During his four year of training under John, Ye Qi had learned firearms, cold steel, driving and even medicine but horse-riding was something he hadn't learned. After all, why learn how to ride when there was a more convenient means of transport in automobile? It was cheaper, faster and easier. Therefore, as time passed, horse-riding eventually became an outdated skill and only practiced among the rich and famous as a gloating point.

"You don't know horsemanship?" The Calvary Captain noted the young Demon Hunter's awkwardness and from her tone, it sounded like from the years of Apostles, he was the first to not know how to ride. She arranged a solution immediately, "Then from today onwards, you'll learn horsemanship from me! I have to go arrange today's patrolling schedule and will be back before noon, I want you pick your horse before I return! Don't worry, they're all purebred stallions, they won't harm you, they're tame little things!"

Alice left after leaving the young Demon Hunter with something that sounded like consolation. Ye Qi frowned looking at the row of horses in the stable.

Looks like hazing is a practice carried out everywhere!

Ye Qi guessed that was the intention of his superior. He shook his head and walked towards the row of horses—whether Alice did this on purpose or not, it was not important! The crucial thing now was to learn some horse-riding skill before she returned, Ye Qi didn't want to make a fool of himself. Of course, mastering horsemanship in such a short amount of time was impossible, but at least he had to able to be sit on horseback without falling over…

Taming a horse proved harder than the young Demon Hunter thought! After being rocked off the horse which Alice called as "tame little things" four consecutive times, the young Demon Hunter couldn't help himself but glare at the black horse that he chose. Even though Ye Qi always managed to soften his fall thanks to his Agility, it was a huge blow to his face. Even if there was no one around to spectate, Ye Qi's face burned with shame…

Why must we patrol on horses? Is this some saving the princess on horseback sh*t? Why couldn't we use motorcycles? Isn't that cooler? Also, you damn thing, if you dare to shrug me off one more time, I don't mind having stewed horse meat for lunch…

The black horse neighed and shook his mane at Ye Qi causing the young Demon Hunter to reach for the sword strapped to his waist.

"Such a clumsy ass!" Ye Qi forgot there was one spectator that was always present, one who would never give up the opportunity to mock him, "I've never seen such a clumsy knight before! If this was the olden times, you would have been sent to the stable to clean up horse sh*t before you're allowed to get close to another horse! Horses are animals with great spirit and sensitivity, they can feel the conditions of their riders—he knows that you do not know how to ride, so he's purposely toying with you… If you still continue to treat him as a common pet, then kid, be prepared to land on your butt for the fifth time! In the animal kingdom, it's the survival of the fittest, you have to show your domination to tame him… Of course, that requires some technique and tools…"

The weird wolf's rambling was long and infuriating but it was not without its uses. It pained Ye Qi to admit it but whenever he found himself in a pickle, he would be able to get valuable advice from the weird wolf! Of course, any appreciation he felt towards the weird wolf would not have the chance to burgeon since the weird wolf's advice was often delivered in such scathing tone.

After a series of preparation, Ye Qi hopped onto the horse's back for the fifth time. This time Ye Qi held onto to the rein no matter how hard the black horse buckled underneath him. His two legs were squeezed against the horse's abdomen and his free right head gripped Agni and flashed it right before the horse's eye.

Under Ye Qi's control, the unsheathed Agni started to hum as the cold blade inched closer to the horse's eye.

The black horse neighed in panic and buckled even more. However, no matter what the horse did, the young Demon Hunter's hand continued to inch closer and closer. When the blade almost touched the horse's lashes, the black horse finally surrendered.

Ye Qi slowly sheathed Agni but kept an eye on the horse. Ye Qi had already decided to deliver some real punishment if the horse dared to do anything funny. Thankfully, for the horse, he didn't do anything stupid.

"Hopefully, we'll be good partners for the coming 6 months!" Ye Qi ruffled the black's mane gently, but to ensure his point was understood, he used Agni to pat the horse lightly on his abdomen adding, "Of course, if necessary, I'm not above using violence to ensure your cooperation!"

The black horse nodded obediently.

After a few more "friendly interaction", the young Demon Hunter could finally sit stably on horseback and even ordered him to slowly walk forward and backward—sprinting was still not a good choice for the young Demon Hunter who just learned how to ride. Even though Ye Qi had no experience with horsemanship, he had heard humorous stories of how many novice riders vomited a fountain as they went for a sprint on their first horse-riding experience.

As the summer breeze caressed his face, the young Demon Hunter had the first sense of feeling that he was an actual knight.

No wonder knights like to gallop on horsebacks in the open field, this gives a feeling not unlike underground racing, it's an adrenaline due to speed. However, this is better, after all, the princess in fairytales look for princes coming in on white horse and not motorcycles…

The young Demon Hunter closed his eyes imagining him as a handsome prince reaching for the hand of a fair princes…

"Gelding?!"

The sudden gasp pulled the young Demon Hunter out of his reverie. He turned around to spot the Calvary Captain who had shrugged off her knight armor and changed into a huntress outfit. She stood outside the stable and her eyes were wide. The wheat-colored skin, a clean short haircut, and lean stomach that couldn't be hidden by the huntress outfit lent the Calvary Captain a handsome air. There was a small bell hanging by a red ribbon behind her ear, adding to a sense of youthful energy to her overall look. One could say that the young Demon Hunter's heart was struck!

The young Demon Hunter rode the horse to stop before Alice and extended her a slow chivalrous bow before smiling brightly, saying, "My fair lady, may I have the honor of carrying you on my horse?"
