Chapter 64 Butcher
It was already at the crack of dawn when Zhou Qingfeng finally settled down matters with the two senior intellectuals. He was already extremely exhausted at that instance. After he finished arranging the shift work, he went back to his own room to rest.
After he slept for about three hours, Zhou Qingfeng heard someone knock on the door all of a sudden. He lazily crawled out of his bed and opened the door. He saw a tall and strong guy standing in front him, blocking the entrance like a wall.
It would not be a problem if he was just standing on the spot. The guy, however, held a dagger in his hand as he dashed toward Zhou Qingfeng.
Zhou Qingfeng lost his intent to sleep in a split second as he instinctively took a step back. Meanwhile, DogMeat, which had been lying on the floor, immediately whizzed out and tried to bite the guy with its canine teeth. To Zhou Qingfeng’s surprise, that guy responded extremely quickly, raising his leg to kick DogMeat in its abdomen.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye. The guy strode into the room and paid no heed to Zhou Qingfeng and DogMeat. They soon saw that Lena was standing behind the guy in her pajamas all this time. Miss Fox then yawned and said, “Butcher, don’t play around too much.”
Butcher? Zhou Qingfeng could vaguely recall the stuff that Lena Fox had previously mentioned. She said that she was able to escape from Locke’s clutches because of the help of a guy named ‘Butcher’. They were able to move all the equipment out from the Alonzo Superpower Laboratory because of his help as well.
The uninvited guy appeared, grinning cheerfully at Zhou Qingfeng. He was holding a sharp dagger in his hand and his hair was a mess. He was ugly, scary, and looked like one of those primitive people. He even had scars on his face, and it seemed like half of his face had been disfigured by fire.
The guy was quite brawny. He had large palm joints, thick arms, as well as hairy, rough skin. Although he was wearing a hand-tailored high-end suit, it only gave others the impression that the suit was stuffed with a grizzly bear.
Lena stood up as she grudgingly said, “Meet Butcher. He’s just contacted me. I have a feeling that both of you can form a great partnership, so I invited him to join our team. However, he insisted on testing out your skills first.”
“So, you’re Victor Hugo?” The ugly Butcher smiled as he said, “I’ve seen the footages of you killing the others, and I’m interested in your skills. However, it seems that you’re nothing but an ordinary guy.”
“Unfortunately, I’m not even interested in you. You want to test my skills by springing an attack on me? Not only that, you even came at me with a dagger in your hand?” Zhou Qingfeng replied in anger. “Thank God you didn’t fire a shot at me.”
“In any case, there’s no punishment for killing now. You deserve to be killed if you have such poor vigilance." Butcher shrugged his shoulders. He remained smiling as he then said casually, “There’s no way I’ll be partnering with a rookie.”
His casual tone infuriated Zhou Qingfeng even further. Zhou Qingfeng had been regarded as a killing machine, but he always killed for a reason. He was nothing compared to the guy who stood in front of him. Butcher would kill for no reason!
No wonder Lena Fox would rather risk following Zhou Qingfeng, even though she could have asked for Butcher’s help. Butcher’s attitude stank so badly!
“What’s your test results then?” Zhou Qingfeng asked coldly.
“You’re undoubtedly a mere rookie. You’ll only be a burden for me. I’m sorry, Lena, but I won’t accept your invitation.” Butcher shook his head arrogantly. His first impression of Zhou Qingfeng did not seem to be very positive.
“Very well.” Lena did not plan to force Butcher. She allowed him to leave the place.
However, Zhou Qingfeng said, “Wait a minute, you mounted a sneak attack on me and now you’re trying to leave?”
“Kid, what do you want then?” Butcher said, “Do you want to mount a sneak attack on me too?”
“You’re right.” Zhou Qingfeng had tightened his muscles in preparation. He gazed at the guy who stood in front of him. He activated 'As Quick As Lightning’ and grasped an extra second of time!
Butcher turned around and threw a disdainful glance at Zhou Qingfeng. However, at that instance, his expression became slack. Zhou Qingfeng glided through the air and kicked Butcher exactly in his waist. The power of his kick was more than enough to break one’s spine.
Bang! Zhou Qingfeng threw out a solid kick. He can feel the strong and muscular body of his opponent. Butcher’s weight was well over a hundred and twenty kilograms.
However, even though Butcher had a beast-like body, he flew across the room when he got kicked by Zhou Qingfeng. The ugly guy was still smiling and he did not have the time to react to Zhou Qingfeng’s kick. He got kicked away without comprehending the current situation.
Butcher’s beast-like body hit the wall of the corridor outside the room. The thin wall could not withstand such a huge impact. He even left a hole on the wall when he crashed into it.
This time around, Butcher was fully satisfied. He wrinkled his face and twisted his waist when he stood up once again, asking, “Your kick is incredibly fast and powerful.”
Miss Fox was standing at the sidelines. She even clapped her hands and said, “Well, I believe that you now know each other. Finally, there’s someone who could restrain this wild beast. I’ll leave now and continue my sleep. Solve it yourselves if you guys fight again. Don’t come and bother me.”
Miss Fox turned around and left impatiently. A few meters away from her, Butcher shouted excitedly, “Hey… kid, you really did give me a huge surprise! I’ve changed my mind; you’re truly somebody.”
In response, Zhou Qingfeng shrugged and said, “I didn’t feel any surprise at all though.”
"My name is Nikolai Ivanovich, but you’re now eligible to call me by my nickname—Butcher." The ugly guy reached out to Zhou Qingfeng, waiting to shake hands with him.
“So I assume that you’ll be staying?”
“Of course.”
“Aren’t you supposed to apologize first?”
“What’s an apology? Can I eat it?”
“You’re really annoying.” Zhou Qingfeng had no choice but to bear with Butcher. Not only did he need to show Lena Fox some face, he also felt that Butcher would be very useful. “Lena used to say that you’re some sort of executive chef for a high-end restaurant.”
“Ah… I’m indeed good at cooking. Nonetheless, that’s only a job for a peaceful era. Right now, the entirety of New York is in chaos. I believe now’s the time for me to resume my old profession.”
Butcher pulled out a huge bag from outside of the room. He pulled the zipper and revealed a PKM machine gun equipped with a drum magazine. He seemed to be treating the gun as his lover, and his grinning face showed the crude twists of his life.
Zhou Qingfeng threw a quick glance at the contents of the bag. He was astonished when he discovered that there were long-barreled guns, short-barreled guns, bulletproof vests, helmets, army boots, night vision devices, more than twenty hand grenades as well as two RPG rocket launchers inside the bag. There were even landmines and a few bags of plastic explosives inside the huge bag.
“Where did you get all these from?” Even Zhou Qingfeng was shocked when he saw Butcher's firepower. Although the Americans were allowed to possess guns, all those things inside the bag were considered as highly dangerous contraband items. Those items were definitely the priority target for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
“I smuggled them myself when I first came to the United States ten years ago.” Butcher showed pride in his face when he replied to Zhou Qingfeng’s question.
Cocky!
The big guy who stood in front of Zhou Qingfeng would be labeled a terrorist if his weapons were discovered by the officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency!
“Then what was your original job before you came to the United States?” asked Zhou Qingfeng.
“Before?” Butcher smiled bitterly. “I was a traitor to my motherland before I came to the United States!”
