Arc 1 Chapter 11 – Thieves Extermination and Small Friend
“So that’s how a wussy boy live his life…”
They were on the road heading towards the thief’s base.
Yuri and Shana stayed in the village, and Gain keep sighing while walking along the mountain path with Shin.
He didn’t understand the way of thinking of a man who still won’t lay his hands on his woman even after everything has been set up for him and the woman has requested it too.
“Gain-san, wussy is a bit too much…”
“His beloved woman already gave her OK, yet her man still won’t make a move. What would you call that other than wuss ? Shana already taught you how to treat women right, you only need to put it in after that”
“That might be so. However, to protect someone and then simply embrace them is a bit wrong, at least that’s what I thought”
For Shin, there’s a line that has to be drawn between the two matters.
But then at that moment, Gain’s fist falls on top of his head.

Gain said so while walking ahead. He moved while avoiding the branches and fallen leaves dexterously with his big body. Shin is chasing him from behind while wearing a still not convinced expression, Gain then stopped his legs and turned around.
“Think if your position is reversed. You’re just a commoner, and Jou-chan is a Hero, you’re going to understand her feeling”
As Gain pointed that out, Shin thought to himself and came into realization.
To protect him that was helpless, Yuri went out of her way to do dangerous request, there’s threat to her life, and also threat to her chastity.
In that situation, there’s no way Shin can sit idle patiently. He will want to be her shield at the very least.
Then there’s also the matter Shana. Their lifesaver, a kind person who has helped them a lot, and also a Hero. He could understand how a helpless person will feel uneasy and scared of being abandoned.

After running away and making an excuses, Shin has finally realized in the truest sense.

The thief’s base is a cave, and the entrance is an open space with nowhere to hide.
There are some firewood and a cart in front of the cave, and one man on the wall.
The man is probably a guard, he’s carrying a water bag on his waist and occasionally took a sip from it.
Ideally, guards should be at least two people. One will check for abnormality, and one will call for backup, usually there will be traps set around the place too.
However this is an area without the protection of God Pillar. It’s impossible for a group of thieves to devote many people at the entrance of their base at all times, and it’s also impossible to set up a trap that won’t trigger itself against harmless and small animals.
So as days went by, their rules and discipline went lax. Furthermore, the one being sent on lookout is only an underling.
For Shin, this is a thankfully relaxed situation for a dangerous mission.

The place is slightly wide, lanterns are placed in some place on the wall. In the corner of the room, there are some large wooden boxes that might be the result of their plundering.
There are some men sitting on the ground above an animal fur, and in the middle of it, a naked woman is entangled with a man only took his pants off.

While thinking that this is the same scenario like the goblin and orc extermination, he send his gaze toward the woman victim. Shin then activated his Body Strengthening and moved inside the open space swiftly.

The thieves were disabled in various situation, there are some who collapses, and some who are pressing their eyes. Shin who had jumped between them kept his Body Strengthening activated, and in one breath shot two bullets into the chest and back of nearby thieves.
“1, 2, 3…, one left!!”
Shin discarded the gun after shooting 6 bullets and created the next one, he was able to use [Creation] much smoother than before.
He aimed the new gun at the 4th and 5th thief’s body, then at last, he aimed the muzzle at the head of the man who was raping the woman and made the man breathed his last without any doubt.

Furthermore, he also created another gun and replaced the one with less bullets in it.
After he settled down for a few seconds and confirmed that no one else came out from the back, Shin slowly checked the area around him.
5 people were shot in the torso, and one got his head blown off.
He ensured the bullets has pierced them, and their breathing had stopped. Then he kicked the man’s body from top of the woman and approached the path in the back.
“I’ll return soon”
Even though she was affected by the flashbang too, the woman still had her eyes opened and didn’t move the slightest bit. Shin understood that her heart is broken already, he didn’t say another word and moved deeper into the cave.
To make sure that everything is finished.
In conclusion, there’s no more thief.
There’s no problem with that, however Shin is struggling with a new and bigger problem before him.
“Mukyuu~!! This- Iron cage!! Don’t underestimate me just because I’m a fairy! Kugyuu~!!”
A small bird cage is placed on top of a shelf in front of Shin. There’s an animal-like creatures inside it with heights around 30cm that keep beating kuru fruit against the cage’s frame while shrieking.
On a quick glance, it looks like a small person with red twintail hair. Behind its back, there are 4 transparent wings that came in 2 pairs like one that a dragonfly has. The figure looks exactly like a fairy, It didn’t notice Shin and continued to talk while pounding the ground with its feet.
“That thunderous sound from earlier, according to this genius Fea-chan’s reasoning, it must be the sound of them fighting against each other! Shin is pointing his finger at the fairy who is thinking while mumbling to herself loud enough for Shin to hear it too, she has noticed Gain and was surprised at his appearance.

“Are they unusual ?”

However they have no value if they already made a contract since they can escape. This fairy doesn’t wear any bracelet, which mean she’s still not contracted with anyone”

The furious Fea is trying to chew the frame of the cage with her teeth after hearing Gain’s explanation
“But still, I heard the Fairy race are gracious and polite. Is this one an evil fairy or something ?”

Fea who is posing like she was drawing a sword in excitement suddenly stopped.

Even though Shin noticed Fea’s smile turned mischievous when Gain said ‘a good thing’, he scratched his head and smiled bitterly.
“For the time being, I’ll make a contract with you. Just don’t overdo it and mind your way of speaking. Since I’m an Adventurer, you don’t mind travelling together with me right ?”
“Really!? I’ll happily travel with you!! I don’t want to live a boring and stiff day in the village, that’s why I went out in the first place. I don’t want to live a stuffy life!! Don’t go on your words after the contract is made ok!! You can’t annul it anymore~!!!!!!”
She raised her voice and throws a kiss toward Shin.
Then at the same time, a small red bracelet appeared on Fea’s right arm, and a red ring appeared on Shin’s right little finger.

Fea told them that she was caught by Adventurers after leaving her village, she was sold to the slavers that were being escorted by them, and then those slavers were attacked by thieves.
Shin and Gain sighed greatly after hearing that.
“The slave who was captured with the fairy is the one in the back huh, I guess the rest of the group decimated each other”
“Slave, huh…”
In the place that Fea has arrived to, the dead body of 6 thieves and one broken woman are spread on the ground. Fea who is looking at such sight reacted by saying ‘oh my?’ and flies towards the woman. She looked at her face and tapped it with her hand.
“This woman, she’s the slaver who tried to sell me. She’s threatening me by saying she’s going to sell me to a noble as perverted as possible, she received her just dessert huh”
“Is that true ?”

After Gain said so, Shin leaves the hall together with Fea.
He was thankful to Gain for doing the task of ‘cleaning up the non combatant’ and walked outside the cave.
He had overcame the big hurdle of killing people, and while he thought that it was unscrupulous of him, he sighed in relief.
