I couldn't think of a better name to call this formation than centipede. Though the centipede part was just one part of what it was truly capable of. The soldiers divided themselves into two parts, one on the left, and one on the right. The two parts were also had three files in each, with the tanks using their shields to cover the front and sides. Then they stuck to the wall, leaving the middle path completely clear. Any how you looked at it, from above or the side, they truly looked like a centipede, with their shields serving as a centipedes carapace.
"Tuning Fork formation stage one!"
An earth wall rose up at the back of the formation, blocking the way back so that the monster won't flank us and attack from behind. The formation didn't look like a tuning fork, just and elaborate U. However this was just the beginning. Every single soldier was protected behind the wall of shields, and as the monsters came down the hill, going through our middle, we held our breaths, waiting until the entirety of the gap between both the left side and the right side was filled. And when it was completely filled.
"Cage formation!"
And earth wall rose up at the other end, going so high that their elevated advantage was completely eliminated. Once again, we had created a trap for the monsters, but it was not over yet. The shields were turned sideways, leaving a gap for vampires to attack from. That's when the specially crafted canisters I had the vampires carry at their side burst open, as blood, condensed and sharped into spikes was sent into the crowd of monsters. To keep the damage constant, and steady, each vampire was to aim their blood attacks, for the canisters of their neighbor on the other side of the canyon. It was like passing a ball from one end of a field to another. The blood did not just go through one monster before reaching the other side, but through multiple monsters, boring lethal holes in their bodies, and leaving them vulnerable for the next step.
The passing of the blood attacks was not a sure kill method, since the monsters were not specifically targeted in the first place. It was just as if the monsters were running into a line of attack, rather than being attacked. To solve the problem of none lethal attacks, the tanks, would now begin to draw blood out of the holes already made on the bodies of the monsters. It was rather revolting to watch, as the monsters rapidly desiccated and became leathery chunks of flesh and bones, completely drained of their blood.
All of the monsters were dead in under five minutes, giving everyone a chance to rest. The amount of vampires I had here with me, were no less than a thousand, and so far no one had even been injured. We were protected, with the wall in front of us, and the wall behind us. Kodak came up to me and said.
"How long until we bring the wall ahead down?"
"We're not bringing it down." I answered him. Then I continued.
"We're going to use it. I have a theory, but I think we can use the wall as a battering ram, or whatever it's called, to push the monsters back. It's like using the same method as our formation, only better. Then open a hole in the wall every five minutes for ten minutes, letting monsters in, before closing the hole up. Defeat the monsters, then we'll try to push the wall, having it push the monsters backward as we advance."

Kodak nodded and went to relay the orders. I took a running start, and leaped on top of the wall. Ignoring the monsters snarling and clamoring beneath me, I looked up into the pitch blackness, waiting for the tell tale pressure to come hit me. But it never did. I turned and gave Kodak a smile, even as he watched me confused, wondering why I was not on the ground, sweating or even puking my guts out.
He said if your leg is not on the ground for more than two minutes, the pressure would slam into you. It probably prevented flight through and over the canyon, which means whoever came to visit had to walk through the damn thing, but technically my leg was still on the ground, it's only that this ground was a little higher. I felt the wall begin to move, as the mages within the army pushed the four meter thick and eight meter long wall backwards. It seemed to drain them of a lot of energy, since the monsters were also pushing back.
I raised my hand and pointed it down, then I used my soul runes [PUSH] and [PULL] to create a sort of alternating gravitational field. The first line of monster were grinded to paste, and the wall moved forward almost two meters. This was a good plan, and since I didn't have many ranged attacks, I was left using what I own in ingenious ways.
Queen jumped up, and took a spot beside me, then came one of the most shocking displays of power I've ever see, as she raised her spear up, and called down a rain of lightening like never before. Many of the monsters were fried to a crisp before my soldiers even had a chance of to open up the barrier and let them through. I don't know how long she would be able to keep this devastating attacks of her's active, but the best I could do was too keep pushing the droves upon droves of monsters bodies, that kept piling up with each second that passed.
We made steady progress up the hill that seemed to never end for some reason, making progress and letting the earth wall in underneath my feet, serve as boundary line of the grounds we gained from the monsters. Then suddenly the canyon shook once again, rumbling as it changed it's form. The path was still and uphill battle, but now it was zig zagged, with sharp corners and hidden angles. This way we wouldn't be able to see the monsters coming. I knew this path could change into rather weird patterns, but not into something like this. The new terrain completely eliminated any chance and advantage group combat afforded us. We won't be able to see the monsters coming, but neither will they see us coming either.
"Kodak, take half the soldiers and charge forwards, let the barrier follow behind us. Move it two meters every five minutes, and both halves of the soldiers should rotate every thirty minutes. Queen and I will covers your retreats. Move out!"
At this point in time, I had no choice but to let it devolve into a free for all brawl. But at this point where my soldiers had learnt how prioritize defense over reckless attacks, it's not going to end well for the monsters. I jumped down from the barrier, and closed my eyes. Maybe it was just me, but I could hear the revving of an engine deep in my mind, or it could just be because Soren was driving towards me, side ways on the canyon wall.
I think every boy and girl should aspire to have a transforming monster vehicle. It made you look cool(obviously) and it made your enemies look dead, very, very dead. The bodies of all the other monsters that Queen had killed was raised into the air with the aid of my soul rune. I didn't have to wait long for more monsters to come round the corner, snarling and foaming at the mouth like an army of rabid dogs. I waited until they were close enough, even as my soldiers came out from behind the barrier waiting to charge at the incoming horde of monsters. Then without remorse I dropped all of the dead monsters on their still very much alive brethren, bringing them down with a force of added gravity that snapped backs and crushed skulls, even before the bodies hit their target with meaty impacts that left the monsters with much more than a simple bruise.
Queen did not wait for any invitation as she short forward, turning into a streak of lightening that turned bodies to ash every where she passed. I turned to my soldiers and said to them.
"What are you waiting for? If you waste time she's going to kill everything!"
Their ensuing war cry was like music to my ears. They shot into the fray, smashing shields of iron and blood into the fragile bodies of the wolf monsters. So far I had made them fight with subdued tactics, focusing more on defense than offense. It has thought them how to work together, and to have a healthy appreciation for the efforts of their fellow vampires. But vampires will be vampires, and we're more dangerous when we're allowed to do what we want, with reckless abandon.
VROOOOOM!
I drove forward, pulling my sword out and slicing through wolf monsters. My bike; Soren really was like a steed, just like Malek had said. With each turn he made, energy bolts as hot as the sun and with the explosive force of a grenade shot out of the cannons on both sides of his wheel. I jumped off, and just as I did, he transformed back into his blue an gold lion form, turning into a unstoppable juggernaut, as a predator a hundred times more dangerous than a simple wolf, made it's debut.
ROOOOOOOAAAARRRRRR
I felt goosebumps all over my skin when I heard Soren roar. The monsters froze for a moment, shocked to a standstill. But as if in challenge another loud howl was heard.
AWOOOOOOOOOOO!
And then from right around the corner, three giant wolves almost seven to eight meters tall made their way towards Soren, challenge and anger in their eyes. Looks like the Alphas came to play.
