Of course, Alice shot him down instantly, she even started berating on his perversion of the knight's code…

"The horse is a knight's best partner, brother! Not your tool to pick up girls!" A red hue appeared on the Calvary Captain's bronze skin but it disappeared as fast as it appeared. She continued to lecture Ye Qi, "Mr. Ye Qi, please treat your vocation with the respect it deserves, in fact, as an Apostle that is stronger than most, you should be that much more watchful of your actions as you represent the headquarters…"

Is she serious? Who would have thought the captain of the Calvary would be so innocent!

Ye Qi sat on horseback listening to Alice's lecture. His lips curved into a smile watching her get all worked up over his offense. The young Demon Hunter really didn't expect under her mature appearance lied an innocence worldview that bordered on naiveté. Instantly, the young Demon Hunter's interest in this woman intensified…

"Do you find this very funny?" The captain noticed the smile on Ye Qi's face and she flared up once more, "Does Mr. Ye Qi think disrespecting the knight's code is something humorous?"

"Of course not!" Ye Qi shook his head in a hurry. He stared at the girl's eyes that were bulging from anger and asked slowly, "By the way, Alice, has anyone told you, you're exceptionally pretty when you're angry?"

"You…" The captain huffed angrily causing Ye Qi's eyes to narrow with interest, obviously that didn't escaped Alice's detection. She pointed at the ground and said, "Get down! Leave this place immediately! The Calvary doesn't welcome you! If you're looking for hook-up, there's plenty you can find at Summer Crinkle's city square!"

"But I'm here on the headquarters' orders," Ye Qi smiled and explained, "Are you sure you want to violate the headquarters' orders, honourable Calvary Captain?"

"You slimy little…"

Alice's whole body shook from anger but the young Demon Hunter was right, she wasn't powerful enough to defy the orders from the headquarters yet. She finished their exchange with what she considered as an insult, "ugly thing!" before turning around and storming away.

Looking at her retreating shadow, Ye Qi smoothed down the mane of his newfound animal friend and said, "Gelding, don't you think she's innocently cute? How can one not know the art of throwing insult?"

Gelding betrayed Alice who had always been good to her easily and nodded in agreement to curry favour with his new handler.

Ye Qi patted Gelding twice gently on his head and returned back into his training until the system audio in his mind began again, "Learned a new Skill: Horsemanship."

Ye Qi jumped down from Gelding in one smooth motion—based on his understanding of the system design, Ye Qi could tell confidently that horsemanship was going to be one of the skills available. It was why he continued his training even though he could already managed to stay on Gelding's back without falling over, it was to confirm his suspicion.

Glancing at the 1 behind horsemanship in the character screen, Ye Qi sighed slightly—even though skill mastery could be raised by manual training, each level increase was traded with time and effort. Furthermore, as the level progressed, the harder it would be to induce a raise in level. Use Cold Steel as an example, when he found the correct training direction for it at the Tower of Thorns six months ago, his experience gain was robust, he would increase 1 to 3 level every day during the initial stage but that would slow to only 1 level increase every month later on. Therefore, Ye Qi's Cold Steel merely improved from 18 to 26 in the span of six months…

Ye Qi shrugged and headed out to find something to nurse his growling stomach—if there was one thing to celebrate about his new appointment, it would be he was spared from the daily green blob! Ye Qi had suffered through six months of green blob already, he was at his limit. Even though the nutri-meal was greatly beneficial for recovery, it was not as miraculous as the giant made it out to be. This was observable from the Stat and Skill Mastery point that had remained unmoved for Ye Qi. Ye Qi had even started to suspect that this was some sort of hoax created by the headquarters to trick their residents…

Under the glaring sun, all the active and training soldiers and blacksmiths of the camp were lined up in the middle of the camp.

Ye Qi took in a deep breath of the smell of real food and joined the line. As the line proceeded to move forward, it was finally Ye Qi's turn—with a tray filled with delicious food, Ye Qi thanked the chefs profusely and found himself a quiet spot of shade before sitting down happily to enjoy his first actual lunch in months. This was because none of the Apostles considered the green blob as actual food…

Ye Qi was in a very fine mood, chewing on the scrumptious lunch with the balmy summer breeze caressing his face. However, soon, a group of active Calvary soldiers started to walk Ye Qi's way with angry lines on their faces. Ye Qi frowned with displeasure because he knew his first enjoyable lunch break in months was going to get disturbed.

Based on Alice's earlier introduction and Ye Qi's own observation, Ye Qi could now tell the difference between active Calvary soldiers and those training to be one—active soldiers were all adult and had official firearms and knight's longsword; training soldiers were much younger in age and while most had guns, they all were only given short sword.

"You're the new Apostle sent from the headquarters?" The leading soldier brandished his longsword and pointed it at Ye Qi rather rudely, "How about a friendly match?"

Even though the man called it a friendly match, from the hostile way they carried themselves against the young Demon Hunter, Ye Qi knew they were there to test out his real capability as an Apostle. Linking it back to what the young Demon Hunter presumed as the headquarters' intention for forming this Calvary unit, the young Demon Hunter also believed this was why he was sent here—to act as a training partner for these people.

Of course, he couldn't rule out the possibility that they were simply there to teach him a lesson—there was not a lack of spectators who saw Alice left the stable with an angry huff and Ye Qi wouldn't be surprised if there weren't those who had more than platonic interest in the Calvary Captain among her subordinates.

From the hatred burning in their eyes, Ye Qi believed it was more of the latter. However, no matter whichever it was, these weak soldiers were not important in Ye Qi's eyes—his half-finished lunch was definitely more important!
