that she had a great treasure, but she had no idea where it is. This is really frustrating.
After sleeping for one night, on the morning of the second day, Shiyu was curious about this strange world. She decided to go down with the beggars to the Qing Shan City at the foot of the mountain.
Standing out the city gates and looking at the massive doors of the city, Shiyu could not help but praise this city. This city is what she expected from a city in a fantasy world. The wall was actually made of large chunks of black rock. It looked very sturdy.
Once you enter the gates of the city, within the large main street that could accompany eight horses at once, you can find all types of restaurants.
Although this is early in the morning, there are a lot of people inside the city already. Most of these people come from outside the city.
Shiyu walked along the smaller side road of this city, and try to adjust to this different world.
The gentle wind blows, the scent of flowers in the air. Her initial curiosity was replaced by a calm expression.
As she walked along the street, time flies very quickly. Before long, it is almost time for lunch.
Shiyu was thinking how is she going to find something to cook for lunch. Suddenly, the back door of the restaurant in front of her opened, and a trainee chef stepped out with a basketful of fish bones. It looks like they are going to discard the fish bones. The bones were just sliced off from the fish, and there was some fish meat on the bones.
"Please wait a moment!" Shiyu called out, "Please if you want to discard the fish bones, can you give them to me instead?"
That trainee chef is only 12-13 years old. He saw that she wants the fish bones, and immediately replied, "I need the basket. If you want the fish bones, you need to find something to put them in."
Shiyu immediately thanked the man. There are no trees or plants nearby, and she had no choice but to use her clothes to keep the fish bones. "Thank you so much! May I enquire if you have so many fish bones to discard every day?"
"Yes."
"That's great. Can you also keep the fish bones for me tomorrow?" Shiyu tried to put on a pitiful look. "I have not eaten anything for a few days."
The trainee chef looked at her and saw her clothes were in tattered and know that she is a beggar. His heart softens as he said, "Then you come back here tomorrow at this time. I will leave some for you. But are these things edible?"
The fish is not of very good quality, and guests seldom order fish meat.
"Of course, tomorrow after I cooked some of them, I will bring it to you for you to try!"
The trainee chef did not expect much.
After leaving the place, Shiyu saw Xiao Qi, who was begging for food. She asked Xiao Qi to find the rest of the beggars and tell them to return to the temple. She will go back first.
The fish bones are usually discarded by most people. But if you know how to cook them, they are a fine delicacy. The fish bones can be boiled into fish soup, and no matter what vegetables you added to the broth, the taste is guaranteed to be superb.
She first washes the fish with clean water, and boiled some water. Then she picked up some ginger from the kitchen of the temple and cut them into pieces before adding them to the soup. The ginger can get rid of the fishy smell, and can warm the stomach. Then she tossed some of the fish bones to the soup. The rest of the fish bones were placed in cool running water to prevent it from going bad.
The fish bones are only used to create the broth. Just drinking the soup is not filling at all. She needs to find some vegetables. Luckily a few of the beggars had already come back. Shiyu brought these beggars to the back of the temple to pick up a few wild vegetables.
After a short while, they managed to gather a small bundle of wild vegetables. Other the wild vegetables, they also found some mushrooms that grow on the grass.
When she washed the ingredients and returned the broken down temple, everyone had already gathered and were surrounding and watching the pot.
"Oh…. Today's lunch is not mushroom soup! The smell is so good!" Xiao Qi was almost drooling.
"Xiao Qi, your nose is really incredible! Today we are having wild vegetables and fish bone soup." Shiyu smiled as opened the lid of the pot. The clear soup had already turned white in colour, and the thick smell of the fish drifted out.
It is almost ready. Shiyu took out the fish bones and place the vegetables into the pot.
After cooking for a few more minutes, a pot of wild vegetables fish bone soup is ready to be eaten.
