"Gladly!" Ye Qi nodded with a smile before pointing at his tray of food, "But do you mind waiting for me to finish my lunch first? I wouldn't want to waste such good food."

"No problem!" the soldiers agreed readily, "We wouldn't want you to fight on an empty stomach!"

Then the young Demon Hunter sat down and continued eating. He gone through his meal so slowly as if he was purposely trying the soldiers' patience. He took deliberate time as he chewed on each bite and even coupled that with expressions that spoke of great happiness and satisfaction…

Naturally, the soldiers took this as a provocation from Ye Qi. The hands that gripped the longswords burst with veins from holding it too hard. Even so, they held fast to their promise, they didn't say a word to disturb Ye Qi's meal time. However, from the fury that intensified in their eyes, one could envision the type of "friendly match" they would have in mind for the young Demon Hunter.

"Thank you for waiting!" After sending one last golden croissant into his mouth, Ye Qi stood up, patting away the crumbs that were stuck to his mouth. He smiled and praised the food before going to the main topic, "The food here sure is wonderful! By the way, what will this friendly match be about? If it's horseback fighting, then I'll have to bow out, after all, I just learned how to ride a horse today, I'm definitely not to your level!"

"Of course, we understand that!" The leader stood out and tapped his chest plate twice saying, "I, Evan officially extend this challenge to a duel at Mr. Ye Qi!"

"And I gladly accept!" Ye Qi nodded at Evan who performed a soldier's salutation at him. The two men then walked to a nearby empty spot, "Let us begin!"

"C Quest: A Trial. Defeat all the challengers."

C level difficulty?

Ye Qi glanced at the quest detail to double-check—it was not that Ye Qi looked down on Evan but his random missions that had been triggered at Tower of Arena for the past 6 months gave the young Demon Hunter a cursory understanding of the system. Someone like Evan who had no special powers wouldn't have posed a threat above C- level, in fact, him posing a D+ difficulty would have been impressive enough.

Wait… Defeat all challengers? It doesn't mean the whole camp of challengers, does it?

Ye Qi looked at quest details once more for confirmation, and he took in a deep breath noticing the plural signifier at the end of word, challenger—regardless, taking down the 150 active soldiers at the camp would have taken at least a week! And that was not counting those soldiers in training…

The thought of fighting almost 1000 battles, even if none of them would pose any threat, Ye Qi still shivered involuntarily—this was 1000 battles, even if he didn't injure himself in the process, he would have died from sheer exhaustion! After all, the total number of battles the young Demon Hunter had logged at Tower of Arena for the past 6 months was only less than 200.

"Are you looking down on me?" Evan who stood opposite from Ye Qi commented when he saw the young Demon Hunter still hadn't unsheathed his sword, he roared, "Draw your weapon!"

"A friendly match is a real battle! And I will never look down on my battle opponent!" Ye Qi retorted even though he still hadn't unsheathed Agni. His sharp gaze scanned Evan and he said, "Enough time has been wasted, let us begin!"

Evan held his shield in one hand and his sword in another. Even without his horse, Evan managed to get in close to Ye Qi with a sudden burst of speed. He funnelled the strength of his body into the tip of his longsword and lunged at Ye Qi.

Evan's longsword was standard knight's longsword—the blade had a triangular shape and was about 1 metre long. The hilt was large enough for the support of one hand but there was a weighted ball attached at the end of the hilt—the purpose of that special accoutrement was to help with the knight's balance when they were fighting on horseback. A master with longsword could pierce through heavy armour with a single powered thrust! Therefore, the cavalry was a nightmare for any shield unit on the battlefield.

Even though Evan's lunge attack was much weaker without the aid of his horse, it was enough to cause some serious damage!

Facing this terrifying attack, Ye Qi merely side-stepped to his left—after all, even though the attack was powerful and fast, it had a fatal weakness—flexibility!

The lunge might poke through a great many things but if that thing moved out of the way before the hit struck, then the attack would have been useless and even exposed the knight to convenient retaliation. This might be difficult to pull off for a common soldier, after all, the speed of such attack was fast—too early and it would have been pointless, the late and well, you would have been dead! However, for the young Demon Hunter who had 16 Agility, it was a walk in the park.

Agni was unleashed from its sheath and its first victim was the shield in Evan's left arm. Then, the blade sought out the knight's neck. When Evan felt the cold touch of the blade on his throat, he lowered the longsword in his hand.

Evan's face was twisted from frustration and disappointment but he admitted his defeat readily, "I've lost! I'm not as powerful as you! But I will never give up on…"

The rest of Evan's sentence seemed to disappear inside his armour. Even Ye Qi who stood right in front of the knight couldn't hear him clearly.

So it is for Alice…

Evan's mumbling was enough for Ye Qi to come up with the conclusion. Regarding this, the young Demon Hunter merely shrugged—this was a man who didn't have the courage to confess to the woman he loved, so there was no reason for the young Demon Hunter to consider him a real threat! He was confident he could win this kind of opponent.

Ye Qi sheathed Agni but didn't leave because the system hadn't announced the quest was over.

"Allow me!" Suddenly, the Calvary Captain who had gotten back into her set of armour strode into the field and announced, "I, Alive officially extend this challenge to a duel at Mr. Ye Qi!"

"And I refuse!" Ye Qi announced in return, then he gave his reason easily, "I refuse to raise my weapon against a woman who has struck my fancy and my heart!"

"What? What did he just say?"

"He said, he likes the Calvary Captain!"

Ye Qi's incendiary comment instantly caused a ruckus through the camp—the short time after lunch was the official break time so when Evan asked Ye Qi for a duel, a crowd had already been formed. Even though that wasn't the entirety of the camp, from the speed news travelled within a community as small as the Calvary, Alice knew the young Demon Hunter's proclamation would reach every corner of the camp within an hour, or even the headquarters.

The Calvary Captain blushed in a fluster but she quickly turned that into anger and glared at the original perpetrator of this whole drama—Ye Qi!
