Chapter 74 Four Great Realms

The golden page was mysterious and unfathomable. The many densely packed tiny characters did not act like a display of lines to be read, but as independent stars that rushed into Ye Fan’s mind.

Ye Fan felt strange sensations running over him. Auspicious lights were descending from the heavens, a divine spring was bubbling from the earth, lotus flowers were blossoming, buds of jade grass were sprouting, divine light filled the sky, dragons were flying, phoenixes were dancing, the aged tortoise was spitting out luck, the qilin of good fortune had arrived, purple clouds were coming from the east, golden light was about to arrive from the west, five-colored divine light shone, and the seven-colored divine rainbow shot across the sky.

(Ed Note: Wow. Try saying all that in one breath.)

Bright thoughts and endless methods appeared within his heart, along with a mysterious heavenly divine music and the sacred song of the Grand Dao.

His expression was as dazed as if he were intoxicated, an arid desert finally meeting the sweet rain, its yellow sand gradually being filled with vitality. It was as if many windows had suddenly opened, and all kinds of divine light shot out. He tried hard to grab onto something, but the light passed through his fingers and could not be captured.

But wasn’t this the very essence of cultivation? In such a short time, no one would be able to understand such profound truths. This was a greater power expounding on Truth. The Dao Scripture’s Wheel Sea Volume was like a grand and majestic explosion of radiance. The meanings within this volume were forced into Ye Fan’s mind in the simplest way, letting him understand what he had to cultivate and what kind of realm he had to reach.

Sea of Bitterness, Wheel of Life, Divine Bridge, Paramita; these four great realms were all perfectly explained within the Dao Scripture’s Wheel Sea Volume.

Cultivators first had to establish their Sea of Bitterness, gradually expanding it. Only then could they sense their Wheel of Life, because the two of them were so inextricably connected.

Then an endless Life Qi would curl above the Sea of Bitterness, overflowing throughout the body to nourish the flesh, bones, and organs. It would increase the power of the body to surpass ordinary mortals. This was the first realm discussed within the Wheel Sea Volume – the Sea of Bitterness.

The Sea of Bitterness drowned the Wheel of Life. One above and one below, the two of their existences overlapped upon each other. Each year, another mark would be left upon the Wheel of Life. Once it was covered in scars, it would completely shatter, and that would be the time that a person’s longevity ended, the time of their death.

The only way to change this was to establish a channel through the Sea of Bitterness to its very bottom, connecting to the Wheel of Life, allowing an ocean’s worth of Life Qi to flourish and prevent the Sea of Bitterness’s erosion. Only then could one’s longevity change.

This quantitative change would then cause a qualitative change. Vigorous Life Qi would turbulently surge, and in the end condense to become liquid, forming the divine Spring of Life and forcing itself into the Sea of Bitterness.

A small opening of the Spring of Life would form upon the dull Sea of Bitterness, a connection to the Wheel of Life. The divine spring would be allowed to bubble forth, and that was the second realm of the Wheel and Sea Volume – the Spring of Life.

Only in such a way could a cultivator obtain an energy source, and only then could they fully use all kinds of mystical arts and divine abilities, allowing them to possess an immeasurable might. This was the most crucial part of a cultivator’s evolution. As long as the divine energy spring was endless, one’s power would be infinite.

In reality, the so-called divine rainbows that cultivators rode on were actually just the divine light flowing from their Spring of Life. After reaching the Spring of Life realm, one could use divine rainbows to fly across the sky and countless other amazing mystical arts.

The human body was endlessly mysterious. Powerful cultivators didn’t wish to remain trapped within their Sea of Bitterness. They wished to explore to other mysterious unknown places within the human body, and thus there was also a process to surpass the Sea of Bitterness.

The Dao Scripture’s mystical arts possessed a dominating “pressing forward” manner. Although the Sea of Bitterness was endless, there was no need to turn back; what was needed was to use all of one’s power to break through its confines.

In order to reach their goals, cultivators needed their body to transform; they had to form a Divine Meridian within the Sea of Bitterness to aid in breaking through their body’s limits, in order to reach the other end of the Sea of Bitterness.

This was a long and arduous process. The further one pushed past these restrictions, the stronger one would become. In the end, by rising above the Wheel and Sea, and forming heaven and earth’s Divine Meridian, one could release their endless potential, allowing one to reach the third realm of the Wheel and Sea Volume – the Divine Bridge.

For a cultivator to reach such a stage, they must be absolutely resolute and completely unwavering. Only then could one see through the hazy fog and illusions in order to find the other side of themselves.

During this course of events, not only did the body need to transform, the spirit also had to sublimate. Only once spirit and body united and broke through their restraints and transcended the self together could one find one’s true root. Using the Divine Bridge as a rainbow, cross over the powerful Sea of Bitterness and reach the fourth realm of the Wheel Sea Volume – Paramita.

