Chapter 184 Fight Back
Without further hesitation, Fernando Rethnor quickly escaped. In just the blink of an eye, he had run past two neighborhoods. Not only had he escaped Mox's heavy machine gun, he was also able to fully avoid Zhou Qingfeng's rage.
Last night, Zhou Qingfeng had sneaked into the Polarlys. However, Fernando thought that it was David Lawrence who infiltrated the Polarlys. He had been suppressed by David Lawrence for several years, and he should have continued to be suppressed by David. His main role in the movie was supposed to be a mere supporting character, but then everything had changed once he tried to assemble his men.
Fernando had a playboy type of personality. Although he could bear any kind of humiliation, he wanted to prove to others that he, too, was strong. In order to show that he was better than David Lawrence, he left earlier during his dinner session with Rachel and immediately ordered his men to investigate David Lawrence's current situation.
Fernando Rethnor ordered a speedboat, which was preinstalled with wireless radio, to sneak into Staten Island. He soon got himself the information about David Lawrence's current residence. Hence, Fernando Rethnor personally led more than fifty people and ventured into Staten Island the next day. Around ten men from his team were South American mercenaries, which had been following him since the beginning, while the rest were either brave fighters or trained gunners.
However, to Fernando's surprise, David Lawrence was not home. He never would have imagined that Victor Hugo, the other man in the house, would be such a terrifying beast.
When Fernando first led his team into Zhou Qingfeng's house, he was extremely disgusted by David Lawrence's team. Not only were there a mere four to five sentries patrolling the border, all of them were also as weak as a chicken. He was able to break through their defenses with ease.
Fernando felt ridiculous, especially when he heard that Zhou Qingfeng wanted to steal the Polarlys away from him. He broke into Zhou Qingfeng's living room and ordered his men to surround the entire house. He even arrogantly offered his life as a bet, just to put pressure on the others!
But then… Fernando fled!
I'm f*cked! Shooting twelve bullets in a split second and not missing even a single target? There's no way he's human; he's definitely a killing machine! Fernando Retho swore that he had never seen such a monster even after living for over thirty years.
Even numerical superiority was useless when dealing with such a beast, and Fernando Rethnor knew that he had to come up with another idea. However, once he heard the gunshots from the heavy machine gun behind him, he realized that his forty men had all screwed up. And so, he did not stop his footsteps after leaving Zhou Qingfeng's house.
"Quick, bring down those buildings!" Fernando still had a backup plan. He knew that he could not rely completely on just a few dozens of men if he intended to break into the territories of Skull and Bones. After he ran past two streets, which were equivalent to around a hundred meters, he hopped onto a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle.
In order to deal with the sudden incident, Fernando Rethnor had brought seven to eight of those vehicles alongside him. Those lightweight vehicles were only slightly armored, but they were packed with powerful firepower, and were strong weapons for launching rapid attacks.
Two of the vehicles were equipped with the MK-19 grenade launcher, while the other vehicles were equipped with heavy machine guns. Several 40mm grenades and countless large-caliber bullets then began to land on Zhou Qingfeng's building.
Under such heavy attack, Zhou Qingfeng's house instantly collapsed as if it were just a children's toy made of cardboard. Debris flew everywhere, and all the neighboring buildings were completely destroyed. It seemed that nothing could stop the attack at all.
"Victor Hugo, you're going to die now!" Fernando stood on one of the lightweight vehicles and cursed in hatred. He originally brought these multipurpose vehicles along with him in order to strengthen his team's firepower, as he worried that he might be exchanging fire with the entire Brotherhood of Steel on the island. He would never have imagined that he would be using them on such an unknown person.
The raging shooters were filled with joy after watching their shooting target turn into rubble. Fernando even shouted loudly in order to raise his team's morale, as well as to vent his fear and shame when he previously fled from Zhou Qingfeng.
"Did he really think that he can win over me by just quickly drawing his gun? Pathetic! I'm killing you now…. Let's see what you can do next!" Fernando slammed his hand on the frame of the vehicle heavily and gave out his order—fire at will!
However, before the sound of Fernando's voice died away, he saw a short burst of white smoke coming from the rubble of the collapsed area, followed by a Javelin missile.
The fired missile was only two streets away from him, and Fernando could clearly see the trajectory of the missile even with his naked eyes. He immediately covered his head once he saw the missile heading toward him. God bless me!
The warhead of a Javelin anti-tank missile was capable of completely destroying a tank, let alone a mere human.
After experiencing a burst of shrapnel, Zhou Qingfeng emerged from the underground basement of his house, which had already been razed to the ground. He carried a FGM-148 Javelin on his shoulder, aimed at a grenade launcher-equipped tank, and fired another shot.
Compared to a 40mm ammunition for the grenade launcher, the Javelin missile appeared to be much thicker and larger. Furthermore, its firepower was at least a hundred times stronger than the grenade's. A storm of fire was instantly ignited once the missile landed on the ground. "You win!" Fernando heard a buzzing noise from his head. He could not even care whether he was injured or not anymore. He used both his hands and legs and crawled his way out of the battlefield. There were constantly falling pieces of broken vehicles and corpses raining from above, and it looked exactly like a bloody shower in the midst of smoke.
More than half of the people who followed Fernando had died, and the remaining ones were scurrying around for cover. He only dared to stand up and run for his life after crawling for quite a distance, but he soon heard screams coming from his back. He turned his head around and saw a vicious dog tearing the survivors apart.
"What the hell is this!? What are they? Not only the people, but even their dog is extremely ruthless." Fernando then realized that the rest of the survivors were all dead. So he did not dare to stay there anymore. He hurriedly ran to the pier where he first landed, because there were still several ferries and speedboats waiting for him.
The people who stayed on the boat had seen the fierce battle on the shore. They could not refrain from shouting after watching their battered and exhausted boss escape from the battlefield. Fernando eventually jumped onto a speedboat and left the island.
However, the other two ferries, which were responsible for shipping the lightweight multipurpose vehicles, were not that fortunate. The face of the mercenary who drove the speedboat instantly turned pale, as he screamed, "There's a dog on our ferry! Did those idiots fail to kill even a dog? Oh my God, it has actually killed three of our men."
When Fernando jumped onto the speedboat, he lay prone on it, panting. He only dared to lift his head and look at his remaining men when the speedboat was more than one kilometer away from the island.
However, at that moment, the mercenary, who was responsible for steering the ferry, got his body torn apart by DogMeat as if he were pork being chopped on the chopping board. He seemed to have died with an abundance of grievance.
After all the mercenaries were dead, Zhou Qingfeng and the others began to fire from the shore, but they missed all of their shots. Fernando finally recovered from his shock and stood up once again after the speedboat was more than ten kilometers from the island.
Meanwhile, Zhou Qingfeng stood on the shore of the pier, put down his TAC-50 sniper rifle, and cursed angrily, "B****rd, just wait and see! You managed to escape this time, but you won't be so lucky next time."
