Chapter 203                        Failed Attempt

Before the hand reached Ye Shaoyang it had already melted into a black liquid. It splashed on the deck with a very pungent smell.

Ye Shaoyang turned to look at Teng Yongqing, shook his head and said, “Well, you were helpful. If it weren’t for you, the game would have already ended.”

Teng Yongqing felt ashamed, “I’m really sorry, I was only trying to help.”

“Never mind, she’s done for anyway,” Ye Shaoyang looked toward the water.

Most of it had already returned to normal. The only place that was still dark was one of the corners. Ye Shaoyang pointed to that direction and asked Gan Xinwen to sail towards it.

As they sailed on the clear waters, there were no waves or wind. Ye Shaoyang felt slightly relaxed. He recalled the weapon Teng Yongqing used and asked curiously, “What did you use to hit the river spirit just now? It seems pretty powerful.”

Teng Yongqing took out two walnut-like things and smiled, “Bhodi Seeds: they are one of the most often used weapons in our Buddhist arsenal. It’s quite similar to the ancient Chinese coins you use.”

Ye Shaoyang nodded and seemed to understand what he meant.

As the boat sailed, it attracted the attention of many villagers. Every one of them seemed more anxious than the people on the boat. Since they had witnessed all of the fighting and incredible sailing, they were deeply impressed. From the villager’s point of view, it seemed as though these people were from another planet.

This was especially true for Ye Shaoyang. Because of his success in clearing the dark water and ability to fight the undead, the villagers were convinced that he was some sort of immortal being.

Everyone watched as he continued on to the last battle.

As they got into the area of black water, Gan Xinwen was able to sail through the waves. When they got to the appropriate area, they threw in the powder mixture and the formation was now completely sealed. However, there was still a small area of black water. It was a small area at the corner of the river.

“Since the formation has been sealed, why is there still an area of black waters?” Teng Yongqing asked curiously since he did not understand Fengshui.

Ye Shaoyang explained, “There are seven Ding in Bagua. According to this, all non-innate formations must have an area for exhaust. No matter if it’s in building the formation or ending a formation. If, however, an innate formation is used then…”

Teng Yongqing frowned and asked, “What’s an innate formation?” Right after he said that he realized he had asked the wrong question, he quickly bowed and said, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked so much.”

“It’s okay. The main thing is that it’s hard to explain an innate formation with just a few words. I’ll explain it to you next time.” Ye Shaoyang smiled and pointed at the last area of black water, “The river spirit is there. Let’s go catch it first!”

As they were about to enter the area, water began to shoot up everywhere. Enormous walls of water formed and prevented the boat from getting close. Even though Gan Xinwen had engaged the throttle’s full power, he was still unable to sail the boat through the wall. Luckily, they had the Pixiu Seal and the golden Buddha helping to stabilize the boat; otherwise, they would have capsized.

“What do we do now?” Old Guo asked.

“We’ll just wait for her,” Ye Shaoyang said, “What she is doing now is consuming all her cultivation. If she wants to continue to block us, then let her be. We’ll just wait until she is weak and kill her off.”

Old Guo nodded, he took out a pack of cigarettes and gave it to the young men. All of them began chatting away as they felt slightly relaxed. One of them, however, was not, he looked at Ye Shaoyang and said, “Master sorcerer, I know you’re really powerful, so please just make sure you can bring us back safely.”

Ye Shaoyang did not respond, he only smiled at him.

Then suddenly, the wall of water lowered and immediately the waters became calm.

Ye Shaoyang took a deep breath and said, “Senior Brother you get the stuff ready. Everyone else be careful. Try to hold on to something and not get thrown off the boat.

Right after he said that, a few of the young men quickly rushed to the rudder and like Gan Xinwen held it very tightly.

Then, out of nowhere, came a loud bang. Something seemed to have hit the boat. The boat flew up 10 or so meters into the air. Everyone on land was shocked by this.

Zhou Jingru was even more worried. She held her hands tightly together and sat down in shock, trembling slightly. Not thinking much, she began to pray for Ye Shaoyang’s safety.

After the boat had reached a certain height, it came down. The feeling of dropping was definitely not fun.

When they hit the water, they heard a crack. The boat split in half, but it did not sink immediately. Right as everyone began to panic, a huge wave started to form not far away from the boat and slowly came toward the boat.

Riding on the wave was something, a red giant creature with a big head,a big mouth, and an upper body like a fish. Within its mouth were two-- no, four rows of irregularly grown sharp teeth. Its expression was also especially scary and its lower body was made of countless tentacle-like things.

The tentacles on the left were the largest, while the tentacles on the right were missing half their mass as if someone had cut them off. Ye Shaoyang immediately recalled that he had shot an arrow which had hit the spirit’s right arm.

The body of the creature was bigger than the boat. It moved on the water while releasing Black Qi from its mouth.

Everyone knew what it was. This was the true form of the river spirit: a fish-like monster.

This time, Teng Yongqing went ahead first. He held both hands together, holding a string of praying beads, and chanted, “Seal of Buddha, destroy this evil!”

Then, he threw the string of beads. The string rotated in the air. As it flew, the string of beads grew larger and larger until it was able to wrap around the large head of the river spirit. Immediately after that, countless rays of gold light shot out of the beads and suppressed the Black Qi she released.

Ye Shaoyang smiled, he knew Teng Yongqing was trying to show off his Buddhist skills, so he stood aside and watched the performance.

As Teng Yongqing chanted, the beads began to contract, trying to force the river spirit to turn small, but the river spirit knew in her heart that if she shrunk she would lose her advantage, so she let the beads cut into her flesh rather than shrinking.

“Master Ye, I’ll catch her,” Teng Yongqing smiled with a slight hint of arrogance. He chanted faster and faster, which made the beads contract faster.

“Ah!” the river spirit yelled. She raised her head up, immediately gathered Qi, and released it. They only heard a loud bang. The string of beads around the river spirit’s head had been shattered!
