The next day .

The news of Mu Rulan’s involvement in a car accident spread on the Liu Silan forums . Some posts even had video attached, capturing the moment Mu Rulan had rescued the child from the crash . These posts immediately became a hot topic online; countless people commented on those threads .

The forums seemed like a gathering for fans praising their idol, all excited . Bai Suqing was on the toilet, reading through the topics on the forum with a gloomy gaze .

Damn! The public opinion had shifted toward Mu Rulan now . And most discouragingly, she hadn’t made any progress in regards to the Mu Family yet – not even considering her final goal of squeezing into the Ke Family!

Time was ticking onwards, and she couldn’t help the anxiety she was beginning to feel…

“No way? If it’s like that, doesn’t that mean Senior Shu Min will get a chance?” Someone had entered the bathroom, seeming to be speaking of a scandalous topic that made her speak a little louder .

Bai Suqing’s ruminations were interrupted, so she furrowed her brows, planning to leave . But then she heard something interesting that made her pause in surprise .

“Hmmph! Senior Shu Min has been suppressed by Mu Rulan for so long . God finally showed up to give her such a chance!” said another girl’s voice .

Shu Min had been another candidate for the role of president of the student council of Liu Silan . However, she had been defeated in a crushing blow by Mu Rulan, with a total of 0 votes to her name . This was one of the reasons she harbored hate and jealousy toward Mu Rulan .

Even though she had worked so hard and didn’t fall short in terms of ability to Mu Rulan, but why hadn’t there been even a single person that had voted for her? It was too unfair! The students who voted for Mu Rulan hadn’t done so because of her ability at all – it was too mean!

Bai Suqing leaned on the stall door to eavesdrop on their conversation .  Translated by The Novelst

“I heard Mu Rulan fractured her bone, which means she has to stay in the hospital for at least half a month . Within that time the student council can’t be left empty with no one to lead it, right? Senior Shu Min is the vice president of the student council and should have the qualifications to replace Mu Rulan to handle school matters . ”

The student council not only had to handle student matters but also had to take care of things outside that related to the school . There was only one president and two vice presidents in the student council, but the person who had been handling the vice president’s tasks was Shu Min . Chen Qing’s role was more like Mu Rulan’s personal assistant .

It was obvious that Shu Min was more qualified to replace Mu Rulan .

“That’s right, that’s right! The exchange program between Liu Silan and Ziyuan is coming soon . By that time a lot of big shots will be coming to watch us – as long as Senior Shu Min plans the event well and steps out before people that day… Hmmph! Everyone will understand then that it’s not only Mu Rulan that’s the star of Liu Silan!”

“Let’s go back and pitch our idea . This time we need to help Senior Shu Min to the top!”

“Mn!”

The footsteps slowly retreated . Bai Suqing opened the door with a smile and left . Standing before the mirror, she faced her reflection . A girl in a white uniform had on a sly smile .

……

At the student council meeting room .

“The president has left us these problems . This could be a chance for us to test our abilities . I hope that everyone can continue putting all your effort for these activities; don’t let the president worry about school matters during her hospitalization,” said Chen Qing .

“That’s true, but we can’t leave her seat empty, right? At least when we’re carrying out communication with Ziyuan’s student council for the exchange program, we can’t all be giving them different answers, right?” voiced the head of the art department while flipping through the pages of the document .

“You don’t have to concern yourself with this,” said Chen Qing, looking at Shu Min . “The president suggested that while she’s gone all the presidential duties will be handled by vice president Shu Min . ”

Surprise flickered through Shu Min’s eyes . She stared at Chen Qing, but he didn’t give any further explanations . Everyone in the room had seen how capable Shu Min was, so no one opposed this suggestion .

The meeting ended peacefully .

“Chen Qing,” called Shu Min . Chen Qing had been called right as he stepped out of the meeting room .

“I was going to look for you, good timing . Here, this is from the president,” said Chen Qing, taking a key from his pocket . “This is the key to the president’s office . ”

Shu Min took it from him, feeling somehow that the key in her hand was simultaneously boiling hot and cold as ice .

“What did the president say about me?” She asked, holding the keys to put it into her pocket . She didn’t let go of them, instead wrapping her hand around them tightly .

Chen Qing didn’t understand the question directed at him: “What?”

“Why did the president hand over her work to me?” Shu Min’s tone turned a little cold . Was it out of pity?

She would never forget that year during her junior year . She and Mu Rulan had been standing before the podium, the students from sophomore year to senior year all lined up with their classes, all of them walking forward to vote . But in the end, everyone had walked toward Mu Rulan – everyone!

Chen Qing still seemed to be unable to understand her question, asking her strangely, “Isn’t this natural? You’re the vice president and your ability is very…”

“I’m asking you what Mu Rulan said!” Shu Min said, suddenly angry, her voice increasing in volume and her expression becoming cold . Chen Qing was taken aback .

“Stay calm,” he immediately comforted, now faintly understanding what Shu Min was angry about . That kind of crushing defeat was definitely unforgettable for the person experiencing it .

“The president said she believes in your ability, saying you can handle matters well . ” Mu Rulan had indeed said this .

Shu Min took a breath, apologizing to Chen Qing to leave first . Chen Qing seemed a little helpless, remaining behind to shake his head .

Just as Shu Min had neared the exit of the student council office building, someone called her .

“Senior Shu Min . ”

Shu Min stopped to peer at the girl standing on the cobblestone walkway, furrowing her brows . This person… anyone of Liu Silan would recognize her now .

“Do you need something?” Translated by The Novelst

Bai Suqing smiled . “There’s something I need to tell you . ”
