After office hours, the doctors and nurses started to leave the hospital. Some of them changed their attires and some walked out in their white coats.
“Dr. Zhang, Dr. Li, Dr. Liu….”
Xu Yajuan stood under a tree opposite the hospital identifying the medical staff from Obstetrics and Gynecology Department who left the hospital. Per Ye Shaoyang’s suggestion, she wrote down all the staffs’ names in a notebook and crossed out the names of people who left the hospital to prevent missing anyone.
After half an hour, only four names were left in the notebook: one male and three female staff members.
“Dr. Liu is a new intern in our department. He stays in the hostel. As for the other three, two are on duty tonight and the other one stays in the hostel.” Xu Yajuan looked up at Ye Shaoyang, “What should we do now?”
“Simple,” said Ye Shaoyang. He snapped his fingers, “You will ask them to go to dinner. Say it is your birthday today.”
Xu Yajuan was shocked. She blushed and awkwardly replied, “It’s fine to invite the female staffs as I am close to them, but I’ve never spoken to the male intern. I’m afraid he might think I have feelings for him if I ask him out for a meal. Big Brother Shaoyang, I don’t want to be misunderstood.”

Xu Yajuan pouted her lips and angrily looked at him, “If he misunderstands, I’ll use you as an excuse.”

Xu Yajuan burst into a laugh, “I’ll tell them you’re my boyfriend.”
Her answer shocked Ye Shaoyang, “That….”
After a moment, a guy and a lady came into the restaurant. The guy brought a bouquet of flowers with him. He was shocked when he saw Ye Shaoyang sitting beside Xu Yajuan. However, Xu Yajuan thanked him and accepted his flowers. She then enthusiastically invited him to have a seat to lessen the moment of awkwardness.
While Ye Shaoyang purposely looked at his watch and spoke to Xu Yajuan, “Another two more to go.”
“Xiao Hui is on duty,” replied the nurse with blonde hair, “We’re both on duty tonight. I’ll exchange with her once I finish my meal. There must always be at least one nurse in the labor room.”
As she finished, she gave Ye Shaoyang a smile, “You’re the sorcerer. Never knew you were Xu Yajuan’s boyfriend. You’re a well-matched couple. You have the husband-wife look.”
Xu Yajuan immediately blushed and looked down.
However, Ye Shaoyang did not mind, he smiled at the blonde nurse, “This is not husband-wife look but brother-sister looks. I’m her cousin. She is here to help me look for a partner tonight.”
Dr. Liu seemed delighted when he heard what Ye Shaoyang had said.
He tapped his chest, “Don’t worry, dude. You’re one of us, I’ll help you. Big Brother, you’re a talented and handsome guy. Just let me know if you like any girl from our hospital.”
After twenty minutes of eating, the blonde nurse left and exchanged with Xiao Hui. At the same time, Xu Yajuan received a call from the other colleague who stayed in the hostel. The colleague said that she could not attend the meal as the wind was strong tonight and she was not feeling well.
“Wu Dan caught a cold recently,” said Xiao Hui. “She said she can’t stand the wind, so she stays in her room after work and orders food delivery every day.”
Xu Yajuan and Ye Shaoyang cast an understanding look to each other. Xu Yajuan then asked, “Why doesn’t she apply leave for her sickness?”
“I heard she couldn’t apply because she has to assist a cesarean section tomorrow morning.”
Xu Yajuan gave a start and she muttered, “There are only two cases of cesarean section tomorrow. If I’m assisting Zhou Xiaona’s and Wu Dan is not on my team. That means she will be assisting in Shao Juan’s operation.”
Xiao Hui replied, “That’s right.”
Xu Yajuan looked up at Ye Shaoyang. Her expression was complicated.
After the dinner, Ye Shaoyang paid the bill and sent off the two guests. When they were walking back to the hostel, Xu Yajuan told him the time and venue of the two operations to Ye Shaoyang, “Zhou Xiaona’s operation will be on the third floor while Shou Juan’s will be on the fourth floor. Both operations will start exactly at 9.30 a.m. Big Brother Shaoyang, what is your plan?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it. You can’t help this time. What you need to do is to focus on assisting the operation tomorrow.”
Xu Yajuan nodded. She bit her lip, “Do you think Wu Dan is the underworld midwife? She looks normal.”

“Have you finished preparing the things I want?” asked Ye Shaoyang.
“Everything is in here,” Old Guo tapped on a backpack beside him.
Ye Shaoyang smiled at Old Guo, “I’m glad to have you, Senior Brother, every time I need you, you’re there.”
Old Guo smiled back at Ye Shaoyang, “As long as I can earn more money.”
Ye Shaoyang opened up the backpack. He mixed a few Chinese herbs and potions in a porcelain bowl. Then, he ignited a few talisman papers and baked the mixture into a transparent, odorless paste-like substance. He kneaded the paste-like substance into a pill and gave to Xiao Ma.
“Even a spirit can’t smell the pill. As what I told you, you have to give this pill to the pregnant woman tomorrow morning.”
Xiao Ma kept the pill and talked to Old Guo, “Old Guo, can you please give me another peach wood whip? I want to lash her badly after we capture her tomorrow.”
