After my struggle during the fight with the slime, i no longer knew which direction i came from, so i decided to walk in a straight line for the time being.
Along the way i encountered two slimes of the same type and i managed to defeat them, causing my level to rise.

Hmm. I guess my level is insufficient to raise my skills to the next stage. Anyway, because i want to make a living, should i raise dexterity? It seems like it would be useful in tool making. When i thought about acquiring that skill, a message appeared.

Are you serious!? It seems the correct answer was to raise my dexterity. I immediately thought about the map, causing a peripheral map to appear in my line of sight. The range isn’t too wide. The radius is about 500m, in this case the map has a smaller scale? A little way off from the blue circle in the centre, there are blinking red lights. Those must be enemies.
The most worrying one is the yellow dot which blinks on and off at the edge of the map. It might be a building, if it’s a building, i can use it as a base. If not, i’ll have no choice but to sleep outside. whilst curled up in my robe.
I think i’ll aim to go there for now, i’ll head straight for it.
After a while of walking, a dirty hut comes into view. It isn’t broken, but it’s considerably worn out. I’d be happy with anything as long as it has a roof, there is also a river at the back. With this, i won’t have to worry about finding water for a while.
There seems to be a hearth built into the floor with a pot hanging over it, i also find flint inside the hut. With this, i can easily boil and cook food. The room itself seems to be able to sleep at least 2-3 people. Albeit cramped together.
As the base is secured for the time being, whilst looking for food, i’ll subjugate any monsters nearby. Just so i feel at ease at night.

When i approached one of the blinking red dots nearby, a demon came into view. It wasn’t a slime this time, but a monster the size of a small dog. It’s appearance was one that made the pit bull’s look clumsy. The face is one which makes the pit bull’s look plain. It’s teeth stick out dangerously and it’s body is rugged, it’s charm is completely different to Earth’s pit bull.
Moreover, since it’s eyes shine red, i can’t call it a normal creature. Even the map recognises it as an enemy, so there shouldn’t be a problem if i kill it.
Even if it’s size is that of a small dog, i don’t really want to be involved with it’s jagged teeth, so without making a noise, i creep around it’s back.
Status displays Red Dog: Level 3. If it’s at that level, i think i can win.
I approached at a distance in which i could leap, i had removed the dagger from my waist previously, i checked i was fully prepared and then rushed in. I decided not to cut this time, but instead stab it. It’s body seems to be hard, it seems necessary to give it a mortal wound.
I attacked, the dogs reactions seem slow and it tried to avoid me. However, the dagger was deeply embedded in his back before he could.

It screams before falling to the ground. Though it convulsed for a while, it eventually stopped moving. This was the first creature i killed that shed blood, because of that a felt a tinge of guilt. However, i decided to look at it positively, I managed to survive the encounter.
It didn’t vanish like the slime corpse did. Because it is likely to be eaten, i cut its neck and hang it up to drain the blood. I remember a hunter doing the same thing on a television programme i watched once.
After the blood was drained, i cut out the parts which seemed edible. It was considerably disgusting, i nearly threw up 3 times, but it was bearable. Is this ok for a human to eat?
After i had dismantled it, a stone came out like the slime. The material seems slightly different, but i secured it for the time being.
Because i was concentrating on the dismantling, i didn’t notice that i had levelled up.

There’s no dexterity improvement this time?
Although i was interested in level 2 fencing. I wanted to focus on basic skills as it seems you can acquire a derivation skill with it.
I’d like to try various things instead of going directly for strength, so i chose wisdom improvement for now.
『Wisdom improvement: Level 1 acquired. Because of this the derivation skill, Flame magic: Level 1 was also acquired.』
Oh! I can finally use magic at last. I’d just found a flint, but if i can use flame magic there’s no need to use it. I can also make hot water to wash my body with.
I seem to be able to live a little easier now.
Perhaps i should check my status again.