Upon reaching Paramita, one’s flesh, organs, and bones would all turn dull, and one would be reborn in a new way. One would shed their body nine times, becoming a completely new existence like a butterfly being born from a cocoon.

Sea of Bitterness, Spring of Life, Divine Bridge, Paramita; the distance between each of them was as great as the heavens, and wanting to break through each was extremely difficult. Each realm had many particular details that had to be dealt with and settled before there was even a chance of transforming.

“So cultivators that reach the second realm, the Spring of Life, can use rainbows to travel and are able to kill cultivators in the Sea of Bitterness realm as easily as crushing ants.” Ye Fan’s spirit trembled. Thinking of Elder Han, he realized that his cultivation had to at least be within the Spring of Life realm.

These four great realms were separated by an immense distance, as great as a heavenly chasm.

For Ye Fan to break through the Sea of Bitterness realm was extremely difficult. His golden Sea of Bitterness was too small, so he was far from perfectly establishing it.

But Ye Fan wasn’t dejected. After all, he had only just started cultivation for a short time. To have such accomplishments were truly not easy. In addition, his Sea of Bitterness was definitely not ordinary. Brilliantly bright without the slightest deathly air, and huge heaven-shaking noises like an ocean’s turbulent waves occurring whenever he established a part of it; it was obviously not normal.

Ye Fan then thought of Han Feiyu. Although his divine Spring of Life had yet to gurgle forth, and he had not reached the second realm, the Spring of Life, he could already use the Green Wood Seal. A Sea of Bitterness cultivator who possessed such a treasure was still a threat to him.

Under the impact of the tome’s power, Ye Fan was forced into a dream. The Dao Scripture’s Wheel Sea Volume was like historical scroll opening forth as it emerged within his heart, and then acting like a heaven-splitting torrential sacred river as it surged forth, given him an initial taste of profound truths.

Although this wasn’t technically cultivating, this kind of grand baptism was still a great benefit to him. This gave him a complete grasp of cultivation, letting him understand how he should move forward on his path.

“There are couple inconsistencies with the previous Dao Scripture’s recordings…” Having generally grasped the grand profound meanings, Ye Fan started to carefully look into them and found that the mystical arts within this golden page were different from the ones in Spirit Ruins Paradise’s copy of the Dao Scriptures. Even just the first few lines already had a couple inconsistencies.

Looks like the Dao Scripture’s Wheel Sea Volume that was passed on once it was lost has been slightly ruined…, Ye Fan rejoiced. Were it not for his unexpected obtainment of this golden-page tome, he might have never known that his previously cultivated Dao Scripture mystical arts were incorrect.

Now I can correctly cultivate the mystical arts in their perfect manner…, Ye Fan did as he said, immediately acting in accordance with the true Dao Scripture’s mystical arts to begin cultivating.

An extremely mysterious feeling filled his heart, as it was completely empty. Once he corrected his mystical arts, his Sea of Bitterness released even more golden light, nourishing his entire body and making him feel extremely comfortable. At this moment, he felt as if he had an inexhaustible strength.

At the same time, within the void above Ye Fan’s golden Sea of Bitterness, a strange occurrence occurred. All kinds of different divine splendors appeared, like newborn stars. It was as if the primal chaos before anything existed was starting to form, creating mist and flickering divine light. Countless changes occurred within him without any set patterns.

The changes above the golden sea were endless. One moment it was a river of skies, the next it was an empty dome. Destruction and creation occurred in cycles, unceasingly replacing each other.

“These are the changes that occur with the true Dao Scripture?” Ye Fan was amazed. He felt as if heaven and earth were filled with the thriving vitality of all living things, and then the next he felt as if the lonely universe’s starry sky had withered and died.

He only calmed down a long time later. His golden Sea of Bitterness had become even more condensed. If its previous light was like that of a bright moon, it was now a blazing sun as it spilled out even more intense golden light, and possessed an even greater and more vigorous vitality.

The true Dao Scripture is truly extraordinary!, Ye Fan sighed in amazement. He was convinced that he could now walk further along his path and break the Ancient Desolation Sacred Body’s curse.

But he didn’t become overconfident, because he knew that there were also many other ancient scriptures within the Eastern Wastelands that were on the same level as the Dao Scripture. They were incomparably profound, and they were also in their complete forms, having not been lost in ancient times. Nowadays, they were all in the hands of those Sacred Lands and Ancient Desolation Noble Families.

Now the mystical arts I cultivate are just as good as anyone else’s, so my starting point is not lower, Ye Fan eyes lit up with divine light. I will definitely establish my Sea of Bitterness, allow my Divine Spring to bubble forth, form the Divine Meridian, reach Paramita, and shed my body nine times to perfectly transform like a butterfly breaking out of a cocoon.
