Chapter 50 Jade Serpent Orchid
Just as they entered the region, Ye Fan and Pang Bo were shocked. Hundreds of Poison Serpents similar to the first one they’d seen were all here spitting out poison that rotted the forest. Bird and beasts roars came from deeper within as a countless number of large ferocious beasts lingered within the forest.
For some unknown reason, they didn’t attack each other. More and more assembled in this region, like a surging tide of ferocious beasts.
Many vicious birds circled around in the sky, all of which had bodies several meters long. Their large bodies covered the sky in darkness.
“What happened?”
Ye Fan and Pang Bo were both extremely startled by what they saw. An ocean’s worth of beasts birds had assembled in this region, all disturbed and restless.
Ye Fan observed them for a short while and said, “I think they were all running away from something deeper within the ruins.”
“Because of the Lightning Bird and the Scaled Ape King fighting, these vicious beasts were all alarmed and ran out?”

The two of them took a ten-kilometer detour before they found a cliff that they climbed up using the vines. After climbing to the top, they followed the old vines to smoothly arrive at the depths of the jungle, avoiding that river-like mass of ferocious beasts.
“This place is really quiet!”
This region was filled with ancient towering trees and old vines, as well as lush and wild vegetation. However, it was completely silent. It seemed as if all the creatures had already run away from here. There were no sounds, it was just like the silence of death.
“What happened in the depths of the ruins? Even if there were beast kings fighting, it wouldn’t cause such a thing. There definitely must be some other cause! Otherwise, there’s no way all the other ferocious beasts and birds would all run from here.” Ye Fan and Pang Bo were both startled. But in the end, they still continued forward. Serpentine noises came from within the stony forest. A five-colored vapor pervaded the air, and a fishy smell would occasionally float over.
“A giant snake!” Pang Bo quietly exclaimed.
Within the stony forest, a huge and brightly scaled serpent that was twice as thick as the one they had seen on the forest’s edge appeared. A poisonous five-colored vapor was continuously emitted from its mouth, and it appeared extremely restless.
“It’s definitely not an ordinary snake; there’s a jade horn on its head!”
Its whole body was covered in gaudy palm-sized scales that flickered in the sunlight. A jade horn continuously glowed on its head, seeming to be absorbing threads of light rays into its head.
“This horned snake has already Awakened. It understands it needs to absorb the energy of the sun and moon; if it were to continue and eventually give birth to claws, it would become a legendary Flood Dragon.”
It wasn’t that all the beasts had fled; some of the more powerful creatures had stayed. However, this huge serpent seemed very uneasy, as if it wanted to leave but hesitated.
Suddenly, a muffled sound came from deep within the ruins, sounding like the beating of a huge drum as it reverberated in the distance.
For some unknown reason, when Ye Fan and Pang Bo heard this muffled sound, their hearts began to become a bit uneasy. And as for that serpent, its whole body began to uncontrollably tremble before it abruptly and quickly charged deeper within the forest.
“Snake cave!”
This was its lair. In its nervousness, it fled deep within that pitch-black hole. The five-colored vapor and fishy smell dispersed, and the stony forest finally became cleared up.
“This should be the Jade Horned Serpent that the lecturing Elder spoke of!” At the beginning, the two of them didn’t make any connection to it, but once the poison gas dispersed and they saw the pitch-black snake den they immediately thought of it.
“I remember the lecturing Elder talking about it before. The Jade Horned Serpent is an old serpent who has absorbed the sun and moon’s energy for over a hundred years before growing its horn. The spiritual medicine ‘Jade Serpent Orchid’ grows within its habitat...”
The two of them might have some memories, but they weren’t that precise. The lecturing Elders didn’t just teach mystical arts. When they saw the Jade Serpent Orchid, it was like the Elder’s words were once more ringing in their ears, and the two of them immediately recalled the value of this precious item.
It was reported that while the serpent was drawing in the sun and moon essence, the serpent den’s surroundings would be covered by dense Spiritual Qi; however, normal plants couldn’t bear it. Its shape would change to something serpentine, and so it was named the Jade Serpent Orchid.

After the two finished discussing it, they concealed themselves within the forest. Although they didn’t know what was happening within the depths of the ruins, they both felt that whatever was happening should still be going on and that that muffled sound should once more ring out.

The two of them recollected themselves and quickly charged in and plucked the three Jade Serpent Orchids that were on the outer reaches of the snake den. They didn’t look back as they quickly rushed back into the stony forest.
They ran several kilometers before stopping. A rumbling sound came from behind them, and that region of the stony forest trembled as if there were an earthquake; obviously, the old snake had charged out.

Another muffled sound came from within the depths of the ruins. Ye Fan and Pang Bo’s hearts both violently trembled and their chest began to hurt. But it was also due to this sound that the forest where the old snake was once more calmed down.
