“Madam Mu, please calm down and let us finish speaking . ”

“What else is there to say! All you want to do is find a psychologist to see if my precious daughter is ill in the head and a psychopathic killer, isn’t that right? You must think I’m an idiot if you think I’ll actually let you guys do that . Please leave this instant!” Ke Wanqing was very emotional and refused to accept any of these perceived flaws in Mu Rulan .

“Madam Mu, it’s pointless to be like this . Would you rather Miss Mu go to court and confront the plaintiff herself, publicizing it to the whole world?” After all, they were all involved in complex political matters . The words hit Ke Wanqing’s critical point hard . How could she let her daughter go to court?

“Do not worry . We will guarantee your safety . ” Translated by The Novelst

Mu Rulan smiled and nodded, “Well then . Can you tell us more?”

“Alright . ” An elite-looking man said, pushing up his glasses, “If we go by normal procedure, it would take at least three months after the initial indictment . Usually it takes around six months .

“This is too long a time period for us, and it’s unnecessary for you as well . That’s why we decided to handle this privately . We hope you don’t mind; tomorrow the prosecutor will bring a professional psychologist along to court to perform a psychological examination inside a sealed building . ”

“Isn’t that the same thing as being accused of stealing, and then having to take off my shirt to be checked just because I’ve been accused?” Mu Rulan said faintly, interrupting the conversation .

“It really hurts my dignity . There’s no evidence that I killed someone, yet just because of Jin Biaohu and Huang Maozai’s words, you want to evaluate me to see if I am mentally ill?” Mu Rulan said slowly, “What part of this is under the law?”

That was right . There was no evidence at all . None of her fingerprints were found on the utility knife or the pencil, while Jin Biaohu and Huang Maozai’s fingerprints were discovered there . How were they planning to sue her for intentional homicide and even go so far as to question her mental health?

“I want to sue them for defamation,” Mu Rulan said gently, voice soft despite the resolve that could be detected .

A few men were startled as they hadn’t expected such a response from Mu Rulan . They realized that she was right . Defamation was covered by the 246th article of China’s criminal laws . It involved fabricating facts to defame someone; it was a serious crime and needed to be immediately addressed .

Defamation was a crime, but fabricating facts to defame others was a different level . At the most serious level, one could sue for defamation .

In the end, she was just a sixteen-year-old girl .

They thought Mu Rulan was too calm to be considered normal . “Please don’t get emotional . There’s no need to complicate the situation, or else it might be worse for you . ”

“But what I said was the truth: they don’t have the evidence to sue me, right?” Mu Rulan drank a sip of milk as her soothing eyes curved beautifully .

“That’s right, there’s no evidence at all so how can they sue us!” Even Mu Rusen knew that one needed evidence to sue .

Mu Rulin pushed his glasses up and nodded in agreement .

The people across from them all had stiff expressions . They hadn’t expected Mu Rulan to be so hard to death with . But then again, it was normal . If it were them, they would not be willing to be sued through the normal legal process either, nor would they want to cooperate with the other party’s demand to go see a psychologist .

Even though Jin Biaohu and Huang Maokai didn’t seem to be lying in their testimonies, it was also hard to see Mu Rulan as the psychopath killer that committed the murder .

Truth be told, the upper echelons just wanted to have peace of mind .

They looked at one another, agreeing in silence to retreat for the moment .

Mu Rulan was going to sit for a huge examination the next semester . They hoped she wouldn’t leave the country as Mo Qianren had . Even if she did, they wanted to see her succeed in her studies before returning in order to serve the country well .

Eventually they left the Mu residence without a solution . But Mu Rulan believed they would be back .

If it wasn’t because she had already lived once and flipped through some law books before, she might have actually believed they were truly doing this for her own good .

However, she was truly a psychopath, so how could she be willing to visit a psychologist? A terrifying existence, what if they were able to see right through her like Mo Qianren had?

Ah… that could be bad . Her puppets weren’t ready yet . She didn’t want to stay in a mental hospital .

But if she didn’t want to follow their instructions, that would make things harder for them as well, right?

And so she took out her phone .

……

Mo Qianren wasn’t any more behind the news than Mu Rulan . He rarely returned to the country and the higher-ups couldn’t wait to squeeze him dry, so naturally they wanted him to take over the case .

It was quite bizarre . There were no fingerprints of the murderer on the weapon that Jin Biaohu and Huang Maozai mentioned, but there were fingerprints that belonged to them .

Yet in this kind of situation, they still insisted that the killer was Mu Rulan .

And it was indeed true .  Translated by The Novelst

How had she done it without leaving even a single fingerprint?

Back then when he saved her from the warehouse, both Mu Rulan’s hands were covered in blood, and that was later cleaned at the hospital .

If he wasn’t wrong, that blood probably belonged to the two people who were killed .
