Chapter 170                   Heavenly Master Tablet

Heavenly Master Tablets were given to those Heavenly Masters who had gone to the underworld and registered themselves. The wooden tablets belonged to the underworld but were not affected by Yin Qi. They were also indestructible. Typically, these tablets disappeared upon a sorcerer’s death because the netherworld council took them back; however, some tablets survive and were passed to the next generation. These tablets were special because they were usually infused with the consciousness of the previous owner and contained some secret spell or mysteries of the underworld.

Only a few Daoist Sects had them. They were passed down from generation to generation and became the most sacred and rarest treasures in the world.

The Maoshan sect and the Longhu sect both had their own Heavenly Master Tablets. These tablets were made the treasures of the mountain. When Ye Shaoyang became an inner disciple of the Maoshan sect, he was given the opportunity to experience them. By doing so, he learned many things that were not taught in books from spirit hunting experiences to knowledge of strange spirits and their weaknesses.

Even though Ye Shaoyang was a Heavenly Master, for some reason, he had not gone to the underworld to register. As such, he did not have his own Heavenly Master Tablet yet.

“Where did you get this from?” Ye Shaoyang came out from his thoughts and asked.

Hua Mei giggled and said, “To tell you the truth, this Heavenly Master Tablet was left by a Heavenly Master that went to the underworld 2000 years ago. When he passed a certain river, the Heavenly Master threw his tablet into it. As you know, for thousands of years no Heavenly Master from a Daoist sect has dared to venture into that river. Naturally, this Heavenly Master must have had great power, which also means that his Heavenly Master Tablet is extremely rare.”

Ye Shaoyang admitted that what she said was true, but he still thought to himself, Why would a Heavenly Master throw his own tablet into a river?

Unless he was going to somewhere and feared that he wouldn’t make it out alive? Maybe that’s why. He wanted to leave his memories for someone.

The more he thought, the more Ye Shaoyang was interested in the tablet.

Hua Mei continued, “This Heavenly Master Tablet has been lying in the river for thousands of years. That was until I came into being around that area and picked it up. This thing is useless to me, but I reckon it’s very useful to you. So…”

Ye Shaoyang understood what she meant and said, “Okay. You hand that over and release your cultivation. I’ll spare your life and return you to the underworld.”

Of course, it was not only because of the tablet. Ye Shaoyang knew that this spirit would not be easy to deal with because she was at least stronger than the underworld spirits. If they fought, Ye Shaoyang would risk losing his life or, worse yet, injuring others.

Hua Mei covered her mouth again and giggled sarcastically, “Master Sorcerer, if I wanted to leave the mortal realm, I would have left willingly long ago. Why would I wait here and give you this gift?”

“Then, let me have some time to consider, but first, let me take a look at that tablet…”

Ye Shaoyang stood up, held out his hand, and walked towards Hua Mei. When he got close, Ye Shaoyang suddenly flipped his hand over and tried to grab her hand.

Unfortunately, Hua Mei was prepared. She waved her sleeve and a wave of water came between them. Ye Shaoyang immediately pushed the water away, but when he looked for Hua Mei, she was already flying out of the lair. As she moved, both of her arms waved to make more water barriers.

“Master Ye, since you want to do it this way, then I’ll fight till the bitter end!” She swallowed the tablet and said, “Kill me if you want this tablet!”

Ye Shaoyang knew there was no chance of catching up with her. He opened his bag and took out big bags of cinnabar powder, realgar powder, and black dog blood. As he sprinkled the stuff everywhere, the room began to fill with smoke.

The room trembled as Spirit Qi dissipated. Soon, the whole room began to crumble. Things fell and disappeared

Her precious liar was close to collapsing.

Ye Shaoyang shook his head, put the bloodstone in his mouth and walked out. Suddenly, he recalled that there was treasure, so he went back, poured the treasure into his bag and left.

“There he is! There he is! Mr. Ye is fine!”

Li Ansheng shouted as Ye Shaoyang came up to the surface. Zhou Jinru was so emotional. She quickly rushed to him when he got out of the water and gave him a hug.

“You’re okay!”

“Er…” Ye Shaoyang had no choice but to open his arms and let her hug him. When he looked around and didn’t see Xiao Ma he nervously asked, “Where’s Xiao Ma?”

“I’m here.”

Ye Shaoyang followed the voice and walked through the crowd. Xiao Ma lay on the ground and seemed tired.

“You okay?”

Xiao Ma shook his head and replied in an unusually sad voice, “How can I be okay when some thousand-year-old monster pulled me into a forest of reeds? We had a great fight, and I was almost killed by it. However, I was able to use my Hellfire Talisman Paper to burn that thing....”

Ye Shaoyang was shocked, he frowned and looked at him, “Are you sure you killed a thousand-year-old monster with only some Hellfire Talisman Paper?”

“I did. Of course, I used quite a few Hellfire Talisman Paper to kill it!”

Ye Shaoyang shook his head. What a thick-skinned…

“You think you can kill someone by poking them with a stick?”

Xiao Ma was taken aback, “Yeah...with luck. I was just lucky to have killed that thousand-year-old monster.”

Pfff, luck you say…

Ye Shaoyang didn’t know what more to say, “Fine, as long as you’re happy.”

“Big Brother Shaoyang, did you kill the water spirit?” Zhou Jinru asked.

“Not that easy, but I was able to break its lair. Now that she has nowhere to hide, it’ll be easier for me to deal with her.”

Ye Shaoyang didn’t want to see Xiao Ling, so he didn’t return to the Li family home. Zhou Jinru told Li Ansheng to go back to the company and told them that they would stay somewhere else. Li Ansheng had no choice, so he promised Ye Shaoyang he would transfer the money and left.

As the trio walked backed, Ye Shaoyang asked the village head if there were any hotels around.

The village head replied, “I’m really sorry, but our village is too small to have hotels. We only have a guest house, which I think might be too cheap for you guys.”

“Cheap is not a problem as long as it’s clean. Please bring us there.”

Ye Shaoyang insisted so the village head had no other choice but to bring them to the guest house. The place was basically a farmer’s house. It had two floors with a kitchen downstairs and two rooms upstairs. It was not really well furnished, but it was clean.
