The blacksmith broke into a raucous laugh, "Kid, you're interesting! What's your name?"

"The name's Ye Qi, sir!" The young Demon Hunter answered truthfully, "It's my honour to meet you!"

"Kid, I hear you want me to repair your weapon?" The blacksmith's eyes seemed to glow for a minute when he heard Ye Qi's name but he quickly assumed his usual demeanour, "Aren't you afraid I'm going to kick you out acting with such insolence?"

"Sir, while I need your help, it doesn't mean that I will stand there quietly and watch you scam my friend!" The young Demon Hunter shrugged and said, "Furthermore, you're not the only blacksmith in Summer Crinkle!"

"Indeed, I'm not the only blacksmith in Summer Crinkle!" The blacksmith nodded with agreement before puffing his chest out in confidence, "But I am definitely the best! Anyway, kid, you want me to repair you sword right? I will, as long as you can prove yourself worthy to wield my weapons!"

"No problem!" Ye Qi turned to give Darien who had been stealthily tugging on his windbreaker a reassuring glance and turned back to face the blacksmith, "How do I do that?"

The blacksmith didn't answer but raised the sword in his hand and aimed it at the young Demon Hunter's chest—while the big bloke was tugging on his windbreaker, Ye Qi expected something like this. He jumped easily out of the sword's lunge and casted Burning Hands in retaliation.

The flames swallowed the blacksmith instantly but the man who was sitting in the flames didn't seem to mind it at all. The sword kept coming at Ye Qi's chest.

After witnessing Titan block his Burning Hands with his bare hands, Ye Qi was not surprised that Frank, who seemed to be more well-built than the giant, brushed his spell off like it was nothing.

Ye Qi who lost his short sword could no longer rely on close-quarter combat. Therefore, he only had his trusty Revolver 500 left as his primary means of offense. However, this was much more effective than Burning Hands. The blacksmith pulled the sword back and jumped out of the way. Obviously, even though Frank's physique was tough enough to ignore the fire spell, it wasn't tough enough to ignore the power of Magnum 500. The young Demon Hunter made use of this opening to cast a fireball and he aimed it right at the blacksmith!

"Stop!" Frank yelled, "You dastard child! If you dare toss that fireball at me, I swear you will never be able to step one foot into my shop as long as I have a breath in me!"

Ye Qi cancelled the spell and winked at the blacksmith, "Now, am I worthy enough to wield your weapon?"

"You slimy little twat!" Frank grumbled as he extended his hand, "Give it to me!"

Ye Qi didn't hesitate and placed his short sword in the blacksmith's calloused hands.

"Nice knife! Alas!" Frank studied Ye Qi's sword and hissed under his breath, "This is the effect of Corrosive Rust… I swear people with this power should be strung up and beaten alive!"

Frank then stood up to pull some tools from the cabinet behind him and started examining the sword earnestly—as he did so, the young Demon Hunter's heart was in a state, afraid that the blacksmith might say something like this cannot be repaired. Darien though had full confidence in Frank. He stood, hugging the wine barrel, looking at the man work.

A moment later, Frank raised his head and sighed. Instantly, the young Demon Hunter's heart scrunched with pain—this was the first sword John had given him as a present for completing his first mission, it was as valuable to him as the two Hallowed Artefacts he had on him! Instantly, the urge to return to the headquarters to flay the Apostle who casted Corrosive Rust on it appeared in his mind!

"Calm down, kid!" Frank glanced at the young Demon Hunter who was radiating waves of malice before grabbing the wine barrel away from Darien and took a fresh gulp from it, "I didn't say it cannot be repaired, just that a full repair is nearly impossible! You now have two choices!"

"What are the choices?"

"One, I grind away the rust and make you a new blade or two, I melt down your sword and reforge a new one. What's your choice?"

The short sword was extremely meaningful to Ye Qi, if he had a choice, he wouldn't opt for either! However, the rusted sword obviously wouldn't be able to accompany on his journey anymore.

Ye Qi grabbed the blade and slowly caressed its rusted surface—from the tip of the blade to the end of the hilt, he touched it slowly like he was trying to remember its every notch and curve. The memories from when he received it from John to the latest battle with the group of Apostles surfaced in Ye Qi's mind.

Suddenly, the blade in the young Demon Hunter's hand started to hum. The rust peeled away automatically. The blade that was as good as dead moments ago started to glow with life! A sharp white glow appeared from the tip of the blade and eventually moved to cover the whole blade.

Frank and Darien looked at this development with their eyes widened. Frank gasped with disbelief, "This… this is Soul Awakening… How is that possible? This is just a normal knife that has been enhanced by alchemy! How can it achieve awakening?"

Ye Qi himself was even more shocked but as the sword glowed brighter, he noticed spidery cracks started to appear and spread on the blade that had just recovered.

What is going on?!

Ye Qi was afraid that if the sword broke once more, he would lose it forever. He instantly turned to the professional in the room with a pair of pleading eyes.

The blacksmith grabbed the sword and pulled the smelter beside him open. He tossed the blade into it and yelled at Darien and Ye Qi, "Light the fire! Add the coal! Do not let it go out!" Then he rushed out a door that was attached to the backroom and came back with a blue-coloured metal the size of a football.

He tossed it into the heated smelter and warned the two Apostles with a shout, "Kids, stand back!"

They immediately moved to hide in the corner of the room.

"Flame on!"

Frank yelled as sparks of glowing embers escaped from his body. Instantly, a heat wave surged through the backroom. The white sparks burned even brighter and they surrounded the blacksmith and the smelter.

Ye Qi at that moment, felt like he was at the hottest desert in the world, his body was being toasted dry.

This is such a strong flame!

The young Demon Hunter forced his eyes open to look at the blacksmith but it was too no avail—all he could see was the bright lights.

The sound of clashing metals reverberated through the backroom. The white sparks started to dance according to the rhythm like living fairies.

The sound continued…

Through the sunset, night and the next morning. The sound of metals finally disappeared when the sun rose up the next morning, it was replaced by the blacksmith's booming laugh.

"I've done it! I have finally done it!"
